  1. for Ben Rainepublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & 125-8

He Hasn't been at his best today but there is the 12th five-for of Ben Raine's career as Jack Carson is rooted on the back foot and bowled as he swishes across the line.

Sean Hunt is next and he may be the final batter for Sussex with Henry Crocombe injured.

    Glamorgan 550-5 dec v Derbys 253 & 234-7 f/o - trail by 63

The new batter is Alex Thomson who sees out the rest of a very successful James Harris over.

Madsen nudges Salter away for a single...and Thomson is gone!

He stretches forward to defend and the ball drifts into the knee roll plumb in front.

That's a pair for Thomson and Glamorgan are on the charge.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 79-6

Tom Taylor gets a leg stump half volley from Craig Overton and helps himself to four runs.

That's his fifth boundary as he has raced to 25 from 18 balls against Somerset's attacking fields.

Taylor may be in for a good time, if not a long time.

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & 119-7

Jack Carson flicks it off his toes for four to fine leg.

Ben Raine can't believe it - looks like he thought an lbw was on there if Carson's bat hadn't made contact.

    Sussex still 178 behind.

WICKET Dal c Cooke b Harris 25published at 13:33 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Glamorgan 550-5 dec v Derbys 253 & 222-6 f/o - trail by 76

Tense moments for both sides as a huge appeal for LBW is turned down.

Harris sinks to the turf in disappointment. That looked very adjacent but there was an inside edge.

    Gone this time!

Harris gets the ball to nip away and the batter is ruled caught behind.

Could he have left that? Classic corridor of uncertainty.

Dal is confidently forward to the off spin of Salter, who like fellow spinner Ajaz Patel is getting little in the way of consistent turn on this pitch.

    Maiden over.

Madsen pushes Harris out to the covers off the back foot for one - and Dal ducks under a Harris bumper.

The third ball is short and pulled away to fine leg for four.

Salter is bowling a very full length and Dal digs the ball out to mid on.

Dal shuffles a long way across as the fourth ball is flicked away to fine leg for a leg bye.

Harris is getting the ball to nip back off the seam at the other end but there's enough width for Dal to leave.

The third ball is driven firmly through mid off for four. He runs a single behind square off the fourth.

    Leicestershire 294 & 103-7 v Middlesex 297 & 271

Callum Parkinson is showing bags of determination for the Leicestershire cause.

The captain has a good solid forward defensive and he has shown it plenty of times already.

He has two from 36 deliveries.

  9. wicket

WICKET Tear c Trevaskis b Potts 24published at 13:20 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & 112-7

The two Sussex 18-year-olds depart in successive overs as Charlie Tear follows James Coles back to the dressing room.

He pulls England paceman Matthew Potts and Liam Trevaskis grabs a brilliant catch at mid-wicket.

"How's that stuck," asks BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson.

Ten overs, 1-14 now, by Potts. Impressive stuff.

Madsen turns the third ball from the Harris over into the leg side for a single.

A length ball is dug out by Dal and he takes a single as the ball rolls away to mid off.

There's a hint of late movement here as the next ball darts away from Madsen off a good length.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 54-6

This is going to challenge Northants' motivation. Survival was guaranteed yesterday and like a balloon, a little bit of the air has gone out with the same intensity not there.

All the recognised batters have gone and there are 68 overs to see out.

  12. wicket

WICKET Coles lbw Raine 29published at 13:14 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & 112-6

Third ball after lunch, James Coles plays across the line and Ben Raine has his fourth wicket of the Sussex second innings.

Faheem Ashraf is the new batter and as BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson pointed out earlier, Henry Crocombe is unlikely to be putting the pads on, so Durham may only need three more.

A slip and a forward short leg in for Dal, who drives an over-pitched ball from Salter through the covers for four.

A fumble by Patel at square leg where the ball is squeezed away but no run.

Four more through the covers off the back foot as a back of the length ball sits up and begs to be hit. Little or no turn there.

James Harris will bowl from the Cathedral End, 13 overs shy of the new ball.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 49-6

Josh Davey only needs two balls after lunch to strike!

Davey is on the money and Rob Keogh is not as the batter is perhaps caught by one that keeps a bit low.

Derbyshire looked comfortable for the first half of the morning session - and then Leus du Plooy was bowled leaving a seaming delivery from Hogan which darted into his stumps.

Harry Came was pinned LBW by Patel shortly afterwards.

There's been occasional hints of turn and movement on this pitch before and since.

Wayne Madsen returns to the middle unbeaten on 74 with Anuj Dal on seven.

This pair have more than 2000 Championship runs between them for Derbyshire this season and are key to the result of this match.

Andrew Salter bowls from the River End.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 49-5

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

What a morning! Somerset set up the declaration by scoring 60 runs in seven overs, Lewis Gregory smashing three sixes in his 11-ball 29, to leave Northants with a distinctly theoretical target of 462 in 87 overs.

Then Craig Overton got to work, running out Emilio Gay and removing Will Young and Luke Proctor in the space of three overs. Josh Davey had his fellow Josh, Cobb, caught behind and the session concluded with Ricardo Vasconcelos pinned lbw by a very happy Tom Abell.

Taking the last five wickets will not be easy on a still flat pitch, but Somerset have the incentive of knowing that if they can do it, their first division status will be assured.

Charlie Tear clips the penultimate ball of the morning down to fine leg for four and it's been a good one for Sussex after a dismal start to their second innings, which began on Wednesday evening.

They have added 103 for the loss of Tom Haines and Tear is 24 not out at the interval, with James Coles on 29.

Still plenty of time left for Durham to wrap this one up, though.
