Madsen moves to 74 with two runs off Patel coming via a flick to mid wicket.

He's squared up and beaten outside off by the fourth ball. Sharp turn there. Madsen blocks out the rest of the over - and that's lunch.

Encouraging signs for Glamorgan - and with a minimum of 67 overs left in the game there's still time for the hosts to win the game.

Derbyshire's hopes rest on their in form batters, Wayne Madsen and Anuj Dal.

  3. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Leicestershire 294 & 91-7 v Middlesex 297 & 271

Almost the end of Colin Ackermann as he is dropped by wicketkeeper John Simpson.

But he survives and Middlesex will need three more wickets after lunch.

Colin Ackermann gets a rather streaky boundary down to third, but he was due that luck as he brings up his 50.

He has resisted the Middlesex bowling for 94 balls and chalked up seven fours and a six off the spin of Luke Hollman.

  5. Durham facing Sussex resistancepublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & Sussex 105-5

Despite getting themselves into a complete mess in the early part of this second innings - which has been spread across two days - Sussex have not capitulated as many thought they would today.

Leicestershire only lost two wickets on the final day here in April and a few weeks later Durham managed only one on the final day at Worcester.

And while this is a generally young and inexperienced Sussex side they have put up resistance today with just one wicket falling so far. Skipper Tom Haines fell lbw to Oliver Gibson when 37, but had crucially added 70 runs for the fifth wicket with James Coles.

They do only have nine wickets to play with though because the injured Henry Crocombe can't bat. But this is far from the procession some thought it would be for the hosts.

    Patel bowls to Madsen.

His fifth ball is forced away off the back foot and James Harris sprints to the boundary to cut it off. Two runs.

Dal picks up three, cutting a short and wide ball from Salter. Madsen is a little foxed by the second ball and somehow squeezes it past square leg for one.

Two more to Dal at square leg - and we should have one more over before lunch.

Tom Abell is having one hell of a match!

After two centuries with the bat, the captain strikes with the ball as he spears one into the pads of Ricardo Vasconcelos.

No doubts about that one, it was hitting middle and leg.

Halfway to victory now for Somerset.

Madsen takes a single off the second ball of Patel's over to move to 68.

His highest score this season is 176 - and if he gets anywhere near that it would be safe to assume this game will be drawn.

At the other end, he pushes Salter to square leg for another single.

Dal turns the fifth ball to the on side, very close to Kiran Carlson at short leg, but the ball lands safely.

    Durham 459-7 dec v Sussex 162 & 100-5

Charlie Tear tucks Ben Raine for a single and the Sussex total reaches three figures.

Tear is 17 not out and fellow 18-year-old James Coles has 29.

Madsen takes the gap down to below 100 with a single off the first ball of Salter's over.

Dal is off the mark with a flashing drive through point for two - and that's the innings 200.

He's back in his crease to defend and see out the over.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 39-4

So close to a fifth Northants wicket before lunch.

Ricardo Vasconcelos defends a ball from Kasey Aldridge and watches as the ball drops and rolls back onto the stumps, but it does not dislodge the bails.

    Vasconcelos survives. For now.

Key partnership for Derbyshire now as Anuj Dal joins Wayne Madsen in the middle.

He's in a rich vein of form with three centuries and five half centuries to date and goodness me, his team need him now.

Two slips and a short leg in for Patel.

He sees out the over - and a minimum of 73 remain in this match.

Madsen squeezes Patel wide of slip for a single.

Gone! Patel flights the ball, which misses a forward defensive prod and thuds into the knee roll.

    The umpire raises his finger.

WICKET Barnes lbw b Bamber 0published at 12:09 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Leicestershire 294 & 70-7 v Middlesex 297 & 271

Ethan Bamber spears one into Ed Barnes' pads and the finger goes up. That was flying into leg stump.

Barnes lasts two balls and Colin Ackermann at the other end is starting to run out of partners.

    Maiden for Ajaz Patel.

Change of bowling at the other end as Andrew Salter replaces Michael Hogan, who has bowled five overs this morning and just prized out Leus du Plooy.

Harry Came is confidently down the pitch, playing the spinner out into the covers. No run, though.

Successive maidens for the Glamorgan attack.

WICKET Scriven c Robson b Hollman 23published at 12:03 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

    Leicestershire 294 & 69-6 v Middlesex 297 & 271

Spin does the trick for Middlesex.

Luke Hollman strikes in his first over with his leg breaks as Tom Scriven gets an inside edge to dolly one up to Sam Robson at short leg. You could not have an easier catch in that position.

Middlesex just four wickets away now from a crucial victory.

    Glamorgan 550-5 dec v Derbys 253 & 196-4 f/o - trail by 101

That ball really moved a lot to dismiss du Plooy.

Derbyshire are still just over 100 runs in deficit here.

Plenty for Harry Came to ponder as he is forward to defend against Michael Hogan.

He opens the face to his third ball and guides it through the off side for two runs.

An anxious moment for Charlie Tear as a short ball from Oliver Gibson gets big on him and flies off the shoulder of the bat, but just clears a leaping second slip on its away to the third man boundary.

Good pace there from the Durham seam bowling prospect but he overpitches later in the over and Tear cover drives for four.

Du Plooy has passed 800 runs for the season in this innings and is doing a fine job leading the Derbyshire resistance today with Madsen.

Gone! Du Plooy tries to leave a ball outside off which cuts back sharply off the seam and crashes into the stumps.

The Derby number six is Harry Came.

Single for du Plooy off the first ball of the over - and Madsen belts the second ball over long on for six runs!

Derbyshire are making this look easy.
