    Leicestershire 294 & 64-5 v Middlesex 297 & 271

Leicestershire have seen off Tim Murtagh and Toby Roland-Jones and the challenge of facing Ethan Bamber and Ryan Higgins is a bit more comfortable.

The Foxes are showing some decent fight this morning.

Madsen ducks under a Hogan bouncer and gets a single off the fifth ball of the over with a push into the leg side off a wayward delivery.

Du Plooy plays the last ball very late, clipping a ball off his pads for a single off the final ball of the over.

What a situation for 18-year-old Charlie Tear to find himself in.

Playing his first Championship game, he is at the crease with his side facing a heavy defeat and having to rely on another 18-year-old, James Coles, for advice from the other end.

No worries there, though, as Tear clips Paul Coughlin away through square leg for four. Sussex now trail by 213.

    Craig Overton is on fire!

Another wicket for the big man. This time, he squares up Northants captain Will Young and the ball flies to Tom Abell at second slip.

Overton has 2-9 and a run out in four overs as Somerset have ripped through the top order.

The England seamer is making all the chat about the timing of Somerset's declaration largely irrelevant.

Ajaz Patel gets a ball to bounce awkwardly and it leaps off Madsen's pads, striking him on the grill of the helmet.

A bit of a pause in play as he's checked by the physio, but he's fine to bat on.

A single off the fifth ball and du Plooy sees out the over.

Derbyshire’s overnight pair of Wayne Madsen and Leus du Plooy batted comfortably through the early part of the final day in Cardiff as they chipped away at Glamorgan’s massive first-innings lead of 297.

Both failed in the first innings but reached chanceless half-centuries in the Sophia Gardens sunshine to frustrate Glamorgan’s promotion hopes.

After full-on defence against the seamers, du Plooy then risked a few aggressive shots against Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel.

Derbyshire should not have much to fear from the Cardiff pitch, which has rarely got significantly worse over the course of a match in recent years.

    Somerset 389 & 337-4 dec v Northants 265 & 15-3

    Another wicket falls!

Josh Davey has been threatening and he gets the ball in the right area again and Josh Cobb can't help but nibble it to James Rew behind the stumps.

Seven more wickets in 80 overs to ensure Division One cricket next season for Somerset.

Two byes come from the first ball of Hogan's over and Madsen slices the third ball somewhat into the on side for a single.

Hard to see where the next wicket is coming from now. But remember, Derbyshire lost their last five wickets for 33 in the first innings.

Du Plooy takes a single into the off side. Madsen is hurried a little by the last ball but nudges it into the off side for one more.

Sussex's skipper departs after a stand of 70 with James Coles and Durham are now five wickets away from victory.

Nick: "#bbccricket, external, criticism of Somerset batting on today seems harsh. Doubtful any Gregory, and Overton managing an injury too. Only need a draw to go 6th."

We take the point - but isn't this the sort of fourth-day situation that they signed a Pakistan Test spin bowler for? That said, looks like Craig Overton can manage quite well on his own.

And now Craig Overton does it with the ball!

In the same over as the run out of Emilio Gay, he traps the left-handed Luke Procter with a full ball from round the wicket.

Procter lasted three balls and now Somerset really have their tails up.

Shot! Du Plooy goes back and across, smashing Patel through the off side for four runs and in spite of the huge Glamorgan first innings, the pressure feels like it is back on the hosts.

The batters trade singles off the next four balls.

    Great work from Craig Overton!

Will Young taps one into the offside and sets off for a run, but Overton reacts smartly in his follow through to reach the ball, bend down and throw down the stumps with Emilio Gay short of his mark at the striker's end.

That is a bonus for Somerset.

It has been a tough first hour for Leicestershire. They have accumulated 31 runs from 15 overs for the loss of Harry Swindells.

Colin Ackermann is still there with 25 from 63 balls. The Foxes' hopes are on his shoulders.

Ajaz Patel is very full, drifting down to leg stump as du Plooy dances down the track and smashes the ball through mid wicket for four runs.

That's his seventh score of 50 or more this season - and this one comes in 96 balls with eight fours.

Four more driven down the ground - and that's the 100 partnership with Madsen.

The expected change as Oliver Gibson replaces Ben Raine.

His spell begins with a no-ball but there is only a single for Tom Haines from the remainder of the over.

Sussex need another 233 to avoid an innings defeat.

Any Yorkshire fan hoping that star England batter and former captain Joe Root will parachute in to help them in their final game against Gloucestershire can think again.

Root will not be at Headingley as the White Rose county seek the points they need to avoid relegation.

He will be up in Scotland competing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, a pro-am golf tournament on the DP World Tour featuring the likes of Rory McIlroy and Root's fellow Yorkshireman, US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick

Double change as Michael Hogan comes into the attack, replacing Timm van der Gugten.

Masden gets a streaky four with an attempted nudge to leg, which takes the outside edge and propels the ball wide of the slips, down to third man for four.

He takes one hand off the bat as he drives for four more through point.

    Frustrating morning for Glamorgan.

A change of bowling as Ajaz Patel replaces James Harris.

A hint of turn but nothing to alarm the Derby batters.

A single each for Madsen and du Plooy and the last ball of the over is carved behind point by Madsen for one more.

Almost no acknowledgement from the crowd for the innings 150.

For the visitors, this is all about batting time.
