  1. Runs flowing for Kentpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent 29-0 v Somerset 202

Positive stuff from the Kent openers in the first six overs of their reply.

Four boundaries - three from Tawanda Muyeye and the other from Zak Crawley - have got the runs flowing.

  2. 200 runs

up for Worcestershirepublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Worcs 202-8 v Middx

Very nice start to day two from Josh Tongue and Dillon Pennington.

They’ve taken Worcestershire to a batting point from 167-8.

Middlesex had it pretty much all their own way yesterday but perhaps harder work ahead.

  3. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore c van Buuren b Gohar 46published at 11:06 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Yorkshire 121-4 v Gloucestershire 190

Tom Kohler-Cadmore will never die wondering!

He attempts a big shot off spinner Zafar Gohar's first ball of the morning but does not get all of it and Graeme van Buuren takes the catch in the deep.

Still, 46 off 45 balls from Kohler-Cadmore and he has really got the scoreboard moving on day two.

  4. 100 runs

for Shubman Gillpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Sussex v Glamorgan 245-4

India batter Subman Gill brings up his century at Hove.

It's come in rapid time too, off just 123 balls, with 12 fours and a couple of sixes.

Excellent innings from the 23-year-old but Glamorgan still need Worcestershire to do them some favours against Middlesex.

  5. Kent beginpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent 0-0 v Somerset 202

Kent openers Tawanda Muyeye and Zak Crawley are out in the middle ready to begin their innings.

Craig Overton has the ball for Somerset.

  6. wicket

WICKET Root b Hunt 21published at 10:56 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Sussex v Glamorgan 238-4

Glamorgan lose their fourth wicket as Billy Root is castled by Sean Hunt.

Shubman Gill looks on from the other end on 99...

  7. wicket

WICKET Jennings lbw b Overton 199published at 10:51 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Lancashire 430-6 v Surrey

    Oh no!

Keaton Jennings falls one short of his third double century of the season.

Jamie Overton produces a big in-swinging yorker from round the wicket and it strikes Jennings on the foot and the finger goes up.

He becomes only the third Lancashire batter to be out on 199 after Alan Wharton and Michael Atherton.

  8. rain stops play

  9. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 202published at 10:45 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Kent v Somerset 202 all out

    No century for Lewis Goldsworthy.

He falls six runs short, feathering an edge through to the wicketkeeper from Nathan Gilchrist.

A fine effort from Gilchrist as he ends with 6-61, his best in first-class cricket.

  10. Postpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Yorkshire 105-3 v Gloucestershire 190

Very positive stuff from Yorkshire and Tom Kohler-Cadmore this morning.

He has just taken ten from the first three balls of this over from Tom Price, before Jonny Tattersall cracks a boundary off the final ball.

This sort of intent can only be good for Yorkshire as they look to avoid the threat of relegation

  11. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Dickson b Potts 28published at 10:39 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Notts 277-3 v Durham

Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire lose an early wicket at Trent Bridge as Matt Potts gets Joe Clarke caught low down at second slip.

Notts are still in a really healthy position for promotion though as Lyndon James comes in at five.

They only need seven points to secure promotion, and that figure will be even less if Middlesex and Glamorgan drop any points.

  12. Postpublished at 10:33 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 195-9

Last man Jack Brooks survives the hat-trick ball, somewhat unconvincingly!

Brooks must stick around to help Lewis Goldsworthy reach his hundred.

  13. Hat-trick ballpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 195-9

Nathan Gilchrist to bowl at Jack Brooks.

He's on a hat-trick after the wickets of Craig Overton and Sajid Khan just before the rain intervened yesterday...

  14. 11.15 start in Birminghampublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Warwickshire 138-2 v Hampshire

After heavy early morning rain in Birmingham, the start at Edgbaston has been pushed back to 11.15 BST.

There's also a slight delay between Northants and Essex. That one will get under way at 10:45.

  17. Happy Stevo Day!published at 10:28 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Kent v Somerset 195-9

    Darren StevensImage source, Rex Features

So, today has been declared 'Stevo Day' at Canterbury in tribute to departing hero Darren Stevens.

Stevens has been a Kent player since 2004 with his final game coming in the One-Day Cup final victory over Lancashire at Trent Bridge 10 days ago.

At 46, his legend is assured as he has continued to defy Old Father Time with his batting and bowling. His name has even been the title of a WhatsApp group for Australian batters playing county cricket - 'Stevo's gonna get ya'!

He is not playing in the County Championship game with Somerset, but he will be on the pitch during the lunch break where the club can recognise what he has done for them over the years.

It's going to be emotional Kent fans!

  18. Division Two - battle for promotionpublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

    Haseeb HameedImage source, Getty Images

Leaders Nottinghamshire have put themselves in a strong position at home to Durham thanks to centuries from Haseeb Hameed and Matthew Montgomery, who resumes on 101 not out with Notts 276-2 and on course for maximum batting points.

They need just seven points from the match to secure promotion.

At New Road, Middlesex need two wickets to wrap up the Worcestershire innings, having reduced the hosts to 167-8, with three more wickets for Toby Roland-Jones.

Glamorgan are chasing both and begun postively against Sussex, reaching 221-3, with Shubman Gill 91 not out before the weather shortened the day at Hove.

  19. Division One - fight for survivalpublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

After losing the toss, Yorkshire managed to bowl out Gloucestershire for 190, helped by four wickets from the returning Matt Fisher.

They ended the day 80-3, having just loss Adam Lyth for 44 at the close, but they will hope to build a sizeable lead.

Kent are one wicket away from batting after reducing Somerset to 195-9, despite an unbeaten 93 from Lewis Goldsworthy.

Only 41 overs were possible at Edgbaston but half centuries from Warwickshire openers Dom Sibley and Rob Yates, who is 77 not out, have built a platform for a good score at 138-2 against Hampshire.

    Div One relegation battle

    • Draws for Kent and Yorkshire would be enough to keep them up after both claimed three bonus points on Monday

    Div Two promotion race

    • Leaders Notts need a maximum of seven points from their game against Durham to seal promotion
    • Middlesex and Glamorgan realistically battling for second place and promotion
    • Second-placed Middlesex hold nine point advantage over Glamorgan heading into final round
