  1. 50 runs

for Tom Hainespublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 147-0 v Glam 533-9d

It must be very depressing to be a Glamorgan cricketer at the moment.

All that effort and hope of the first two days dashed and now struggling to make the breakthrough after enforcing the follow-on.

Tom Haines has batted all day so far and gets to another half-century, this in 61 balls with seven fours.

But Ali Orr's aggression continues at the other end, he's 84 not out from only 67 balls.

A bit of Bazball for ya.

  2. wicket

WICKET Hollman c Roderick b Waite 11published at 16:22 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 417-7

Middlesex's lead approaches 200 as Luke Hollman drives at Matthew Waite and an edge loops to Gareth Roderick who dives forward to claim the catch behind the stumps.

  3. 50 runs

for Keith Barkerpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 269-7

The Edgbaston crowd used to love watching Keith Barker score half-centuries, but they won't have enjoyed this one.

With that said, there was a decent round of applause as Barker - now of Hampshire - brought up 50 from 98 balls and his efforts with the bat have almost taken the visitors into the lead now. They trail by just three.

All of this is extremely good news for Yorkshire. If Warwickshire fail to win, Yorkshire are safe.

  4. wicket

WICKET Thompson c Taylor b Gohar 11published at 16:04 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 155-7 (target 241) v Glos

Zafar Gohar grabs his third wicket as Jordan Thompson dabs one to Jack Taylor at slip.

Gloucestershire need just three more wickets, Yorkshire need another 86 runs.

Matt Fisher joins Dom Bess, who is 35 not out.

  5. Tense finish in prospect at Headingleypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 154-6 (target 241) v Glos

The floodlights are on as the teams return to the field, still tussling fiercely in a match that could well decide whether Gloucestershire drag Yorkshire into Division Two with them.

The home side will be safe if they can find their way to 241, while Gloucestershire need four wickets to round off their season on a high.

Dom Bess and Jordan Thompson have knocked off another three runs from the first two overs of the session - they need another 87.

If Warwickshire fail to win, Yorkshire will be safe no matter the result at Headingley.

  6. Maximum bonus pointspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 401-6

Stephen Eskinazi strikes Ed Barnard for four and Middlesex have got to 400 with an over to spare!

A fifth batting point is secure and that pretty much secures Middlesex promotion.

They would somehow have to lose the game to be denied now.

Crushing disappointment for Glamorgan who are on course for 24 points down at Hove.

  7. Evening session begins at New Roadpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 393-6

Back out under Worcester Cathedral and Middlesex require just seven runs in three overs to secure their final batting bonus point.

And that'll mean a draw is good enough to seal promotion no matter what Glamorgan do.

  8. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-9d & 81-2 v Durham 207

A meaningless period of Notts batting just to give their bowlers a rest.

They surely didn't need it with Durham so far behind and this being the final game of the season.

Perhaps the ECB didn't want Stuart Broad in the field for so long?

Either way, we just wait there for when Notts want to start bowling again.

  9. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 242-7

If it was Warwickshire's morning, the afternoon belonged to Hampshire.

James Vince fell just two short of a century, but Aneurin Donald (36) and former Bears man Keith Barker, who is 29 not out at the interval, have helped to lift Hampshire to just 30 behind.

Time is running out for Warwickshire, who must win to have any chance of staying in Division One.

  10. KENT BEAT SOMERSETpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 28 September 2022
    Breaking

Kent (492) beat Somerset (202 & 139) by an innings and 151 runs

After securing their survival yesterday, Kent have dished out an absolute pasting to Somerset.

Sajid Khan had a bit of fun at the end for the visitors, smashing 40 off 19 balls before he was the last man to go to Hamidullah Qadri.

Kent climb to fifth in Division One for the time being, while Somerset will finish seventh if Yorkshire fail to beat Gloucestershire.

  11. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 151-6 (target 241) v Glos

All results are still possible, but relegated Gloucestershire look favourites to finish their season with a second victory.

David Payne and Zafar Gohar have taken two wickets apiece, with Yorkshire six down and still 90 short of victory.

Dom Bess, who hit two boundaries off Tom Price in the last over before tea, is still there on 32, with Jordan Thompson on 10.

Maybe the scene is set for departing Yorkshire skipper Steven Patterson to hit the winning runs this evening?

  12. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 88-0 v Glam 533-9d

Glamorgan have done all they can at Hove so far but it's possible their energy is draining with the news from New Road.

No breakthrough so far having asked Sussex to follow-on.

  13. wicket

WICKET Higgins c Roderick b Barnard 12published at 15:31 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 392-6

Middlesex need just eight more in four overs for maximum batting points.

But Ryan Higgins' little cameo is over.

Ed Barnard has him caught behind but Higgins' couple of fours has almost got his side to that crucial fifth batting point.

They take tea at New Road.

  14. 100 runs

for Stevie Eskinazipublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 392-5

A fine hundred from Stevie Eskinazi.

179 balls and 16 fours for his second hundred of the summer.

He's glued his side together on this third day when things may have got tricky.

  15. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 380-5

Five more overs left in bonus-point territory at New Road.

Middlesex need another 20 for the full haul that would ensure their promotion with a draw.

So these next five overs are absolutely critical for Glamorgan.

  16. wicket

WICKET Vince c Davies b Briggs 98published at 15:19 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 230-7

James Vince misses out on his hundred as he goes to cut Danny Briggs and nicks it behind.

Relief for Warwickshire, who finally break Vince's partnership of 63 with Keith Barker and still have hopes of some kind of first-innings lead.

  17. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 371-5

29 needed for Middlesex's final batting point in seven overs with Ryan Higgins now alongside Stevie Eskinazi.

  18. 50 runs

up for Sussexpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 51-0 v Glam 533-9d

A strong start for Sussex following-on - they also made a good start first time around too.

Tom Haines back out there carrying on from his unbeaten 108 alongside Ali Orr.

  19. wicket

    WICKET Lyth c O Price b Gohar 49published at 15:05 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 119-6 (target 241) v Glos

    Huge wicket for Gloucestershire!

Zafar Gohar finds some bounce and Adam Lyth can only fend it to slip, where Ollie Price takes a tumbling catch.

Yorkshire staring down the barrel now, with all their specialist batters gone and 122 still needed.

  20. wicket

WICKET Simpson b Gibbon 92published at 15:00 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 361-5

Middlesex were strolling towards their fifth batting point with John Simpson's brisk innings playing a vital hand.

But he's fallen short of a hundred and 39 are still needed in 10 overs.

Simpson overbalanced a fraction try to whip Ben Gibbon's left-armers to leg and has lost his leg stump.

A shame for Simpson, it was just the innings his side needed in 121 balls with 13 fours and a six.
