  1. wicket

WICKET Montgomery c Dickson b Raine 9published at 14:55 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-9d & 30-2 v Durham 207

Another Notts batsmen will be cursing having to bat again here.

Matt Montgomery could have strolled off into the winter off the back of his glorious career-best 178.

But he plays forward to one from Ben Raine that swings gently away and nicks it to second slip.

So he ends the season with a tinge of disappointment.

  2. 350 up for Middlesexpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 350-4

A fourth batting point is raised for Middlesex.

They now need to score another 50 in 12 overs to effectively seal promotion - that would leave them with enough draw points if they can't force victory here.

Jim Dale: Superb effort from Ben Allison. What a game he's having. Top score in first innings, 5-32 here, and a superb one handed pick up throw for a great run out. Nice to see how his Essex team-mates are so delighted for him too. What a prospect he looks.

  4. wicket

WICKET Duke b Payne 1published at 14:45 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 105-5 (target 241) v Glos

David Payne strikes again, his second of the innings!

Harry Duke was trying to pull his bat away and could only deflect the ball onto his middle stump.

Gloucestershire are surely favourites now, with just five wickets standing?

  5. 100 runs

up for Yorkshirepublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 100-4 (target 241) v Glos

The runs have certainly dried up for Yorkshire, who were dashing along at a fair lick when George Hill and Adam Lyth were together either side of lunch.

Lyth is still there on 40 not out, with a good deal resting on his shoulders. Harry Duke is there with him as Yorkshire chase this 241 target to beat Gloucestershire and stay up.

However, Hampshire are doing them plenty of favours at Edgbaston.

Essex have bowled Northants out for 163 for a first-innings lead of exactly 100. Ben Allison has continued his fine match with 5-32.

Somerset continue to slide towards defeat at Kent on 70-6 in their second innings. They still need 220 to avoid an innings defeat.

Rory Burns has raced to a half-century for Surrey in their second innings at Lancashire. He's 57 not out in their 76-0.

In Division Two Derbyshire have declared on 568-9. That's a first-innings lead of 319 over winless Leicestershire.

  7. 200 runs

up for Hampshirepublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 202-6

For what it's worth, Hampshire have collected their first batting point, as James Vince drives former team-mate Danny Briggs to the cover boundary.

That doesn't affect anything in itself, with a draw needed for Hampshire to confirm the runners-up spot.

However, it does dent Warwickshire's hopes of having enough time to bowl their opponents out a second time and force victory.

  8. Sussex follow-onpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 0-0 v Glam 533-9d

Glamorgan have indeed enforced the follow-on with victory needed for a chance of promotion.

  9. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 337-4

So with Glamorgan on course to take the full 24 points at Hove, it leaves Middlesex needing maximum batting points to ensure their promotion if they only draw.

They're well placed to get there and have another 17 overs to score another 60.

John Simpson is up to 80 and Stevie Eskinazi 73 in a fifth-wicket stand of 136.

  10. wicket

SUSSEX ALL OUTpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 258 (Currie lbw b van der Gugten 0) v Glam 533-9d

Job done for Glamorgan as Timm van der Gugten wraps the innings up with Brad Currie pinned lbw for a 10-ball duck.

Poor Tom Haines has carried his bat for 108, a great effort.

It leaves a mighty deficit of 275 and, after 62 overs bowling, the option for Glamorgan to send Sussex in again.

  11. wicket

WICKET Slater c Drissell b Potts 8published at 14:20 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-5d & 9-1 v Durham 207

Ben Slater may not look at his captain too often for batting again.

He's squared up by Matty Potts and nicks to first slip to end his season in disappointment.

  12. wicket

WICKET Tattersall b Payne 7published at 14:17 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 95-4 (target 241) v Glos

David Payne (Gloucs)Image source, Getty Images

    Yorkshire are four down!

Jonny Tattersall is the latest to go, clean bowled by David Payne.

Harry Duke is the new man at the crease, with his side still 146 short of the win.

  13. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Warwicks 272-4 dec v Hants 181-6

Keith Barker was a Bears hero in the past, but Warwickshire won't thank him for hanging around the crease today.

Barker has only scored a single so far from 19 balls, but he's helping James Vince to eat away at this deficit, which is now down to 91.

The Hampshire captain is 70 not out and, the longer his side can extend their first innings, the harder it is for Warwickshire to force the victory they need to stand any chance of staying up.

  14. Notts bat againpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Notts 662-5d and 8-0 v Durham 207

Well this is barmy, Notts are batting again!

They are obviously just trying to give their bowlers a rest because they certainly don't need any more runs.

It only took 57 overs to whittle Durham out once so I'm surprised, especially with some rain and bad light potentially around.

  15. wicket

WICKET Hunt lbw b Patel 0published at 14:09 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 253-9 v Glam 533-9d

    Sussex collapsing again!

Ajaz Patel is full and straight and Sean Hunt props forward, misses, and looks fairly adjacent.

He's gone for a third-ball duck and Glamorgan are almost through.

  16. 300 runs

up for Middlesexpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 303-4

John Simpson has gone to an impressive fifty in 74 balls and eight boundaries and passes 1,000 runs in a season for the first time.

Stevie Eskinazi joins him, his a 104-ball effort with 10 fours, and the pair have taken Middlesex to a third batting point.

  17. wicket

WICKETSpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Sussex 252-8 v Glam 533-9d

Two in two balls for Timm van der Gugten!

Sean Hunt comes out and survives the hat-trick.

Before that, Charlie Tear was beaten by a full ball angled in and was given out lbw - I'd have liked DRS on that, it may have snuck down leg.

Next ball, Jack Carson has his stumps totally rearranged by a quick, straight delivery that he played down the wrong line to.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore c T Price b Gohar 7published at 14:02 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

    Yorks 82-3 (target 241) v Glos

This one is really in the balance at Headingley!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore had already clubbed Zafar Gohar for six, but he tries to repeat that feat with another straight drive and this time he falls to a piece of sharp fielding by Tom Price on the boundary, pushing the ball up and completing the catch inside the rope.

Another 159 to get, seven wickets standing...

  19. Elsewhere...published at 14:00 British Summer Time 28 September 2022

Somerset are sliding to a big loss at Kent. James Rew has just been dismissed to leave them 42-5 in their second innings and still needing another 248 to avoid an innings defeat.

Surrey are steady in their second innings at Old Trafford on 20-0. But they still trail Lancashire by 283 after being asked to follow-on.

Northants look set to concede a first-innings deficit against Essex. They're 147-7 and 116 behind.

In Division Two Derbyshire have gone past 500 against winless Leicestershire. Wayne Madsen has just fallen for 92, but he now has 1,273 runs this season and is the leading scorer in the country.

  20. NOTTS PROMOTEDpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2022
    Breaking

    Notts 662-5d v Durham 207 (Potts c Slater b Paterson 40)

    Nottinghamshire celebrateImage source, Rex Features

    There is it!

Nottinghamshire collect maximum bowling points - their seventh point of the match - and that is enough to mathematically secure promotion.

Dane Paterson is the man to take the decisive wicket.

Matty Potts pulls to deep midwicket and is held by Ben Slater in the deep.

Steven Mullaney hoists his arms to the sky. Notts are up!

David Bedingham is absent so Durham are all done for 207 and will be following on shortly, several fields behind.
