  1. Durham deducted 10 pointspublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

Notts beat Durham by 462 runs

To add to Durham's miserable final week of the season, they’ve been deducted 10 points by the Cricket Disciplinary Committee.

Nic Maddinson was found to have used an oversized bat in Durham’s game with Derbyshire on 6 September.

He admitted a breach of ECB Directives 3.2 and 3.3.

The CDC accepted it was unintentional and have imposed the penalty for this season.

So it matters not really for Durham, but hopefully a warning to others to make sure their bats conform to the regulations.

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 14-1 (Target 139)

Here comes Oliver Hannon-Dalby steaming in.

He raps Joe Weatherley on the pads and there is a huge appeal, imploring the finger to go up. Not out.

The bowler goes fuller and is whipped away to the midwicket fence.

A couple more singles to complete the over.

    Northants 38-1 (Target 211) v Essex

You don't see this very often, but Northants have taken 14 runs off a Sam Cook over.

Three fours and a two for Ricardo Vasconcelos as he moves to 26 off 22 balls with six boundaries.

  4. Back under way at Hovepublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 418-4 v Glam 533-9d

They return at Hove with Glamorgan’s fate now officially sealed with play abandoned at New Road.

They knew it yesterday afternoon really when Middlesex reached maximum points.

But can they still force victory here?

If Sussex can grow their lead beyond 250 then it’ll become very tricky with 59 overs left in the game.

Tom Haines will be eyeing up a double ton, he’s on 175.

  5. wicket

    WICKET Organ c Davies b Hannon-Dalby 5published at 13:18 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 6-1 (Target 139)

A slightly unconvincing shot from Felix Organ gets him four down to the vacant area at third.

Every boundary will feel so costly to Warwickshire.

But Organ won't get any more and it's a deserved wicket for Oliver Hannon-Dalby as he finally gets the edge of the Hampshire opener.

A 53rd Championship wicket of the season for OHD.

  6. Postpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 2-0 (Target 139)

Liam Norwell to begin at the other end.

Norwell's 49 wickets last summer were a big factor in their County Championship success. In an injury-hit 2022, he has managed only 13.

Warwickshire need a big spell from him as he begins with one off his opening over.

  7. Testing stuff from OHDpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire v Hampshire 1-0 (target 139)

Oliver Hannon-Dalby has the ball in his hand. Here we go...

First ball, he induces a play-and-miss from Felix Organ.

Second ball, a bit more bounce and again it passes Organ's bat.

Third ball, is that another play-and-miss?

Fourth ball, on the money and defended by Organ.

Fifth ball, bat onto pad but again testing Organ's defences.

Last ball, a bit straighter and Hampshire get a leg bye.

A fine opening over from Hannon-Dalby and hope they can get the early wickets they need.

  8. The Bears must come out firingpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec & 177 v Hampshire 311

The Warwickshire players have done their huddle and are heading out into the middle.

The Bears know it is win or bust for their season.

Hampshire need 139 runs to send them down, save Yorkshire and finish second themselves.

  9. MIDDLESEX PROMOTEDpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 29 September 2022
    Breaking

Worcs (225) drew with Middlesex (509)

Play has been abandoned without a ball bowled on the final day at New Road and that means Middlesex get the draw they needed for promotion.

They'll join champions Notts in Division One next season, while Glamorgan will miss out.

  10. NOTTS DIVISION TWO CHAMPIONSpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 29 September 2022
    Breaking

    Notts 662-5d & 121-2d v Durham 207 & 114-9 (Bushnell lbw b Patterson-White 29)

    Notts have wrapped it up!

Liam Patterson-White with the final wicket to seal a gargantuan win over Durham and with it secure the Division Two title.

    Celebrations all around Trent Bridge.

It’s taken only 39 overs to roll Durham over a second time, their season ends in complete humiliation.

But for Notts, many thought they were the best team in Division Two and they have proved it.

  11. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Worcs 225 v Middx 509

No play at all this morning at Worcester because of heavy overnight and morning rain.

It’s now officially lunch and the umpires will then have a look.

  12. 400 for Sussex and lunch.published at 12:32 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Sussex 258 & 406-4 v Glam 533-9d

Sussex - and Tom Haines - continue to frustrate Glamorgan.

The captain now has 169 and the lead is 131 as they take lunch.

  13. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Northants 163 & 19-1 v Essex 263 & 110

Utterly meaningless in terms of the big prizes, but a good game nonetheless.

Northants will need 192 more runs this afternoon with nine wickets in hand.

  14. wicket

WICKET Potts c Montgomery b Paterson 10published at 12:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Notts v Durham 98-8 (Target 577)

A full ball from Dane Paterson brings a drive from Matty Potts and an edge low to the left of second slip very well held.

Notts on the cusp of the title now. Just one more wicket to go.

  15. wicket

WARWICKSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec & 177 all out v Hampshire 311

Dom Sibley goes, trapped LBW, as he tries to go big through the onside off Ian Holland.

His final Warwickshire innings ends on 77 but he simply did not have enough support this morning, albeit in tricky conditions against a good attack.

We are going to have an early lunch. When play resumes, the Bears will have to take ten wickets for 138 runs or less to preserve their Division One status.

Can they do it? They are probably 30-40 runs below what they wanted as a minimum.

  16. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec & 177-9 v Hampshire 311

This is an impossible situation for Warwickshire.

Dom Sibley has to go for big shots while keeping Ollie Hannon-Dalby off the strike, and they have only added four runs off 15 balls.

  17. wicket

WICKET Gay c Pepper b Snater 2published at 12:18 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Northants 163 & 5-1 v Essex 263 & 110

Essex have started in miserly fashion and they have a reward for some very tight bowling.

Emilio Gay had managed two off 14 balls when he is tempted to nibble at one off Shane Snater and is caught behind.

The Northants opener's season ends with 825 runs at an average of 33.

  18. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec & 173-9 v Hampshire 311

Oliver Hannon-Dalby sees off the hat-trick ball.

But he cannot get any runs off the final three balls of the over. It's a double wicket-maiden for James Fuller, whose figures are now 4-31.

  19. wicket

WICKET Norwell b Fuller 0published at 12:15 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Warwickshire 272-4 dec & 173-9 v Hampshire 311

Knocked him over! James Fuller on a hat-trick.

The perfect ball first up to a tailender as it's fast and full and cannons into Liam Norwell's stumps.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Raine b Patterson-White 1published at 12:13 British Summer Time 29 September 2022

    Notts v Durham 87-7 (Target 577)

Liam Patterson-White turns one in past Ben Raine’s forward prod and into his stumps.

Just the tail to knock over now for Notts.

David Bedingham is out with an injured shoulder for Durham so only two more to take.
