190 is not to be sniffed and Hampshire will back themselves being a very good defending team. But Somerset will also take that given their batting power.

  2. Somerset to chase target of 191published at 20 overs

    Hampshire 190-6 v Somerset

Yorker from Roelof van der Merwe to finish and new batter Nathan Ellis skips through for one. Impressive final figures of 2-29 from his four overs by the left-arm spinner.

  3. wicket

WICKET Dawson run out 7published at 19.5 overs

    Hampshire 189-6

A swing and a miss by James Fuller. Tom Banton fails to take it cleanly and Liam Dawson calls for a single, but Banton is able to gather the ball and run him out. After a lengthy debate about whether the batters had crossed, the all-rounder departs.

This is the best I've seen from Somerset at the death under this sort of pressure.

Laim Dawson is the new batter. He drives to long-off and goes through for one.

That's Tom Prest's highest score in T20 cricket in just his 20th game. What a time to make your highest score.

  7. wicket

WICKET Prest c Rossouw b van der Merwe 64published at 19.3 overs

    Hampshire 188-5

That isn't a great ball either, but Tom Prest hits it straight to Rilee Rossouw who takes his second catch of the innings.

    Hampshire 188-4

A full toss and Tom Prest swings it away, just clearing the deep mid-wicket fielder for a maximum.

If there was a spinner you would want in the final over it's probably Roelof. He's one of the best at bowling yorkers.

    Spin to finish.

RVDM bowls full on leg stump and James Fuller squeezes a single to short fine leg.

Jack Brooks has bowled really well here. He's taken all the pace off the ball.

It's getting tense before this final over. How many runs can Hampshire get?

Jack Brooks has 0-32 from his first three overs - can he keep it tight for Somerset in his last?

Not a bad job at all - eight from it, but no boundaries or sixes.

Reaching 200 will be a tall order now for Hampshire.

James Fuller is the new Hawks batter and takes two to long leg from the final ball of the over.

WICKET Whiteley c Lammonby b Green 27published at 17.5 overs

    Hampshire 171-4

A low full toss from Ben Green and Ross Whiteley doesn't miss out - smashing it into the crowd at long-on, the fourth maximum of the Hampshire innings.

But a wider ball by Green proves his undoing as he slashes out to deep backward point where Tom Lammonby proves to have a safe pair of hands.

We need to see a bit more impetus from Tom Prest now, he's played well and we're going to see a lot more of him in the future.

Peter Siddle again and Tom Prest square cuts his third delivery for four. His fourth T20 50 arrives off just 38 balls with a boundary down the ground. Well batted - but does he have something special left for the last three overs?

This is the period when Somerset tend to struggle. It's imperative they restrict Hampshire to 40-45.

Good fielding this time denies Tom Prest a boundary as he gloves the ball over the keeper's head.

He takes two, though, and a single ends the over as he farms the strike. Four more to come.

  20. Could Whiteley make the difference?published at 15:40 British Summer Time 16 July 2022

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Ross Whiteley has already been part of one winning T20 Blast side, with Worcestershire against Sussex four years ago.

And the Hampshire big-hitter now has it in his hands to stay on course for a second - and help set up a final meeting with another member of that winning Worcestershire side, Lancashire's Luke Wood, who was then at New Road on loan.

Lying in wait is another man who was on duty in the final that day four years ago, for Sussex, Lancashire opener Phil Salt.

One thing is for sure. If Whiteley stays in until the end now, it will be very entertaining.
