Hampshire have one of the best bowling groups at the death for economy, Somerset don't.
Somerset really struggle in the last three or four overs and that can make all the difference.
Hampshire 143-3 v Somerset
Only three singles to start the second Lewis Gregory over before Tom Prest beats a diving mid-off to find the boundary.
The next is a full toss which Prest flips away and Lewis Goldsworthy overruns the ball on the boundary to gift away four more.
Preset is now 39 not out, with Ross Whiteley on 15.

Quote MessageThe last five overs normally produces about 60 runs so Hampshire should be looking at around 200.
Hampshire 132-3 v Somerset
Jack Brooks bangs one in and Ross Whiteley pulls it away fine for four. Whiteley doesn't make contact with a similar delivery but it is called a wide, so Hampshire get an extra ball.
Tom Prest tries to ramp the last but it's onto him quicker than he expects and just flicks the gloves. No run.

After Lancashire overhauled 205 with eight balls to spare, what do Hampshire need to be safe against this powerful Somerset batting line-up? Good pitch, hot day, small boundaries - 200 and a bit more, you'd think. Keep an eye out for the 1,000-run barrier to be broken across the day, too.
Hampshire 124-3 v Somerset
Finally, all-rounder Lewis Gregory has the ball for Somerset.
He is a very canny customer, with 149 T20 wickets behind him, but Ross Whiteley pulls a slightly shorter delivery away for a single-bounce four.
Eight an over from here would take the Hawks to 180 - would that be enough, bearing in mind the 200+ scores in the first semi?

Quote MessageWith someone like Ross Whiteley you have to keep it as simple as possible. Anything of length to him is very dangerous.
Hampshire 117-3 v Somerset
Ross Whiteley is under way with a single but Tom Prest can make nothing of Lewis Goldsworthy's final delivery. Just three runs, plus a wicket, from that one.

It never quite looked like it was coming out of the middle of Joe Weatherley's bat. His shots down the ground were clubbed, and that's exactly what that was, and Rilee Rossouw took a good catch.
Hampshire 116-3
Is Lewis Goldsworthy going to be an unlikely bowling hero for Somerset? Joe Weatherley goes aerial over mid-on but Rilee Rossouw runs in and judges the catch nicely against his former team.
Ross Whiteley is the new batter.

Quote MessageYou get value for strong shots on this outfield. You don't have to beat the fielder by much to find the boundary.
Hampshire 114-2 v Somerset
Peter Siddle's first delivery is called a no-ball on height and even worse, it runs away to the boundary off Tom Prest's thigh pad.
Prest can only take one from the free hit, but Joe Weatherley clears extra cover for four.
Only singles follow, but this is a good position for the Hawks, with some big hitters to come.

Hampshire are perfectly poised to aim for a total of 200 plus. They will be happy with the development of these first 10 overs.
Hampshire 100-2 v Somerset
Inventive batting by Joe Weatherley, who times a reverse sweep perfectly for four at the start of a new RVDM over.
The Hawks reach three figures as Tom Prest collects an easy single to long-on from the final delivery.
We reach the half-way point of the innings.

If Somerset can keep Hampshire below 200 then I think they will fancy their chances of chasing this down.
If Hampshire go too far the other side then it's going to be very difficult, as it was at Taunton when Hampshire were allowed to get to 208 and Somerset couldn't quite get there and finished on 194.

Quote MessageA lot of people talk about the yorker but the margin for error is so small. You miss it by not much and it can disappear.
Hampshire 92-2
Tom Prest pulls Ben Green out to mid-wicket and Lewis Gregory is deceived by the bounce as Hampshire pick up a welcome boundary.
Green is generally striving for a full length, but gets it too full and Prest is able to help a full toss down to long leg for four.
Prest can make nothing of a bouncer to end the over and is 23 not out, with Joe Weatherley on 11.
Hampshire 81-2
Somerset continue to ring the changes as RVDM returns.
He mixes things up cleverly, giving the batters absolutely no width, and there only ones and a two from that over.
Hampshire 74-2
Time for Ben Green, Somerset's leading wicket-taker in the competition with 20.
Hampshire need to consolidate for a few moments following the loss of both openers and only five runs come from it.
