I didn't mind that Australia held Mitchell Starc back a little bit.

I really liked the fact the seam was bold upright and he was swinging it back like that. He's been a really good bowler for a few years but we've not seen him swing it like that and that is a really good sign going into the back end of the tournament.

Top edge into the air...but safe!

Gareth Delany mis-times the pull shot from Josh Hazlewood but it lands short of Glenn Maxwell running in from deep fine leg.

Aaron Finch has just wandered off the field. We have seen a replay of him limping while fielding in the deep.

He was struggling with a hamstring problem after his innings so it is obviously still troubling him.

Something to keep an eye on with the rest of the tournament in mind.

That horror start means there's no pressure on these Irish batters, which means they can play their shots and see what happens.

Here's another from Gareth Delany as he plays a lovely cut shot past point for four.

The worm shows Ireland are four runs ahead of Australia. Ireland are 57 for 5 after 7 overs. At the same stage Australia were 53 for 1.

Glenn Maxwell was perhaps a surprise bowling option in the powerplay, but it proved an inspired choice as he removed Paul Stirling and Harry Tector in the same over.

I get the impression that even though Mitchell Starc has got two wickets and they were two good balls he isn't entirely happy. It feels like the ball isn't going where he wants it to and he's already bowled two full tosses.

  7. Ire 49-5published at 6 overs

That's a nice shot from Gareth Delany as he opens the face and guides the ball down to third man for four.

Mitchel Starc went for 14 runs that over after a double wicket maiden in his first.

Here is the first wicket to fall as Pat Cummins bowled Andrew Balbirnie around his legs.

They are two good shots. They weren't bad balls.

After bowling a double wicket maiden with his first over, Mitchell Starc has now been smacked for back-to-back boundaries by Lorcan Tucker.

The first is hammered through mid-wicket, before pulling a short ball just in front of square.

Is the mother of all comebacks on?

This is the Australia team that I expected to turn up at the start of the tournament and were my favourites to win it.

Anyone can lose a T20 game by 100 runs, but it just looks like they are coming good at the right time.

The DLS par score, which is often a useful indicator of how the game is going, is actually 74.

The worm shows Ireland are one run ahead of Australia. Ireland are 35 for 5 after 5 overs. At the same stage Australia were 34 for 1.
  13. Ire 32-5published at 5 overs

Lorcan Tucker launches a little bit of a counter attack in that over, ending it with a thickish inside edge that goes past mid-on and Ireland can run three.

If they are bothered about the net run-rate then yes.

Is it in Ireland's interest to just bat the 20 overs?

I already fear this is the high point of Ireland's innings. To say it went downhill from here is an understatement.

  17. Ire 29-5published at 4.2 overs

Some runs! Lorcan Tucker steps down the track to Pat Cummins and lifts the ball over mid-on for four.

Mitchell Starc just looks too quick. It is swinging a little bit but both batters have been beaten for pace.

There's another one! It was, I'm afraid, the ball that Ravi Bopara nominated.

It was full and straight and George Dockrell was nowhere near it.

    And another!

This is just too quick for George Dockrell. Mitchel Starc goes full and straight again and it easily beats Dockrell's defences.
