Oof, what a shot Andrew Balbirnie.

The Ireland skipper has pulled the ball away almost baseball style and the ball has flown away over deep fine leg for six!

Paul Stirling doesn't hold back. He is trying to crash him through the covers first ball.

That is what I love about Stirlo, he doesn't show any respect to any bowler.

If Ireland are going to win this I feel like they need to be 60-70 off the powerplay with Stirling still there.

There's a signal of intent from Paul Stirling. He looks to heave Josh Hazlewood's first delivery out of the stadium, but the ball can only squirm away behind the stumps' and they run a single.

    Thanks, Callum.

If the Irish are to cause another shock they need a good start to keep ahead of the rate.

Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie once again open the batting. Josh Hazlewood has the ball in hand.

Right, time for a change for us.

Having already beat West Indies and England, can Ireland pull off another upset?

Tom Mallows will take you through the chase.

But, if you only watch one thing from that Australia innings make it this.

A superb piece of fielding from Barry McCarthy.

How do these players do it?

There was plenty of power from Australia too.

They hit seven sixes in that innings.

Here's three of the Australia wickets to fall.

On the whole Ireland bowled and fielded pretty well. It just went off for two overs in the back 10 and that allowed Australia to get up to a very good score.

  9. 'Pitch is slow and uncomfortable'published at 09:45 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2022

Australia batter Mitchell Marsh: "We’ve done very well there. We’re on par. It’s probably not the standard Gabba wicket - it was slow and uncomfortable so we’ve done well to get up to a par score.

"Aaron Finch has probably done a minor hamstring, but I haven’t been down to the changing room yet. He’s out warming up ahead of fielding so I imagine he’s alright."

That's par for me at the Gabba. The Irish need to get off to a good start now. I think the wicket will suit Paul Stirling, someone who is very strong square of the wicket.

  11. Aus 179-5published at 20 overs

Two to finish. Matthew Wade dones't get all of it but he and Tim David are able to scramble back for two.

Mark Adair finishes with 0-59 from his four overs. Not his day.

Ireland will need 180 to win.

  12. Aus 177-5published at 19.5 overs

    Remarkable shot.

Matthew Wade gets down low ready for the ramp, but Mark Adair is wary to it.

Wade is really clever though and is able to adjust his shot and steers past short third and away to the boundary.

  13. Aus 173-5published at 19.4 overs

A good slower ball by Mark Adair and it's missed by Tim David, but they scurry through for a leg-bye.

  14. Aus 172-5published at 19.3 overs

Tim David works two into the leg-side, before carving over mid-off for four.

He didn't get all of it, but it was enough to clear the fielder and run away.

  15. Aus 166-5published at 19.1 overs

Mark Adair is bowling round the wicket, into the legs of Tim David.

The big man is able to just flick the first ball fine for four.

Pressure back onto Adair, who went for 26 in his last over.

Ireland have bowled 45 dot balls.

As a team we always look to bowl 50 dot balls. Do that and you have a great chance of winning the game. So they are there or thereabouts the Irish.

Here is that brilliant piece of fielding from Barry McCarthy.

Watch it once, watch it twice, watch it three times and you might just start to understand how he did it.

    Ridiculous.

  18. Aus 162-5published at 19 overs

Two singles - one apiece for Matthew Wade and Tim David - end the over.

Josh Little finishes with 2-21 from his four overs. It's another good night for the left-armer - he's really starting to appear on people's radar.

Joshua Little's bowling: 12% full, 50% good length and 38% short. 4 overs, 0 maidens, went for 21 runs, took 2 wickets with an economy of 5.25.

Is this the momentum swing the Irish needed?

These last three overs they have really pegged the Aussies back. They were looking at a big score, now they are looking at a par score.

    Well bowled, Josh Little.

Ireland are starting to pull it back again.

Josh Little is doing a really good job here. He's angling it across the right-handers with his left-armers and the Aussie batters are having to stretch all the time.

Marcus Stoinis looks to steer between short third and point but can only direct it straight into the hands of George Dockrell.

He goes for a handy 35 off 25 balls.
