Rauf has been expensive today and it's another boundary for Markram. This could be the difference between winning and losing.

Rauf relies on the skid but there isn't any on this wicket.

  2. SA 65-2published at 7 overs

    Target 186

This pitch is an absolute belter.

Aiden Markram twice finds the cover boundary with glorious shouts.

The over goes for 17 and Haris Rauf, who is normally so reliable for Pakistan, has gone for 37 from his two overs.

What does Babar Azam do here?

Bavuma stepped across from this back foot and swept it over. It's like a standing up sweep shot.

    What a shot.

Temba Bevuma shuffles outside off-stump and whips over square leg for another six. That one went 85m.

There is rain in the air again.

  5. SA 48-2published at 6 overs

    Target 186

    End of the powerplay,

It's been a decent enough start for South Africa, but they would have probably rather have another wicket in the shed.

They need 138 from 84 balls. It's going to be tight.

  6. SA 39-2published at 5 overs

    Target 186

    This innings is weird.

The odd-numbered overs have gone for one, one and three. The even-numbered overs have gone for 14 and 20.

Either way, we've had enough overs to get a result now. That's good for Pakistan, a rained-off game would have seen them eliminated.

Bavuma is taking advantage of the field being up. It's been a pretty poor over. Too short and just got his length horribly wrong.

South Africa have dispatched all the bad balls to the boundary.

South Africa's diminutive captain Temba Bavuma is starting to strike the ball well in these innings.

Pakistan so far this evening have looked really good.

  9. SA 36-2published at 4 overs

    Target 186

    This game is absolutely ridiculous.

Something is happening on every single ball.

We had two run-out reviews in that over and three boundaries - one for Temba Bavuma and two for Aiden Markram - as Haris Rauf goes for 20 in his first over.

  10. Not outpublished at 3.4 overs

    Wow!

Another brilliant dive means that Temba Bavuma is home, by an inch or so.

The South Africa skipper pushed a single down the ground, and Mohammad Wasim retrieved quickly, but his throw was a loopy under-arm one and that probably allowed Bavuma's dive to get him home.

  11. Third umpirepublished at 10:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

    Oh no.

Having survived one run-out opportunity, we're going to look for another against Temba Bavuma.

This one feels a lot closer.

  12. Not outpublished at 10:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

    SA 22-2

    The dive does save him.

His whole bat is effectively over the line by the time the bails are removed.

    Good running in the end.

  13. Third umpirepublished at 3.2 overs

Has Temba Bavuma been run out looking to get back for a second?

I think the dive might have saved him...

  14. Postpublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

As I've said a few times the whole Pakistan innings was just chaotic.

This was another moment of confusion and chaos.

Mohammad Nawaz was given out lbw, but had clearly hit it, but didn't review because he thought he'd been run out anyway.

If the umpire had raised his finger for the lbw before the run out - we didn't get clarity on that - he would have survived on review because the ball becomes dead when the batter is given out.

  15. SA 16-2published at 3 overs

Shaheen Shah Afridi started this tournament looking hesitant as he returned to full fitness.

He looks bang on it now.

His figures are 2-2 from his first two overs. He's put Pakistan on top.

    Unlucky there for Rossouw.

Thick edge and carried all the way. Naseem Shah doesn't have to move far to take it.

Pakistan are holding on to their catches whereas South Africa dropped four.

    WICKETpublished at 2.4 overs

    Rossouw c Naseem b Shaheen 7 (SA 16-2)

    No century today!

Rilee Rossouw looks to upper cut away, but does this get a little big on him? Perhaps.

It results in a thick top edge and it carries all the way down to Naseem Shah at third, who takes a good catch.

Shaheen Shah Afridi now has two wickets today, and 50 in T20 internationals.

Just one bounce into the deep square boundary. Trenched his back foot and hit a great cricket shot.

  20. SA 15-1published at 2 overs

    Lovely shot.

Temba Bavuma stands still and whips Naseem Shah into the square-leg boundary.

That wasn't a shot of a man out of form.

A much better second over for South Africa - 14 from it.
