    Target 186

    Shot!

This ball isn't even that short from Naseem Shah but Rilee Rossouw crouches and helps the ball on it's away, over square leg for six.

    A century on the way?

  2. SA 3-1published at 1.1 overs

    Target 186

Rilee Roussouw is the new batter for South Africa.

    His past five innings: 0, 0, 100*, 109, 0.

    All or nothing kinda player.

This clip sums up the first innings brilliantly.

Sixes, a drop and a wicket.

    It was utter chaos.

Pakistan have the breakthrough and they couldn't have asked for a better start!

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1 over

    De Kock c Haris b Shaheen 0 (SA 1-1)

    Gone! BIG wicket.

After four dot balls the pressure was on Quinton de Kock, and naturally the big shot comes.

But it comes off the toe end of the bat and is straight to Mohammad Haris at short mid-wicket. There's a little bobble, but he holds on.

De Kock has the ability to have taken this game away from Pakistan so that is a crucial early blow struck.

Time for the chase to begin.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has the ball in the hand and South Africa captain Temba Bavuma will face up.

  8. Postpublished at 09:55 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

The rain has got lighter at the SCG so the South Africa chase will begin in a minute.

    A reminder:

    • If South Africa win they are the first team through to the semi-finals and Pakistan are eliminated
    • If Pakistan win their semi-final hopes are still alive and they'll battle with India, South Africa and Bangladesh on the final day for a place in the top two

South Africa's bowler Anrich Nortje: "I'm obviously happy with the start, then at the end there were too many boundaries, but all-in-all I'm happy with the performance.

"There's a little bit of rain and drizzle that contributes to the wicket getting better. It was a good test in the previous games we came out on top and its good to see how we are performing.

"I'm sure we can get 185 runs."

Wayne Ellis: South Africa have made a complete mess of this.

The fact Pakistan hit 10 sixes in their 20 overs is a major factor behind their score of 185-9 to be fair.

There was some serious power on show.

  12. Postpublished at 09:49 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2022

When Pakistan were 43-4 I didn't expect them to make 185. They've done brilliantly.

I have no idea how they got there either. I looked up and suddenly they had 130 on the board.

    Thanks Ffion.

I have no idea what I've just watched for the last hour and 45 minutes.

Every ball felt like it was a wicket, six or drop.

South Africa were ragged in the back 10, but with their batting line-up they are more than capable of chasing 186.

This should be an absolute cracker.

I don't think I breathed in that last five overs.

That whole thing was just... bonkers. Like I can't even remember half of it, it was just chaos.

All I know right now is that South Africa need 186 to win.

You can certainly always count on Pakistan for entertainment, can't you?

Here's Callum Matthews to take you through South Africa's chase and to try and attempt to sum up what just happened.

It's an absolute circus out there. A good effort in the end by the South Africans but the damage was done in the last 10 overs.

Rauf run out (Klaasen) 3 (Pak 185-9)

I have absolutely no idea what has just happened.

So there was a drop, nearly, from a very tough chance in the outfield.

The throw comes in and then there's like four attempts at a run out. Eventually, it's given out but what on earth have I just seen? The whole innings was absolute chaos.

Rossouw got a lovely ovation from the Pakistan fans behind him in the crowd there after that catch. He gives them a thumbs up as a thank you.

  18. Pak 180-8published at 19.4 overs

Kagiso Rabada is bowling a gem of a final over here.

A wicket, and just three runs so far.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.1 overs

    Iftikhar c Rossouw b Rabada 51 (Pak 177-8)

    A team hat-trick and a brilliant catch.

Iftikhar Ahmed's fantastic knock comes to an end as he attempts one six too many, with Rilee Rossouw taking a stunning leaping catch over his head at long-on, securing his balance perfectly to land inside the ropes.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19 overs

    Wasim c Bavuma b Nortje 0 (Pak 177-7)

Two in two. An expensive Nortje over ends with two wickets.

Mohammad Wasim has a swing but is unable to time it, and the ball balloons up in the air for a simple catch for Bavuma.

And breathe. What a mad over.
