    Buttler c Crane b Thompson 6 (Originals 12-1)

Mason Crane, take a bow! What a grab!

The pressure tells on Jos Buttler as he takes an ugly swipe and the ball swirls high, high in the air. Mason Crane runs a fair distance alongside the keeper, eventually decides to go for it himself and manages to cling on.

Spirit's celebrations tell you all you need to know how big a wicket that is, they are buzzing.

That is smart batting from Phil Salt. He created room and targeted the small boundary with the ball spinning that way.

  3. Originals 10-0published at 90 balls left

    Target 161

Oooh! Buttler tries the big shot but a stunning diving save on the boundary from Glenn Maxwell, fully stretched like a goalie saving a penalty, means they only run two.

Phil Salt makes no mistake next ball, smashing the final one from Liam Dawson's set of five to the ropes.

  4. Originals 2-0published at 93 balls left

Jos Buttler is a bit fidgety. He's poking and prodding at the ball without much certainty.

When will he try to break free?

That was a very good start from Chris Wood. With that set and the way Kieron Pollard finished the innings they have got the momentum at the moment.

  6. Originals 2-0published at 95 balls left

    Target 161

Chris Wood gifts the Originals their first run from a wide ball before Jos Buttler scampers a quick single.

    They are up and running.

It was a tough one not to review with it being Jos Buttler and the fourth ball of the innings. I probably would have reviewed it.

  8. Not outpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 8 August 2022

Pitching outside the leg stump, Chris Green calls it.

    Buttler survives.

There are two things for me: is it pitching in line and is it hitting the stumps?

That was a huge appeal for lbw. The keeper and slip both wanted it.

  11. Spirit reviewpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 8 August 2022

Now then! Eoin Morgan sends one upstairs as he thinks Jos Buttler is out lbw.

I'm not convinced, but then again, I'm not an umpire. Let's see.

That is a very good start from Chris Wood. It is the opposite to what Originals did at the start of the innings where they went full, Wood has already gone into the pitch.

  13. Originals 0-0published at 99 balls left

    Target 161

Oooh! A nervous poke at the ball from Jos Buttler first ball and it whizzes past his bat.

    A good start from Wood.

  14. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 8 August 2022

The Originals' powerful opening partnership of Jos Buttler and Phil Salt strides to the middle.

Chris Wood will bowl the first five balls. Genuinely can't call this one - let's hope we're in for a cracker.

There is power in the Manchester Originals side and they've got a nice mix of power and finesse. Laurie Evans is very much a finesse player while Jos Buttler can play both roles.

As the temperature drops and the floodlights come on you can anticipate that the ball might just come onto the bat that little bit better and that should suit guys like Andre Russell.

The first 25 balls are going to be imperative to decide how the rest of the game goes.

Manchester Originals were slowing them down though, with some sharp work in the field.

Will 160 be enough? Let's find out.

And Eoin Morgan kept it going.

That was a phenomenal shot. He took a step to leg side to give him a base to hit it if it was full. It was an explosive end to the innings. It didn't look like Spirit would get up to 160 but Pollard has hoisted them up there. They'll be able to learn lessons from that bowling innings too.

Cheers, Kal! Decent that from London Spirit.

Kieron Pollard got them up to 160 - how crucial could that last ball six prove to be? It was a beast.
