Still a long way to go but, as it stands, it looks like Will Smeed's brilliant century - the first in The Hundred - will be the match-winning knock.

It would certainly be fitting but, as I say, there's a long way to go.

It's one of the things that irritates me, people not looking at net run rate at the start of the tournament.

Well, Brave have to keep going hard from here, there's not much they can do. It's always important to get as many as you can even if you are losing.

We're reached the halfway stage and the Brave have gone it all to do.

They take six runs from Helm's five balls and while two runs a ball is well within reach these days, the wickets lost make it a big ask.

I think it's over now. The Brave have to try and get as many runs now to get their net run rate up.

What a catch! Slid across the turf and that's the big wicket.

    David c Howell b Brookes 11 (Brave 71-4)

Big wicket - and another superb catch!

I said that boundary might help Tim David get going but what do I know!? Very little as it turns out (I know, it came as a shock to me, too).

Brookes went short again and David didn't get hold of the pull shot. Benny Howell came running around the boundary and holds onto a brilliant catch as he slid on his knees.

  9. Brave 68-3published at 58 balls left

    109 runs needed

David has struggled to get going but this will help, four sliced away through backward point off Brookes.

It had the legs from Davies to go over Livingstone's head!

It was a googly from Tahir, but Davies had plenty behind it.

  12. Brave 62-3published at 60 balls left

    115 runs needed

Big hit! Alex Davies is still hitting them well and adds six to the total with a clean strike, high over long on to ruin Imran Tahir's first set.

The Brave are still well in this one.

  13. Brave 51-3published at 65 balls left

The Phoenix are well on top but that could be a costly drop, Tim David might be in earlier than he or the Brave would choose as a finisher but he can really cause some damage when he gets going.

  14. Tim David dropped on 2published at 66 balls left

    Brave 50-3

Big chance for the Phoenix to ram home their advantage. The dangerous Tim David flicks the ball off this pads and out towards deep backward square.

Tom Helm comes in and manages to get both hands to the ball as he dives but can't cling on. Relief for the Brave.

  15. Brave 46-3published at 70 balls left

    131 runs needed

Brilliant from Henry Brookes, a wicket and two runs from his first five balls.

It continues the theme of the Brave innings. All or nothing. Feast or famine. Pick your own cliche, they've gone from one extreme to the other so far.

That's a massive blow for the Southern Brave.

He's an exciting talent, isn't he? Henry Brookes. Anyone who has seen him will know he has genuine pace, he comes from a family of cricketers.

There's not many people who can do Quinton de Kock for pace.

    De Kock c&b Brookes 15 (Brave 45-3)

Too quick for him! Banged in by Henry Brookes, it's onto De Kock quickly and he gets himself in a tangle trying to pull it away.

The ball loops up and Brookes takes a simple return catch. That is some going to beat De Kock for pace.

That's the danger, de Kock will find a way to hurt you.

The worm shows Southern Brave Men are two runs behind Birmingham Phoenix Men. Southern Brave Men are 44 for 2 after 25 balls. At the same stage Birmingham Phoenix Men were 46 for 1.
  19. Brave 44-2published at 75 balls left

    133 runs needed

De Kock carves the ball away over point to add four more to the Brave total.

After those two quick wickets, they seem to be back on track with Davies and De Kock both striking the ball very nicely indeed.

  20. Brave 39-2published at 77 balls left

    138 runs needed

Quinton de Kock makes this look so easy.

He moves across his stumps before Richardson even releases the ball and just helps the ball on its way over the fine-leg boundary for six.

It's been all or nothing for the Brave so far.
