Suzie Bates would have backed herself to have taken that catch, she has such safe hands. But it perhaps came to her quicker than expected.
Spirit easily beat Superchargers by seven wickets with 18 balls to spare
Rossington hits quickest Hundred fifty - off just 15 balls - before falling for 66
Superchargers post 143-5, with Du Plessis making 56 off 35 balls

I mentioned that Danni Wyatt had struggled to get going but she has been given a wake up call now. She tried to hit Sophia Smale over mid wicket, didn't get the elevation but Suze Bates can't hold on to the catch.
Wyatt has already made the stand-in Invincibles skipper pay. thumping a pair of boundaries in the balls since.
Southern Brave are now 61-0 after 34 balls.

Eoin Morgan says Glenn Maxwell is the biggest diva...Maxwell on player mic hasn't denied it!
"I'm a bit whingey" says the Australian.
Du Plessis 13, Willey 15
Willey and Du Plessis are having to put the miles in their legs running between the wickets because they're not managing to find the boundary. And that is not fun even on a cold day let alone a heatwave.
Meanwhile, Saqib Mahmood is convinced his voice has got lower overnight...
Southern Brave have powered their way to 41-0 after 25 balls. Well, more accurately, Smriti Mandhana has powered them to that tally - she's 32 not out from 19 balls.
Danni Wyatt has yet to really get going.
Marizanne Kapp, Shabnim Ismail, Mady Villiers. All bowlers with international experience and all unable to find an answer to the questions Mandhana is posing.
The India left-hander has been imperious so far.

Willey and Du Plessis are talking about the pitch, they are both struggling out there.
Du Plessis 12, Willey 11
It's been great from Maxwell so far and they're struggling to get him away. There's definitely some turn in this pitch.
Du Plessis already with the glove change. And in this heat...I am not surprised.

There's not exactly been a lot of power from the Superchargers, it's been good bowling.
Du Plessis 11, Willey 8
Du Plessis copped one on the ribs there but is pretending it didn't hurt. Let's just say a job in acting is not on the cards...
That's the end of the Powerplay and it's gone in the favour of London Spirit.

Spirit did not have a great time of it last year, but it does not take Eoin Morgan long to get his head around the tactics.
Have some of that. David Willey smashes the ball back along the ground past Nathan Ellis for four. That would have hurt if it hit him. I shudder thinking about it...
Du Plessis 11, Willey 3
Willey and Du Plessis are just starting to get going now. Two boundaries in that set.

Du Plessis whips that bottom hand through it, almost gets top spin like off a tennis racket. Well timed, great wrists.
Du Plessis 2, Willey 1
Willey is back in the side. We know what he can do with the bat and he's alongside one of the best in the game when it comes to destructive batting.
But Du Plessis isn't quite seeing it right yet and failed to capitalise on a free hit while Ellis is hitting his line and length perfectly and not giving much away.

Leaving your skipper Dane van Niekerk out who was so instrumental to winning the title for Oval Invincibles last year, is a big call.
But what I do know is that Dane is part of the selection panel and Suzie Bates did well in the last game, so they have obviously gone with the best 11 they think can win this game.
Smriti Mandhana looks in great form for the Southern Brave in the women's match at The Oval, the visitors are 20-0 after 10 balls.
The left-hander started the innings with back-to-back boundaries off Marizanne Kapp, including a gorgeous cover drive.
A reminder that the Oval Invincibles have left out captain Dane van Niekerk. A bold move but she is coming back from a long-term injury so that may have played a part in the thinking?

This is why match ups are so crucial, you do your homework and analysis, and Morgan was all over this one. Lyth got himself in a bit of a pickle, and that is a mark up for the analysts.
Du Plessis 1, Willey 1
More dots than a dalmation...(thank you Henry Moeran for that one)
