Pace off, the off cutter once again has deceived the batsman. It is spinning here.
That's tough, but it is a chance.
Dawid Malan mistimes a shot and the ball flies off the edge towards David Payne, but he cannot quite stretch high enough in the air to take the catch off his own bowling.
Malan survives. And he is not a man you want to give second chances too.

Terrific powerplay from Trent Rockets, once again. These two highly sought-after cricketers showing once again why they are so good in this format.
Alex Hales has got such strong wrists. He's one of the best with those flicks.
This is all about timing and footwork from Alex Hales as he gives himself some room outside off stump and just guides the ball square and through point for four.

It was just a flick of the wrists there! There you go, he's got his payback. It's an expensive set again.
Alex Hales is fine and right back in the runs, clipping George Scrimshaw through mid-wicket for four.
Rockets reach 42-0 at the end of the power play. I think they will be happy with that.
Ouch. Alex Hales misses an attempted pull off a short ball from George Scrimshaw and the ball smacks right into his ribs.
There's a bit of industrial language from Hales too as collapses to the floor. That looked like it hurt.
There's a brief break as the physios come out to check on him.
That is a lovely shot too as Dawid Malan plays a front foot push through the covers, but David Miller does well to claw the ball back before the boundary and Rockets run three.

Lovely pick-up. He had the length to pick up there, but lovely wrist work and power. That's gone 20 rows back!
George Scrimshaw has not had the best start to this game. First he fumbled the ball in the field to gift Dawid Malan a boundary and now Malan has smashed his first delivery into the stands for a huge six!
Jake Ball will bowl the fourth set and Dawid Malan eyes another boundary as he plays a lovely cover drive, but it is well cut out by the fielder at mid-on.
Ball is varying his length as Hales has to dig out a yorker for just a single. A slower ball is then dabbed away by Malan for a single.
Just the four singles of that set. Much better from Welsh Fire.

Excellent balance from Malan. It was a long half volley and the intent was right there. Given how this surface is playing, I would have seen a bit more pace off from Payne.
Time for a bit of seam as left-armer David Payne comes steaming in.
That is a lovely wristy shot from Dawid Malan though as he pounces on an over-pitched delivery and clips the ball through mid-wicket for four.
Beautiful shot.

Ish Sodhi causing some early problems, but overall, it's been a good start for the Rockets.
Alex Hales looks to the heavens as he fails to properly connect with another attempted heave off Ish Sodhi and the ball flies off the edge into the leg-side.
Still, a solid enough start from the home side.

He didn't mean to hit it in that area but we've seen how lightning quick this outfield can be. Fortunate boundary, but it races away once it passes the infield.
Ish Sodhi has impressed since joining Fire mid-tournament and opens at the other end.
He is a little unlucky too as Alex Hales scampers down the track attempting to hit over the top, but the ball squirts out into the on-side and races away through fine leg for four.

I really think what Malan has done so well is how he's got off to great starts from ball one.
There were questions on how he starts his innings, obviously he's great when he kicks on, but he's been great this Hundred with his starts.
Nope. Alex Hales had got his foot back into the crease just in time.
