England are in a bit of a habit of losing a wicket just as a partnership starts to build and it just keeps stalling their momentum and the flow of runs.

Credit to South Africa for sticking at it, they've persevered well.

Jon: Bosch is right up there with Boult in the excellent seam bowler names category!

Amy Jones is the new batter and she out the remainder of the Bosch over. A wicket maiden.

England find themselves needing to rebuild yet again.

It was just a fraction fuller from Bosch and that's what drew Dunkley into the drive. It was a comfortable height but well taken at first slip by Andrie Steyn.

That's a loose drive from Sophia Dunkley. She is absolutely disgusted with herself. That is a big wicket.

    Dunkley c Steyn b Bosch 18 (Eng 120-4)

Edged and gone! It's three for Bosch! Dunkley had been playing well and perhaps a bit of over-confidence has cost her. She went for the big drive, Bosch got the ball to hoop away and the nick carried comfortably to Andrie Steyn at first slip.

England in a bit of trouble.

  7. Eng 120-3published at 40 overs

Both England batters look keen to get after the left-arm spinner, who drags a couple down early in the over. Neither Sciver or Dunkley are able to take full advantage though as they pull for singles.

Sciver goes back again to the last ball and punches nicely through the covers for two.

Nat Sciver is one of the best players of spin in the world. I think we'll see these two being positive against the spin and force the captain to bring her tired seamers back on.

We're going to see spin for the first time in the innings as Nonkululeko Mlaba is brought on.

  10. Eng 116-3published at 39 overs

It feels harsh on Lee to call that a drop, it was a really tough chance. But when it is someone as danger as Sciver, those are the opportunities you have to take.

    Emily Windsor
Southern Vipers batter on BBC Test Match Special

Nadine de Klerk is gutted, she's on her knees! She clearly expected more from her fielder but I think that reaction is harsh, it was so tough!

That was there to hit from Sciver, she just hasn't executed it.

It would've been a screamer from Lee, mind you.

    Eng 114-3

Tough chance but a let off for Sciver! Short and wide from De Klerk, Sciver tried to cut it but sent a thick outside edge towards gully where Lizelle Lee dived but couldn't cling on with her right hand.

  14. Eng 111-3published at 38 overs

Over-pitched from Sekhukhune and Dunkley drills a drive between extra cover and mid-off, the ball reaches the rope in no time. Shot of the afternoon so far. It's been a confident start from Sophia Dunkley.

It is cloudy and overcast but when the wind is strong and blustery like it is today, it can make it harder to swing the ball and we've seen that today.

If it's a gentle breeze going across the ground it can be helpful, but it's not like that at the moment.

If you were a couple of minutes late back after the lunch break then you may have missed a big moment in this Test.

First ball after lunch, England captain Heather Knight was run out trying to pinch a single that was never on...

  17. Eng 106-3published at 37 overs

De Klerk is through another very tidy over for South Africa. Overhead conditions could not be any better for bowling, this is their time to strike.

  18. Morgan retires from international cricketpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

In other news, after it was mentioned as a possibility yesterday, Eoin Morgan has confirmed his retirement from international cricket.

The World Cup-winning captain said said it "hasn't been an easy decision" but "I believe now is the right time to do so".

The slips haven't been in the game much because the ball hasn't carried enough, so I'd like to see South Africa attack by bringing a fielder in close in front of the bat.

  20. Eng 105-3published at 36 overs

    Sciver 15, Dunkley 11

Sciver and Dunkley are ticking over nicely as England try to put the wicket of Knight behind them.

South Africa have tried to keep the pressure on, targeting the stumps, making the England pair keep their wits about them in defence but, as we saw earlier in the over, they've still been ready to pounce when the bad ball does come.
