Next up is Alice Davidson-Richards, who made a brilliant century on debut.

She did it alongsider her former schoolmate Nat Sciver, which made it even more special for the 28-year-old.

Before the Test she spoke about being emotional at being called up, having thought her chance to play again for England had gone after a four-year hiatus - so this would surely have made very emotional.

While we're waiting for news - it is still raining - I'm going to share some of the best clips from this game for you to enjoy again.

    We'll start with Nat Sciver's 169...

Thank you, Sam. You can count yourself as a fully fledged member of the team now you've practically live texted persistent rain for two days. It's a better initiation than singing a karaoke song, surely...

I was starting to think it was getting a bit lighter at Taunton, but a band of darker clouds seem to be creeping in.

Right then, the rain continues to fall at Taunton but I'm sure Callum Matthews will be able to keep you thoroughly entertained as we wait for news of an inspection/ restart/ abandonment.

Just before the rain heavy rain became a full on deluge, England had a chance to finally removed nightwatcher Tumi Sekhukhune. Issy Wong found the edge but Sophie Ecclestone shelled the catch.

Just the seven overs were possible before the rain returned. That was more than long enough for Marizanne Kapp to show her class. The all-rounder peeled off to lovely drives off Kate Cross.

It really is bouncing down now. Not good.

The forecast as I see it is ... what's the right word?

  10. Postpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

Tea is being taken now so no more overs will be lost for a few minutes at least. I fear that could soon become irrelevant, though.

It's very frustrating. We could sit around for another hour and a half but it takes a long time to get those covers off and wait for the ground to be dry enough.

It's very heavy. It looks set in.

Well, we managed to get seven overs in.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 68.1 overs

It has been coming. They have done well to stay out there for as long as they have. The players trudge off as the covers come on and that, unfortunately, could be that.

That dive was like Tammy Beaumont was flopping into a swimming pool.

  15. SA 181-5published at 68 overs

Nat Sciver is into the attack and draws consecutive plays and misses from Kapp. Two big, booming drives that slide past the outside edge.

Kapp drills the last ball of the over through mid-off for four and the rain is really hammering it down now!

It was at a very catchable height for Sophie Ecclestone. She is new to the slip cordon but she still looks disappointed in herself.

It was Wong making the opportunity once again.

It was a good short delivery from Wong. Was that England's last chance?

  18. dropped catch

Sekhukhune dropped on 33published at 67 overs

    SA 177-5

Another chance goes down! Ecclestone at second slip can't hold on. Banged in short by Wong, Sekhukhune fenced at it and the edge when quickly towards the cordon. It was a good height but Ecclestone grassed it.

Before this Test match, Tumi Sekhukhune had scored 24 runs in all international cricket.

The conditions are favouring the seamers at the moment but it would be good to see Sophie Ecclestone have a couple of overs here.
