  1. dropped catch

Bosch dropped on 56published at 14.5 overs

Oh my days! Almost brilliant from Katherine Brunt!

Anneke Bosch looks to swing into between long-on and mid-wicket and makes good connection.

Brunt goes hurtling round from long-on and makes up some very good ground to take a catch over her right shoulder.

The only problem is she's about to go over the boundary rope. She realises and throws the ball back in but isn't then able to get back over the rope in time to complete the catch.

She just didn't quite get enough height on the throw back in.

She smashes her hand into the turf in frustration and looks very angry with herself, but it would have been a sensational catch.

Alice Capsey all last summer in The Hundred she just had a habit of collecting a wicket when the team needed it.

    Goodall c Sciver b Capsey 42 (SA 102-1)

A maiden international wicket for 17-year-old debutant Alice Capsey!

This is what Capsey did in The Hundred too - she comes on and take wickets.

After Lara Goodall reverse sweeps her first ball for four, the left-hander looks to go over the covers but hits it straight up in the air for Nat Sciver.

The stand-in captain and rest of the team run up to Capsey and mob her.

A lovely moment for the teenager.

This is a really important part of the game. South Africa's openers are doing really well but they do need to kick on because there are plenty of batters left in the shed.

They should be aiming for a boundary almost every ball now.

This partnership has been really, really good...

  6. SA 99-0published at 14 overs

Hmmm, maybe spin isn't hard to score off after all.

Anneke Bosch follows up the boundary that brought up her half-century with another into mid-wicket, before they work Sarah Glenn around for four more runs.

There perhaps should have been another boundary off the final ball, but Nat Sciver does brilliantly at short fine leg to stop it getting through.

It's a great start for South Africa, they've come out with excellent intent.

    It's a great first-wicket partnership.

Well deserved half-century for Anneke Bosch this.

It is her second in 11 T20 internationals.

Where was she in the ODIs?

Had that been a direct hit from Amy Jones, Goodall would have been out.

  10. SA 86-0published at 13 overs

    Bosch 46, Goodall 35

Oh, the Katherine Brunt snarl is out. She's trying to hold it in because the fielder in question is 17-year-old debutant Alice Capsey.

She throws to Amy Jones as South Africa look to steal a second run, but the throw should have gone to the bowlers end.

Jones does try to hit the stumps at the non-striker's end - and I think Goodall would have been out with a direct hit, but she misses.

Capsey puts her fingers to the pursed lips. She knows she probably made an error of judgement there.

  11. SA 77-0published at 12 overs

Double spin for England again as Sarah Glenn returns. It is a good over as she concedes just four singles.

It feels like spin is more difficult to score off at the moment so seeming England have overs of both Glenn and Ecclestone elft, plus two overs of Katherine Brunt, South Africa are going to have to target the right balls to get themselves up to a defendable score.

  12. Not outpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 23 July 2022

No, she's almost past the stumps by the time the ball hits the wickets.

    On we go.

Has Lara Goodall been run out at the non-striker's end looking to steal a quick single?

    Nobody seems particularly interested...

  14. SA 73-0published at 11 overs

With England sneaking a breakthrough Nat Sciver returns to Sophie Ecclestone.

The left-arm spinner almost finds it by yorking Lara Goodall, but the left-hander does well to jar down on the ball and keep it out.

Quieter over with just five coming off it.

It's been a really good start from South Africa. They've got a really good base from which to build.

But you sense there are runs to get on this pitch. They need to add more runs if they want to put scoreboard pressure on England.

It's raining boundaries. Suddenly this England bowling attack is really struggling for answers.

  17. SA 68-0published at 10 overs

South Africa are starting to get going here.

Nat Sciver returns and it feels like the tourists have taken a liking to her.

Maia Bouchier does brilliantly to scamper round on the mid-wicket boundary to keep Anneke Bosch down to a couple, before Lara Goodall pulls and flicks away for successive fours.

Half way through the innings - what will South Africa be targeting with 10 wickets in hand? 150 minimum, surely?

Good luck England. I’m in Southampton watching Charlie Dean fielding brilliantly and taking a wicket for Vipers with her second ball. Bell bowling well too. Great strength in depth in the women's game now.

This is a different South Africa.

  20. SA 56-0published at 9 overs

    Bosch 32, Goodall 19

Have South Africa decided now is the time to start upping the ante?

It feels like it as Lara Goodall shuffles across and ramp-flicks the returning Freya Davies away for a very fine four.

That's a shot too. Anneke Bosch gets down on one knee and slog sweeps away to the square leg boundary.

Good over for the tourists with 10 coming off it.
