That was the pressure that has built of Tammy Beaumont.

    Lamb 12, Beaumont 7

    Oh, interesting.

Tammy Beaumont looks to bring out the ramp shot, despite wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia being up to the stumps, and she gets it horribly wrong.

She's quite fortunate as the ball drops safely in the leg side and she's able to get through for a single.

England might know the threat is going to come from Goswami. They will still be pretty happy. It is strange because it is not the fast start we have seen in T20s and The Hundred.

It has been a very quiet powerplay for England.

  5. Eng 16-0published at 6 overs

Tammy Beaumont picks up a couple more as a drive is parried by cover and mid-off has to change the direction of their run to gather.

Beaumont is timing the ball well when she plays a shot with any kind of attacking intent but England are struggling to score freely against a disciplined India bowling attack at the moment.

We had a slight hold up in that over too as Meghna Singh is asked to remove her watch because Beaumont is struggling with the reflection off it.

India have bowled well. They have got a good amount of swing.

  7. Eng 14-0published at 5 overs

A maiden for Jhulan Goswami. Her length and line is always immaculate.

She will provide a really stern test for Emma Lamb.

Meghna has gone for the magic ball and expected it to swing too much. It was easy pickings for Lamb.

  9. Eng 14-0published at 4 overs

Meghna Singh is finding plenty of movement at the moment.

However, if the ball doesn't move, her line isn't the right one. It allows Emma Lamb to work it off her pads for another boundary, through square leg this time.

She gets it right next ball though, and beats a prodding Lamb.

    It's been an even start.

Tammy Beaumont is a fantastic player. She will have been disappointed to have been left out of the T20 series.

  11. Eng 8-0published at 3 overs

    Lamb 5, Beaumont 3

Tammy Beaumont is up and running. She works a ball off her hip and it is timed and placed well enough to bring two.

Beaumont might be playing with a point to prove still. She has been left out of England's Twenty20 squads this summer and very much still feels she has a role to play in that side.

England are unbeaten at Hove in ODIs since 1998. In T20s they have lost six here.

  13. Eng 5-0published at 2 overs

The first boundary of the day.

Meghna Singh is finding a fair bit of movement early on, so she attempts to readjust her line a little but over compensates and Emma Lamb whips a low full toss off her pads for four.

India have started well so far. A good piece of fielding by Smriti Mandhana stops a well-timed drive by Lamb to save another four.

It is incredibly special what Jhulan Goswami has done for women's cricket.

  16. Eng 1-0published at 1 over

There are rumours that Jhulan Goswami, at 39-years-old, will retire at Lord's next Saturday.

She got an injury in March's World Cup so missed a couple of games as India failed to make the semi-finals. It has tempted her into one more tour of England.

She is the leading wicket-taker in women's ODI history with 252. No other player has passed 200.

Goswami, as she so often has over the years, starts in tidy fashion with just a single coming off the first over. There's a little bit of movement there for her too.

There is a lot of talk of this being the end of an era.

This is Jhulan Goswami's 202nd one-day international. It is her first ODI she has played without Mithali Raj.

  18. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

Jhulan Goswami is going to open the bowling for India.

It will be Emma Lamb on strike for England. She was really impressive in the South Africa series earlier in the summer and cemented her place at the top of the order for the forseeable.

You look at that India side and they should be beating most sides, including England. But they are so up and down. They have so much talent.

The minute's silence is perfectly observed at Hove.

The two standing umpires, Sue Redfern and Anna Harris, are making their way out to the middle.

    Play is moments away.
