After three wickets for Cross, Freya Davies took England's fourth after an excellent review from Amy Jones.

Harleen Deol was trapped lbw with UltraEdge showing the ball struck pad first. Once that was established, it was plumb.

  2. drinks break

    Ind 51-4published at 13 overs

Time for drinks and it has been an excellent first hour for England. Kate Cross and Freya Davies did the damage with the new ball and India are now trying to regroup through Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma.

These two batters know that most of the runs will have to fall on their heads and will look to score more now Kate Cross is having a rest.

  4. 50 runs

    Ind 50-4published at 12.4 overs

Slightly too short from Kemp and Mandhana is able to rock back and middle the ball through midwicket on the pull.

Lovely shot for four - and that takes India up to 50.

  5. Ind 43-4published at 12 overs

Steady start from Dean, who is around the wicket to both left-handers.

Both Mandhana and Sharma are keen to sweep and between them take four from the over.

  6. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

With Charlie Dean coming on, it means Kate Cross' excellent opening spell is over. She took 3-11 in those five overs and here is the third of those wickets, the big one of Harmanpreet Kaur.

  7. Ind 39-4published at 11 overs

Seven from Kemp's first over but it's a decent one from the young left-armer. That one boundary with Beaumont going for the catch skewing the figures slightly.

We're going to see some spin now with Charlie Dean set to bowl the next over.

  8. Ind 38-4published at 10.4 overs

    Mandhana 24, Sharma 1

Smriti Mandhana is still there for India and gets another boundary, albeit she might have been a little nervous when the ball left her bat.

She played away from her body and the ball hung in the air as it went it towards cover. Tammy Beaumont decided to dive forward to try and take a spectacular catch but the ball dropped short of her and gets through for four.

England are staying aggressive with just two fielders outside the circle to Smriti Mandhana.

Time for the first bowling change of the day and it's one Freya replacing another, Kemp for Davies.

  11. Ind 32-4published at 10 overs

The end of the powerplay and England's new-ball pair have been superb.

Kate Cross, in particular, has been magnificent and for a moment might have thought she had a fourth wicket. Smriti Mandhana tries to flick leg side but gets a leading edge and the ball just loops over the fielder at mid-wicket.

India just have to dig in and gradually try to rebuild the innings.

  13. Ind 29-4published at 9 overs

Deepti Sharma is out to join Smriti Mandhana with India in big trouble.

There is a long, long way to go in this innings but as we head into the last over of the powerplay, England are in a very strong position.

India's middle order are going to have to really step up here now as they have not had to contribute much so far this series.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.4 overs

    Deol lbw b Davies 3 (Ind 29-4)

It was pad first and once that is confirmed, Harleen Deol may as well start walking. Red, red, red - India are four down.

That's a brilliant review from Amy Jones and Freya Davies has her first international wicket at Lord's.

It really was plumb, hitting halfway up middle.

  16. England reviewpublished at 8.4 overs

Amy Jones goes upstairs for an lbw shout against Harleen Deol.

A full delivery, there were two noises but was it bat or pad first. If it's pad first then England might be in business...

  17. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

This was wicket number two for Kate Cross today. Yastika Bhatia bowled by a delivery that swung late to sneak between bat and pad and thud into leg stump.

  18. Ind 22-3published at 8 overs

    Mandhana 16, Deol 1

A rare bad ball from Cross this morning as she strays onto Mandhana's pads and the India opener is able tickle it away fine. Four very useful runs for India.

That aside, though, it's another fabulous over from Cross. She beat Mandhana's outside edge again with the ball continuing to nip off the surface.

I always love watching the battle between Kate Cross and Harmanpreet Kaur. They are great mates off the pitch but you always feel that they want to get one-up on each other.

Cross is absolutely buzzing. You can see how England celebrated. They know what a big wicket that is.

What a great leveller this game is.

After striking a great ton the other day Harmanpreet Kaur had been brought right back down to earth.
