A rather frustrating innings for Haider comes to an end. It felt like something had to give.

    Haider c Willey b Curran 11 (Pak 109-2)

    England are pulling this back.

Haider Ali was getting pegged down by England and he looks to go for the big shot.

However he doesn't time it properly and it lands straight in the hands of David Willey on the square-leg boundary.

Haider goes for 11 off 13 balls.

  3. Pak 107-1published at 13 overs

    Rizwan 65, Haider 10

    David Willey returns for England.

He has struggled in the middle overs at times but that is a good over.

Just two singles from the over. England are trying to pull this back a little bit.

Colin Mould: I love my cricket. It's many a year since I pulled on my whites but even I'd fancy my chances against this England attack. What are they doing?!

    Shot!

Mohammad Rizwan clears the front leg and slog-sweeps, against the spin, over the ropes for his second six.

Rizwan barely gets mentioned because of how good Babar Azam is, but he's arguably an even better player in T20 cricket.

Haris: Really excited to see Alex Hales bat in Karachi again! My earliest PSL memory of him is hitting a massive six over mid-wicket into the Wasim Bari enclosure a few feet away for me for Islamabad vs Karachi. Went home sad because he eliminated my team but what a player.

  7. Pak 93-1published at 12 overs

    Rizwan 56, Haider 5

Good over from Richard Gleeson with just six runs coming off it.

There were some good subtle changes in pace there.

He's looked at home in international cricket. With injury doubts over both Mark Wood and Chris Woakes ahead of the World Cup Gleeson will know there is a chance he will end up in the 15-man squad, rather than being a travelling reserve.

Just the one over for Moeen Ali as Richard Gleeson is back into the attack after the drinks break.

Pakistan have passed 200 a total of 10 times in T20 internationals and five of those have come in Karachi.

Their highest total in T20 cricket, however, came away from home when they made 232-6 against England at Trent Bridge in July 2021.

  10. Pak 87-1published at 10 overs

A really good over from Adil Rashid, conceding just four runs, alongside taking the wicket.

England will be hoping they can put the squeeze on new batter Haider Ali a little bit now and keep Pakistan's total down.

Haider strikes at 128.5 though, so he's capable of scoring fast.

The first wicket of the day! A much-needed breakthrough for England. A prize wicket.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.3 overs

    Babar b Rashid 31 (Pak 85-1)

The googly does for Babar Azam!

It's brilliant from Adil Rashid as he sneaks the googly through Babar's bat and pad and into middle stump.

    England needed that breakthrough.

The first six of the day for Rizwan and what a way to bring up his half-century!

Another fifty for the world's number one.

    Pak 83-0

Double spin for England now as stand-in captain Moeen Ali brings himself into the attack.

It is a respectful start from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, but the latter then decides to come down the track and plant Moeen over his head for the first six of the game.

I suspect we'll see more over the next three hours and six games.

Pakistan are going very well at the moment. Rizwan in the Asia Cup became the world's number one.

  16. Pak 70-0published at 8 overs

Six runs and a wide from Adil Rashid's first over. There's no sign of an extravagant spin at the moment.

Stand-in captain Moeen Ali is furiously chewing on some gum at the moment. He knows his side need a wicket.

Keeper Phil Salt reminds them. "Catches, run outs, come on boys, two wickets," shouts the Lancashire man.

A change of pace for England.

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid is into the attack.

  18. Pak 63-0published at 7 overs

England can't do anything to stem the flow of runs at the moment.

Sam Curran follows Mohammad Rizwan but the Pakistan keeper is still able to flick off his legs for four more.

Curran goes round the wicket, looking to bowl stump to stump. but Rizwan just advances down the track and hits down the ground for another boundary.

Pakistan are flying. 200 is on the cards.

Nothing too risky from these batters as they've negotiated the powerplay. 51 with no loss.

Pakistan will be delighted with this start. They have shown how good this pitch is. Two fantastic players, Babar and Rizwan, and I think they are the best T20 opening pair in the world.
