  1. Not outpublished at 6 overs

    Pak 51-0

Nah, he's comfortably home. It was a quite sensational full-length dive, which must have seen him slide for at least three or four yards.

Earlier in the over he smashed a gorgeous straight drive away to pick up another boundary.

Is there a better pair to watch than Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam when both are in full flow? They've brought up another half-century stand.

I suppose Jos Buttler and Alex Hales could be pretty good together in Australia in a month's time.

  2. Umpire reviewpublished at 6 overs

Has Mohammad Rizwan been run out looking to get back for a second?

I don't think so, but we're going to check anyway.

Alex Hales fielding in an England shirt. It all feels very 2018.

Perfect timing and perfect placement from Rizwan.

  5. Pak 43-0published at 5 overs

Another bowling change and another Lancashire player as Richard Gleeson comes into the attack.

He strays onto the pads of Mohammad Rizwan and the Pakistan wicketkeeper works him through mid-on to pick up his third boundary.

Gleeson finishes with a very good slower-ball bouncer to bring about a rare dot.

I suppose it is hard to mix them up when you've got three, Rick.

In David Willey, Sam Curran and Luke Wood they will be expected to bowl at least 10 overs you would think.

It is quite hard to avoid them bowling in tandem at some stage.

Rick Harris: Why would we open our T20 seam attack against Pakistan with two left armers? I'm missing the logic here. We are lucky to have the options that left armers bring to mix up the line. So why use them both in tandem?

  8. Pak 36-0published at 4 overs

A tidy start from Luke Wood, conceding just four singles.

There was an appeal for lbw against Mohammad Rizwan but umpire Asif Yaqoob shakes his head.

Wood and Moeen Ali consider a review but they opt against it. Pitching outside leg? I reckon so.

Lancashire left-arm seamer Luke Wood is going to have his first bowl in international cricket.

He has played cricket in Pakistan before. He's played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.

There are few better sights in the game than seeing Babar Azam piercing the covers.

    Expensive over that one.

  11. Pak 32-0published at 3 overs

    Oh, Babar. That is beautiful.

He again pierces the gap between mid-off and cover, but this time has enough on it to reach the boundary.

David Willey's second over goes for 17. Far from ideal for England.

Willey has so little for margin for error but it's easy pickings for Rizwan. Fantastic shot. Magnificent technique.

  13. Pak 26-0published at 2.3 overs

Babar Azam has been struggling for form recently but you wouldn't know it so far.

He stands tall and back-foot punches David Willey through mid-off for three, before a gorgeous cut shot brings Mohammad Rizwan four.

Willey overcorrects and strays onto Rizwan's pads and he gets dispatched for another four.

There is no swing there for Willey and he is struggling to be effective without it.

  14. Pak 15-0published at 2 overs

There are three left-armers in this England side so the chances are that we were always going to open with two of them.

Moeen Ali opts for Sam Curran and he starts well, tying Mohammad Rizwan down with three dot balls, before a dross delivery is pulled to the boundary by Babar Azam.

    A pretty even start.

Everyone is passionate for the game. It is a fantastic place to play cricket and I'm genuinely so pleased to watch this game.

It is so significant and so good for Pakistan.

My mixed feelings are for the people that lost their lives during the Sri Lanka tour in 2009, I will never forget them.

  17. Pak 9-0published at 1 over

Four singles follow. There has been some fantastic running early doors from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. You can tell they are a partnership that are used to batting together.

The TV commentary has just said the pitch at Karachi is considered the best in Pakistan at the moment. The average first-innings score at the ground in the 2022 Pakistan Super League was 182.

Seven of the 15 games there were won by the chasing team, with eight won by the team batting first.

Lovely timing from the Pakistan superstar. Willey offered a straightforward opportunity for Babar Azam to get the scoreboard moving.

  19. Pak 5-0published at 0.2 overs

Mohammad Rizwan works the first ball for a single before Babar Azam flicks off his legs for the first boundary.

    The noise is electrifying.

David Willey is going to bowl the first over for England.

They will be seeking an early breakthrough. Pakistan duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are one of the best opening partnerships in the world.
