  1. 50 runs

50 for Harry Brookpublished at 65.1 overs

    Eng 411-3

A maiden half-century for Harry Brook!

He has played brilliantly - aggressive, but without taking too many risks.

The celebrations don't last too long though, because Ollie Pope is on strike for the next ball on 99...

England have followed the Brendon McCullum philosophy to the letter and made it impossible for Pakistan to get any control.

This is quite an outstanding batting performance from the tourists!

  4. 6 runs

    Eng 410-3published at 65 overs

I was about to say "don't bowl there", but in fairness it doesn't matter where Pakistan bowl it at the moment.

It's too short from Haris Rauf and Harry Brook just pummels it over mid-wicket for six. Is that the first of the day?

    Ridiculous shot.

    Thanks, Aymen!

And my second stint of the live text picks up exactly where I left it the first time, with a glorious boundary down the ground to take England to 400.

From 64 overs. What a mad day.

    Now back to Rauf.

Pope and Brook both start with singles but Rauf over-pitches and it runs away to the long-off rope, bringing Pope into the nineties.

It really has been England's day.

Over to Ffion to take you through the rest. Enjoy!

The amazing thing is that it hasn't really been a rampage, or any slogging. These two have added a 100 partnership in 15 overs but they've played proper cricket shots for the vast majority of it.

  9. Eng 386-3published at 62 overs

Slight improvement in this over for Pakistan as Salman bowls two dot balls but Pope manages to get a reverse sweep through short third.

    Still no wicket though.

Naseem is still looking for his first wicket but his first ball is over-pitched and Pope elegantly clips it through mid-wicket whilst leaning into the stoke and it goes to the boundary. Beautiful.

Brook also gets his four. The ball is pitched down the leg side and England's total continues to grow.

It has been quite remarkable batting. Zak Crawley left the first ball of the day outside off stump but then that was it - he was off!

Not surprised the batters got off their sick beds to play on this.

The adhan - the Islamic call to prayer - is playing in the background.

England are easing along with singles making it hard for Pakistan to get a breakthrough.

    Surely something will change?

Ollie Pope is going to be a tired man after this game. If he goes on to get a big score here, he then has to keep wicket as Ben Foakes has been taken down by the virus.

Naseem Shah is still looking for his wicket ... doesn't seem like it's his day.

Some precious dot balls in this over but Pakistan need a bit more than that.

You need your spinner to give you control, especially on a pitch as flat as this. As a captain you want consistency and for your spinner to just hold up an end.

But Mahmood hasn't given that at all, but part of that is because England's batters have refused to let him settle.
