  1. Eng 362-3published at 58 overs

Zahid bowls to Brook and this time he finds the boundary much quicker through the back-of-a-length delivery.

    The boundaries keep coming.

Pope hits backward point again and finds the ropes.

Pakistan need a wicket... and quickly.

It's unconventional from Pope, but we know that this England team don't mind that at all.

  3. Eng 350-3published at 57 overs

Naseem Shah bowls to Brook and after three singles, Pope manages to find the boundary with a clip through mid-wicket.

And that brings up 350 for England.

There was never any doubt really.

Knew the Lions warm-up match was pointless. What did England gain by racking up 501 in 79 overs?

Ollie Pope has played so nicely, he's put the spinners under a lot of pressure by playing those reverse sweeps - he played two from his first few balls.

It's so hard to bowl at because you're trying to defend all parts of the ground.

  6. Eng 341-3published at 56 overs

I guess that tea break helped England more than Pakistan.

Zahid bowls to Pope and it's swept through mid-wicket which brings up another 50 partnership, this time between Pope and Brook.

There's still not much turn in the wicket and England are using this to their full advantage with reverse sweeps.

    And we're back!

Naseem Shah begins the bowling with two dot balls.

But keeping with England's incredible performance, Pope brings up his half-century with a bottom-handed flick through wide long-on.

It was nice to see Shaheen Afridi, right, at the ground earlier. The Pakistan fast bowler is out of the series after having a recent operation. Good to see he's on the mend.

On the other side of the world in Perth, West Indies trail Australia's score of 598 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

Labuschagne and Smith both scored an impressive double centuries respectively.

Head was one short of making his century.

What a day of cricket it's been so far!

  13. Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Awardpublished at 09:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2022
    Breaking

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the BBC have announced that that there will be public nominations for the Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Award for the first time in its history.

The CMJ Spirit of Cricket Award was created in 2013 by MCC and the BBC in memory of former MCC President and BBC Test Match Special commentator Christopher Martin-Jenkins (“CMJ”), who was passionate about promoting the spirit of the game.

The first recipient of the award was Derbyshire’s Wayne Madsen and subsequent winners have included Luke Wright, Brendon McCullum, former Worcestershire batter Tom Fell and England fast bowler Anya Shrubsole.

The previous winners have been nominated by those within the two organisations but for this year, both MCC and BBC are inviting nominations from anyone involved in cricket, at any level of the game.

The award could be given for the reaction shown by a player in a moment of high tension, or the way they interact with their opponent at the end of play. It could be a moment from the international arena, or at the lowest level of recreational level. The only stipulation is that it must have taken place in 2022.

Nominations for the award are now open via the link here, external and will remain open until midnight (GMT) on 31 December.

    Thank you Matthew

Well, that was all very interesting.

Pakistan are slowly crawling back but England have pretty much made their mark already.

The Pakistan bowlers are getting used to the wicket. Perhaps this tea break will help.

There is an element of inflation. You can't expect to go at two runs per over, the outfield is so quick and the wicket so true.

Even so it is a remarkable rate of scoring.

    Another extraordinary session.

And breathe. 13 runs come from that over and we can thankfully all now have a lie down.

Three wickets come in the session but England have also added 158 runs.

    Sensational fun.

It looks like we're going to squeeze in one more over after Shakeel's opener costs six runs, four of them coming courtesy of a lovely flick from Brook.
