  1. 6 runs

    Pak 517-7published at 139 overs

Ben Stoke is as busy as ever, directing his players in the field like a traffic warden.

They offer the single to Agha Salman again but he instead goes big, lofting a straight drive back over Jack Leach's head for six.

He then drives the ball through mid-wicket for four - though he looks almost apologetic as that means Zahid Mahmood will be on strike next over.

  2. Pak 507-7published at 138.1 overs

First real shot in anger of the day as Agha Salman sweeps Jack Leach through the on-side for four.

But was there a bit of grip in the surface there? Ollie Pope certainly liked what he saw judging by his vocal reaction behind the stumps.

    Early encouragement for England.

  3. Pak 503-7published at 138 overs

England offer Agha Salman the single, they are keen to bowl to Zahid Mahmood as much as possible.

Salman obliges with the fourth ball of the over and the England field comes right in to surround Mahmood. He clips the ball towards fine leg, but Salman declines the run.

England's grizzled veteran James Anderson will run in at the other end first up.

  5. Pak 502-7published at 137 overs

Agha Salman clips the ball towards mid-wicket and Pakistan run two to bring up the 500. Zahid Mahmood responds with a single to get off the mark.

Ben Stokes brings in four fielders around the bat, with plenty of oohs and ahhs after each delivery.

Expect plenty of that this morning.

Jack Leach will bowl the first ball of the day.

  8. All eyes on the prizepublished at 04:42 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

The England team have been out looking closely at the surface this morning, but I'm not sure there is much there to get excited about.

Michael Atherton on his pitch report for TV said the surface looked the same as it did on day one.

England said they had to "think outside the box" to try and snare wickets yesterday and I think that approach will continue.

    "What do you think, Baz?"

"We should be able to get 200 in a session on this."

  10. The state of playpublished at 04:34 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

Babar Azam's classy century was the highlight of day three as bat once against dominated ball on a flat, lifeless pitch.

But after he departed for 136, Mohammed Rizwan and Naseem Shah soon followed to leave Pakistan 499-7 at the close, still 158 behind.

England will go hunting for those final three wickets this morning before seeking to pile on the runs as quickly as possible to set a defendable total.

  11. Good morningpublished at 04:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

It was a long old slog in the field for England on day three, but their perseverance was rewarded with some late wickets that just gives them a sniff of victory.

    A crucial first session awaits...
