Drilled through the covers by Nawaz! Four runs, very useful for Pakistan with the new ball just around the corner.

Pakistan won't be worried about scoring too quickly.

  3. Pak 239-5published at 79 overs

    Target 355

Just one from that Wood over and a more threatening one from him after the ball change.

If it is just the hardness of it making more happen then the next might be the last over with it before England take an even harder new ball.

Possibly, Chris. The fact this ball is now offering them just a little bit more that might be delayed, though. It would also require Stokes to bowl himself, which he hasn't done yet in the match.

No word yet on whether that is tactical or due to a niggle of some sort - with Stokes it's almost always his knee.

Surely this is set up for captain fantastic to take the new ball and skittle the tail??!!

That was a bit of a stinger, I think it's hit him on the glove or arm.

  7. Pak 238-5published at 78.3 overs

    Target 355

There is definitely a bit more hardness to this 'new' old ball and Wood is able to hit Shakeel on the gloves a couple of times early in the over.

Might that encourage England to stick with it for a touch longer?

That is one of those that comes out of the rough and you cannot believe it hasn't clipped the stumps.

  9. Pak 238-5published at 78 overs

So close! Saud Shakeel on the sweep, there is a little bit of turn and the ball comes off a combination of arm and glove, just over the top of leg stump and away for four.

Runs given. no chance for Pope but if Crawley had been at leg slip rather than leg gully, he might have been in business.

Ah, scrap that. It wouldn't have been out anyway. UltraEdge shows there was nothing on it, bonus runs for Shakeel then.

The second new ball isn't far away but we're going to get a 'new' old ball for the next three overs, at least. The other one must have been out of shape.

Jack Leach will get first use of it. Will it do anything more for England?

I've seen every kind of defensive shot from Saud Shakeel.

Pakistan are ticking along nicely now. It's just like the last game now where it's all about the mind games and the mental battle.

  14. Pak 232-5published at 77 overs

    Target 355

A slip has now been contemplated. More than that, one is actually brought in for Nawaz, although he disappears the moment Shakeel comes back on strike.

Three overs until the second new ball is available. Given how little this old ball is doing, you'd imagine England won't delay in taking it.

It's strange to see no contemplation of a slip for the fastest bowler in the game.

  16. Pak 231-5published at 76.1 overs

    Target 355

Wood continues and his first ball to Nawaz stays very low. Just kept out by the left-hander.

It was a perfectly respectable delivery but Nawaz found a way to get it away. It does show intent.

  18. Pak 231-5published at 76 overs

    Target 355

The over ends with another sweep from Nawaz, much more delicate this time and is goes away fine behind square for three.

Root thought he'd snuck it through for a moment but Nawaz watched it all the way onto the bat. Good over for Pakistan.

Terrific shot from Nawaz, he got down on one knee and smashed that all along the ground.

  20. Pak 228-5published at 75.4 overs

Mohammad Nawaz on the sweep as Root sends down a flighted delivery, and it is nailed in front of square. Four runs. A lovely shot.
