  1. 50 runs

50 for Tom Blundellpublished at 58.1 overs

    Tom Blundell has played nicely.

He reaches his fifty from 96 deliveries.

  2. NZ 194-7published at 58 overs

Kuggelijn attacks again, this time biffing Leach down the ground.

Is there just a hint of Bazball catching on?

  3. 6 runs

    NZ 190-7published at 57.3 overs

    Big!

Scott Kuggelijn's first boundary in Test cricket is a six onto the grass bank.

It is caught in the crowd too.

  4. NZ 184-7published at 57 overs

What's the youngest anyone has ever been to a cricket match? 12 weeks is a good effort but beatable.

At the Bay Oval with my 12 week old daughter. Half Kiwi, half British - trying to make sure she supports the right side!

Harry (and Alexandra, who's riveted by Bazball)

  7. wicket

    Bracewell c Stokes b Leach 7 (NZ 182-7)

Go and sit in a dark room, Michael. You've had a shocker.

New Zealand's off-spinning all-rounder has just whacked the ball straight to Ben Stokes at mid-on off Jack Leach as if he was offering catching practice.

Did you all take a look at the Future Tours Programme before planning your children?

    Quite sensible if so.

Also up with a newborn, 5 days old and already a cricket fan.

Tom with a very tired baby Jareth.

The players are taking an early drinks break with physio still going through his concussion test.

  11. ouch!

    NZ 182-6published at 55 overs

    Blundell 48, Bracewell 7

Ben Stokes hits Michael Bracewell flush on the badge! He's ducked right into it in fairness.

It looks like the helmet has done it's job. On comes New Zealand's bald physio with his very large red kit bag.

Is everyone here also a newborn? Must be a high percentage of us up with the cricket (and loving it) at this hour.

Max aged 18 hours (and a very tired Rory & Lucy)

  13. NZ 178-6published at 54 overs

New Zealand are insistent on keeping us all watching. Tom Blundell now attempts a drive down the ground, only narrowly evading the fielder.

There's a coffee stand selling a Strawberry Latte as a 'pink ball special'. I'm not convinced.

  15. NZ 173-6published at 53 overs

    Blundell 41, Bracewell 6

That wicket took Ben Stokes to 194 in Tests, one clear of the great Jim Laker. His next will draw him level with former team-mate Moeen Ali.

The TV team have just shown a pitch map of this Stokes spell. Every single ball, yes every one, has been in the short category.

Trying not to celebrate that wicket with a 2 day old finally asleep on shoulder.

  17. NZ 167-6published at 52 overs

Devon Conway missed a T20 World Cup final because he broke his hand punching his bat. I'm surprised he didn't have another swing there.

Oh! Almost another crazy dismissal. Michael Bracewell gets off the mark by skewing a drive in the air, inches out of the reach of a diving fielder at mid-on.

It's remarkable how often that plan works in Test cricket. Stokes yesterday, Conway today.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 51 overs

    Conway c Pope b Stokes 77 (NZ 158-6)

Would you believe it?! Devon Conway has fallen right into the trap.

It looked like the over was done but Ben Stokes had overstepped on what should have been the final ball. The extra delivery is another bouncer and Conway just spoons the ball straight to square leg.

That's a horrible way to get out.

  20. NZ 157-5published at 50.5 overs

Devon Conway is insistent on hitting all of these Stokes bouncers rather than letting them go. In this over he copes with them all comfortably, hitting the ball down into the ground.
