Ollie Robinson wasn't particularly complimentary about the pink ball ahead of this match but that hasn't stopped him bowling superbly with it.

Just two from his latest over and he's got figures of 2-23 from his first 11 overs.

  2. 6 runs

    NZ 120-5published at 38 overs

    Trail by 205

After growing frustrated by how long that run out check took, the home fans have something to cheer as Conway hits Root back over his head for six.

Lovely, clean strike of the ball and I think any thoughts of a follow-on can be forgotten now. That's been the case for a while, really.

  3. Not outpublished at 37.2 overs

    NZ 112-5

It took a while but we've got there eventually. UltraEdge shows nothing so it's not out. I think Root and England knew that but the umpires wanted to be sure.

We're waiting for UltraEdge now on a run out. How exciting.

  5. Umpire reviewpublished at 37.2 overs

Have England burgled one here? Conway smashed the ball back at Root, dead straight and into the stumps at the other end.

Did it flick Root's boot? If it did then Blundell is in trouble. The general reaction suggests it didn't but we'll see...

  6. NZ 112-5published at 37 overs

Quick change of ends and Robinson is back into the attack with a very good, probing over to Blundell.

Another maiden concludes with a delivery that nips back and bounces a touch more than the batter expected.

  7. NZ 112-5published at 36 overs

A maiden over to start from Root and it's a good over.

The introduction of a part-timer perhaps sees Conway's concentration levels drop a touch and after playing and missing once, he chips the ball into the covers, just wide of the fielder in catching.

    Encouraging for England.

More spin now, Joe Root is going to have a twirl.

  9. NZ 112-5published at 35 overs

Leach is too short to Blundell a couple of times in the over and is punished with a boundary thumped through point.

New Zealand have to target one of the England bowlers and with the seamers keeping it tight, even with little assistance from ball or surface, it looks like Leach is the man.

  10. NZ 106-5published at 34 overs

    Trail by 219

Robinson tries Conway out with a short ball and the batter is happy to take it on. A controlled pull shot for one.

Blundell clips a single to fine leg to complete the scoring from the over.

  12. NZ 104-5published at 33 overs

Leach works his way though a steady over, just the one from it after an expensive one following the drinks break.

Nothing much doing for the England bowlers, seam or spin, at the moment. If New Zealand are to fight back in this match, now is the time...

The runs that took Conway to his half-century also got New Zealand to three figures.

This partnership is going to be crucial to just how close they can get to England's total - or, indeed, if they can surpass it.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Devon Conwaypublished at 31.3 overs

    NZ 101-5

Devon Conway goes through to his sixth Test fifty, to go with four tons.

He got a life last evening and he has made it count, batting fluently so far today.

New Zealand need him to keep going if they want to get back into this match.

  17. NZ 98-5published at 31 overs

    Conway 49, Blundell 4

Very good over for New Zealand as they get stuck in Jack Leach after drinks.

Conway drives beautifully through the covers for four and the repeats the shot with slightly lesser timing to get three.

Blundell then gets off the mark with a expertly played late cut for four.

There must be something in Ollie Robinson's action that batters don't pick up properly. It was a good bit of bowling.
