New Zealand bowler Neil Wagner after his match-winning wicket, speaking to BT Sport: "It's a special one this, we'll celebrate it well. It's an amazing achievement and everybody contributed.

"Hats off to everyone. It's something to be incredibly proud of and yeah, keep going.

"It's the characteristics of this team. We keep looking to fight for each other and find a way, doing the hard yards out there.

"Credit where credit is due, I thought England played pretty well in there first innings in tough conditions and we just found a way.

"To finally get some reward was pleasing."

New Zealand's Tom Blundell, who took the winning catch: "I saw it pretty well and luckily it went in clean. I thought we'd lost it at one point but we fight to the bitter end."

New Zealand are just the fourth team ever to win a Test match after being asked to follow-on. But that does not tell half the story. It was a quite sensational match that went the very distance.

James Anderson looks crestfallen after his dismissal, as does Ben Foakes who got his team so close. But they can be proud of their performance and the role they played in a Test match for the ages.

    David Gower
    Ex-England captain on BT Sport

It does not get any closer than that. My first reaction is to applaud all 22 players, what a Test match they have provided for us.

That was just the most brilliant five days you will see for a long, long time.

    Anderson c Blundell b Wagner 4 (Eng 256)

NEIL WAGNER HAS DONE IT FOR NEW ZEALAND!

It is a leg-side delivery, the thinnest of edges off James Anderson's bat and a fine diving catch from Tom Blundell behind the stumps.

Wagner punches the air in delight, he has sealed victory in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Oof, that is an absolute brute of a delivery from Neil Wagner that spits up to James Anderson and the No.11 does brilliantly to fend it off.

Jack Leach pulls, top-edges...but it lands safe and England run one!

Leach had no idea where that ball went, but it is enough to get himself off the mark.

England need seven runs to win

Ha, Jack Leach steps away and attempts to leather Neil Wagner into the Tasman Sea, but he gets nothing on it and the ball goes through to the wicketkeeper.

This is going to be fun whatever happens.

    Oh my word!

Ben Foakes has dragged England to within touching distance of victory but he has to go! It is another well-directed short ball from Tim Southee that lures Foakes into the pull, but he can only top-edge to, who else, but Neil Wagner on the rope.
