Matt (00:49) needs to be careful. 15 years ago my eldest (then 6 months old) nearly got dropped off the sofa during a night feed as Ryan Sidebottom took a hat-trick. I still believe to this day he's the youngest England fan ever to see a treble.

There's a brief flurry of excitement as Joe Root is hit on the knee roll deep his his crease by Michael Bracewell, but the ball pitched outside the line so the appeals are quickly halted.

We have had no real fireworks this afternoon session yet all of a sudden the victory target is now down to 61.

Every so often this pitch sparks into life.

Ben Stokes steps across to manoeuvre himself into position for an attacking shot off Matt Henry, but the ball leaps off the surface and forces him to hastily switch to a defensive block.

  6. Eng 195-5published at 51 overs

Michael Bracewell seems content to let Joe Root run a single off his first ball as it means he can have another go at the left-handed Ben Stokes, who looks really uncomfortable whenever he has to twist his left knee.

But in true Stokes style he is still able to swat away a short delivery from Bracewell away to the rope.

    The man is a machine.

Matt Henry is showing no ill-effects from that back injury picked up before lunch. He has bowled superbly since the resumption, including one delivery on a teasing length that fizzes just past the inside edge of Ben Stokes' bat.

Not a bad name to overtake, but I'm sure that is far from Joe Root's mind at the moment. He has a Test match to win.

That edge that flew through vacant second slip two overs ago will continue to irk New Zealand as long as the Yorkshireman is out there. He has not offered many chances this innings.

    Here we go Joe!

Joe Root has targeted Michael Bracewell all innings and he does so again, smashing the ball over long-on for another huge six.

New Zealand can count themselves really unlucky there - remove one of Stokes or Root now and it is game on.

Instead, England's victory target is down to 76.

Head in hands time for New Zealand!

Matt Henry snares the edge of Joe Root's bat but the ball goes where second slip would be stood and flies away for four.

Three balls later Henry finds the edge of Stokes' bat but a diving Daryl Mitchell can only get his fingertips to the ball as he leaps into the air and the ball once again runs away to the rope.

Two huge moments in this Test match.

Congratulations on the new arrival, Matt!

There was no cricket on when my daughter was born 16 months ago so instead I binge-watched Squid Game while doing the night feeds.

It wasn't the best thing to watch while sleep deprived to be honest.

Back with the cricket, Michael Bracewell looks to tempt Ben Stokes outside his off stump - but the skipper is happy to let the ball go harmlessly through to the wicketkeeper.

There's loads of brilliant things about becoming a parent. But getting brownie points from the missus for offering to do the night feeds, and spending time with your newborn watching engrossing Test cricket is definitely near the top.

Good news for New Zealand - Matt Henry is fit enough to bowl again after his back trouble in the morning session.

He bowls a maiden first up too.

An early wicket here and things will really get interesting.

  17. Eng 173-5published at 45 overs

Not sure Ben Stokes will appreciate that from Joe Root as he dabs the ball into the off side before pushing for a quick single. Doesn't he know his skipper has a dodgy knee?

Bracewell's final ball is too straight and Stokes sweeps away for four, though he does not look comfortable at all.

Stokes is a warrior but let's hope this is not something too serious.

Here come the players back out to the middle.

Ben Stokes still looks a little uncomfortable, but then again doesn't he always?

Michael Bracewell will open the afternoon session.

Definitely Stokes' knee is an issue. I don't know exactly what the problem is but he's had it for a while.

We can see how much physical pain he seems to be in.

He also set his stall out early, very defensive after the carnage of the first hour.

It's almost Headingley and World Cup final-esque. 'If I'm here at the end, we win.'

Matt Henry has been warming up on the outfield during the lunch break. He was forced off the field after picking up a back problem during the morning session, but did return to the field before the break.

I'm being Captain Obvious here but it would be a big boost for New Zealand if he can bowl during the afternoon session.
