The series might be lost for England but it certainly isn't over since we've got the final game coming up on Wednesday.

South Africa, on the back of Bavuma's hundred, might have kept their hopes of direct qualification to the World Cup alive but England have a chance to play spoil-sport and avoid a series clean sweep in the third and final game.

South Africa captain, and player of the match for his 109, Temba Bavuma: "It is very special. Playing against England is always a tough ask. Your disciplines are always being tested and it is a good opportunity for us to test our way of playing. Chasing 340 like that will give us a lot of confidence. It was a good day and a good outing for us.

"It was very enjoyable. These wickets are actually quite nice and suit the way we want to play. I've reminded myself how to get to a hundred too and I hope I can build on it."

"David [Miller] and Marco [Jansen] were there so it wasn't that tense. Marco struggled to get it away but the guys were pretty calm. It would have been something miraculous for us to lose that game.

"We spoke about trying to dominate the first 10 overs. We were there. We didn't get the wickets we wanted but we were there. They upped their intensity but the guys kept at it. We probably weren't quite at our best at the end. With the bat, we took the situation out if t and we were able to exploit the good conditions. It is a good win for us."

England captain Jos Buttler: "South Africa bowled really well early on, so to come back and post 340 was a fantastic effort from the guys.

"It was a terrific game and a great chase.

"I thought it was a good score at the halfway stage, and having seen the game the other night, the wicket got tougher, but South Africa chased it really well.

"Harry Brook has been performing in Test cricket and T20 and we know what a talent he is and what a career he will have."

Earlier, England batted quite well themselves after being asked to bat first. After a rocky start, having lost both openers inside the first powerplay, Brook led England's revival with an eye-catching 80 before skipper Buttler took over the reigns.

Buttler and Moeen Ali shared an innings-defining century partnership and a power-packed fifty from Moeen meant that England scored at decent pace throughout. Buttler, who was there right till the end, ensured England finished strongly to post 342-7.

But as we saw, it wasn't quite enough to edge ahead today.

Temba Bavuma and company have made a resounding statement today. Chasing down 342 is no simple task mind you. It was Bavuma himself who led his team's efforts with the bat in hand.

The openers set the tone with a flying start and Bavuma, who looked in full flow, carried on to score his third ODI hundred. Valuable contributions from Van der Dussen, Markram and Klaasen meant that South Africa were never really behind in the game and it was all set up for Miller to take them over the line.

A slower ball, in the slot, from Chris Woakes and David Miller slaps it over long-off for six. He finishes unbeaten on 58 and he's led his side to a five-wicket victory and an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

That is South Africa's third-highest chase in ODI cricket.

They seem very intent on making sure they have every chance of qualifying directly for the World Cup later this year. They came into the series needing three wins from five games (three against England and two against Netherlands) to stay in contention, with five guaranteeing a place.

An impressive win defending a couple of days ago and an impressive win chasing today, lot of boxes ticked for the Proteas.

Oh dear, it's gone for four. It's a length delivery on off stump and Jansen manages to slap it over mid-off for four.

And a dot. Sam Curran, have you got one more dot ball to offer? A wicket would be even better.

Two more, Jansen clips a full one into the gap at deep mid-wicket and there's nothing the poor fielder can do to keep it down to one.

Jansen heaves one back past Curran and they scurry through for two. Closer and closer we get.

It is getting very tight folks! South Africa got pretty lucky there. First the dropped catch and then a streaky three runs down to fine-leg off an inside edge for Jansen.

All of a sudden, scoring seems to be difficult. Pressure can do strange things. Very strange things.

Oh what bearing will this have on the result? It'll go down as a drop but it was a very tough chance for Moeen Ali at short cover.

Miller punched it firmly but it was in the air, it went very quickly to Moeen's left and he just about got his fingertips after diving full-length to his left.

Miller's played very nicely today and he brings up a well deserved fifty. South Africa will want him to stay out there till the very end though.

It isn't over quite yet like I mentioned. Curran's produced another gem of an over. Just five runs come off it and South Africa, Jansen in particular, will be feeling some pressure because he's faced a lot of dots.

If only England can get Miller out here...

Hold onto your horses Jonathan, it's not quite over... yet

Jonathan France: Embarrassing that we can’t defend 340+ even in these conditions. Too many boundary balls in the powerplay & not enough potency up top. How can we plan for a World Cup when we never play our best XI?

Stone starts with three dots and a superb diving stop from Rashid at short mid-wicket saves a certain boundary. Stone follows that up with another ripper that Jansen misses and the last ball only goes for one.

Top class over, it keeps England in the hunt just a bit longer.

It's all gone wrong for Topley. He'd bowled the first five quite well, conceded just from those but he made a costly mistake thereafter. Waist-high full toss followed by another full toss for the free hit that Miller smoked for six straight back down the ground.

The pressure is back on England. Miller is batting fluently and Jansen has just shown us that he can play the big shots too.
