It was the power hitting of the England batters though that set teed up this fine victory.

It was a thumping England win but I couldn't not drop this in. A stunning catch from Chinelle Henry off her own bowling to dismiss Sophia Dunkley.

  4. 'We want to be aggressive and take the game on'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

Nat Sciver-Brunt, who was named player of the match: "It was a bit tricky to start with, the pitch was a bit two-paced. But I was boundary focused and happy to see the team home.

"We want to be aggressive and take the game on and walk towards the danger. The more we do that under pressure the better.

"We are adapting to the wickets really well. We are having fun out here and hopefully we can keep that going."

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Very, very good from England. They were dominant with bat. That is how you start a World Cup. They were a little nervous ball but with bat have shown that fearless, entertaining brand of cricket. If this is going to be how they play it will be good to watch.

There's plenty of smiles and high fives on the England balcony. Jon Lewis looks a satisfied man as he makes his way onto the outfield to shake hands with the West Indies team.

England sealed victory with 33 balls to spare. That is a thumping win.

That is how to win a match!

Heather Knight has smashed Chinelle Henry for six to seal a thumping victory for England, who get their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start.

  8. Eng 132-3published at 14.1 overs

We have just seen a shot of the Australia players in the stands - they take on New Zealand later. I'm sure they are watching England's performance with interest.

A wide and a single nudges England closer to victory.

Winning so comfortably does give England insurance on net run-rate if they do happen to lose a game and end up in a tie in this group.

    Target 136

Given the fireworks we have witnessed so far this innings, four singles and a wide feels pedestrian.

England are just one big hit away now.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is so good. She is so strong off the back foot.

Runs have come at an incredible rate.

If there is a gap in the field, Nat Sciver-Brunt will find it.

She pulls Zaida James away backward of square and the ball perfectly dissects the in-field before flying for four. The next ball she dispatches it through deep mid-wicket.

England are putting on a clinic here.

  14. Eng 116-3published at 12 overs

    Target 136

There is definitely a this-is-over-as-a-contest feel about this match now, but that is down to the unerring positivity and aggression of the England batters.

Speaking of positivity and aggression, Nat Sciver-Brunt latches onto a horribly short delivery from Afy Fletcher and hammers the ball away for four.

    20 needed from 48.

England are unperturbed by that delay for the run out check, cracking Hayley Matthews away for three more fours.

Matthews 0-31 from two overs. England are closing in on an emphatic win.

Heather Knight is not known for her speed between the wickets.

  19. Umpire reviewpublished at 10.1 overs

Is Heather Knight in trouble here? Judging by the reaction of the West Indies fielders, no, but you never know. It was a fine piece of fielding and direct hit as England went for the single.

    The umpire sends it upstairs.

We wondered how England would play under Jon Lewis and the aggressive top three didn't hang about.

95 off 10 overs. What total could they have set batting first?
