England may not have been expecting this. They had such a dominant series against them before Christmas. But West Indies in World Cups seem to be a totally different team.

They are still reliant Hayley Matthews though. When she fires the rest gather around her.

    Matthews 40, Campbelle 11

At least we know where Alex gets it from...

Sarah Glenn bowls another tidy over, not conceding a boundary, but West Indies are still going at seven runs per over.

My grandma did that once and knocked herself out.

I went to take a photo of the ground but didn't realise the window was closed and punched the glass.

It's up near 39 degrees in Paarl today but still West Indies steal singles and twos in this over. For me it looks a day for watching in the shade not running between the wickets in pads, gloves and a helmet.

    From one Sciver-Brunt to another.

    Here's Nat...

  8. WI 51-1published at 7 overs

    Matthews 37, Campbelle 4

Well Shemaine Campbelle looks likely she's been watching Hayley Matthews and likes what she has seen. The right-hander sweeps her first boundary from her third ball.

Still, that's a good start from Glenn after the early Matthews onslaught...

Shemaine Campbelle is West Indies number three...

That is a stinking review and a not much better shot.

    Plumb.

Stafanie Taylor had struggled throughout that comeback innings, making only three from 15 balls. She departs in pretty miserable fashion.

    Sarah Glenn strikes!

Stafanie Taylor is given lbw going back to a ball from the leggie.

She reviews but I think even Taylor knows this is out.

England are not in a spot of bother but they will be feeling a little wary here as West Indies have got off to an absolute flyer.

  15. WI 47-0published at 6 overs

    Matthews 37, Taylor 3

Four more to end the powerplay!

Hayley Matthews has 37 from 23 balls. West Indies emphatically win the powerplay.

Hayley Matthews is playing some knock here.

  17. WI 43-0published at 5.3 overs

Katherine Sciver-Brunt is brought back in an attempt to stop this torrent of runs but she is punished too!

This is sensational from Hayley Matthews. Back-to-back boundaries from the West Indies skipper.

    Georgia Elwiss
England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

It has been quite untidy in the powerplay from England. Seven extras already.

Sophie Ecclestone bowls a wide and then next ball is clubbed for four.

    Not the best start.

  19. WI 34-0published at 5 overs

    Matthews 25, Taylor 2

Another wide, this time from Ecclestone, comes before Matthews finds the boundary yet again. It was overpitched by England's number one spinner but still needed putting away.

The pressure is just on Heather Knight's side a little.

It is a little bit like watching Graham Gooch at one and and Monty Panesar at the other.

Stafanie Taylor is one of the greats of the game but is just not at the races at the moment.
