Incredible conviction in the appeal from Taskin as Bangladesh go up for a caught behind off Malan.

The umpire isn't interested and as soon as the skipper asks Taskin if it's worth a review, he decides maybe it wasn't such an obvious nick after all.

    Maiden.

  2. Eng 7-1published at 3 overs

Very tidy start from Bangladesh, just two from Shakib's second over.

210 looks a bit further away than it did at the end of the hosts' innings.

Dawid Malan is off the mark but that is a risky single. The left-hander pushes Shakib to mid-on and calls for the run.

The throw is off target and Malan might just have made it anyway but that was very tight.

  4. Eng 5-1published at 2 overs

The bounce we saw for the England seamers is in evidence once again as Taskin beats Salt with a ball that rears up from that channel outside off.

After five dot balls, Salt goes at the last and skews a thick outside edge down to deep third for a single.

Taskin Ahmed will bowl the first over from the other end, Phil Salt is on strike with Dawid Malan in at number three for England.

A bit of early pressure on the tourists in this chase.

Four and out for Jason Roy!

The England opener shimmies down the track, tries to clip the ball over the leg side but gets a leading edge and the ball loops up.

Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal gets underneath it at mid-off and Shakib Al Hasan strikes in his first over.

  7. Eng 4-0published at 0.4 overs

    Target 210

England are away! Having nearly chipped the first ball of the innings back to Shakib, Jason Roy is off the mark with a lovely late cut for four.

The players are back out in Mirpur.

England need 210 to take a 1-0 lead in their three-match series.

Bangladesh are starting with spin, Shakib Al Hasan is set to bowl the first over.

Of course, England are missing some players who you would expect will be part of their XI come the World Cup with Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone all absent.

Fitting them all into the side already seems tricky.

Despite that, there is still a pretty formidable batting line-up ready to take on this chase with Jason Roy - the pressure on him eased after an impressive ton in South Africa - and Phil Salt preparing to get things started.

  10. England's bowling figurespublished at 10:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2023

England bowled brilliantly as a team with all their bowlers taking wickets. Mark Wood excelled with his pace while Rashid deserved at least another two scalps with the turn he saw today.

Chris Woakes: 1-38 from eight overs

Jofra Archer: 2-37 from 10 overs

Mark Wood: 2-34 from eight overs

Moeen Ali: 2-35 from 7.2 overs

Adil Rashid: 2-47 from nine overs

Will Jacks: 1-18 from five overs

    Thanks, Joe.

England have got to be pretty pleased with that showing in the field and contributions from all the bowlers.

It won't be a straightforward chase, though. We saw the turn Adil Rashid, in particular, was getting and Bangladesh have got three very useful spinners of their own.

The hosts were skittled for 109 after choosing to bat first in Indore with left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann taking 5-16 for the Aussies.

Travis Head fell early in Australia's reply but that is the only wicket to fall in the innings with Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne taking the visitors to 108-1

You're sat here looking at the score and watching how it transpired it felt like England made light work of that, but when you take into account the par score of 217, and the bounce and spin, it could end up being a tricky total for England.
