Close but Malan survives. It's hit him in line but the turn means it is only just clipping leg.

    Bangladesh keep the review though.

Is it six and out for Malan?

Bangladesh think so as a turning delivery strikes him on the pad. Reviewed.

It's not out on the field.

Malan might start more slowly than a lot of England's batters but if it's there to hit, he'll hit it!

Tossed up by Taijul and into Malan's arc for a slog-sweep - into the stands for six!

  4. Eng 50-3published at 14 overs

Three from Mehidy's over as Malan gets a quick single from the last ball.

That brings up the 50 for England which is something. Nearly a quarter of the way there...

Buttler gets off the mark with a delicate lap-sweep for one before Malan flicks a single of his own.

There is a long way to go in this match but England are right up against it.

Bangladesh celebrate the wicket of James VinceImage source, Reuters

England are in trouble! With Mehidy looking so tough to get away, Vince tries to go after Taijul again.

He's down the track, misses with a big shot and Mushfiqur does the rest behind the stumps.

Here comes Jos Buttler. If ever there's a man for a crisis...

  7. Eng 45-2published at 12 overs

    Target 210

Maiden over from Mehidy. The off-spinner looks a real threat.

Nine overs of spin down, just a potential 21 more for England to deal with.

  8. Eng 45-2published at 11 overs

    Target 210

An over that shows both sides of this chase. England scored seven from it, comfortably more than they need with Vince playing a lovely shot.

However, the right-hander also had to jam his bat down to keep out a delivery that stays very low. There's some turn as well. Tricky.

That is a gorgeous shot from James Vince. He skips down to Taijul and hits inside-out over extra cover for four.

Malan is tied down for five balls by Mehidy before getting the last one through to the sweeper on the off side. Just a single.

The powerplay belongs to Bangladesh but, chasing a modest target, there is no need for England to panic.

  11. Postpublished at 10:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2023

Last over of the powerplay coming up but England aren't in much of a position to really try and take advantage of it.

  12. Eng 37-2published at 9 overs

Two just singles and the wicket from an impressive Taijul over.

Very good comeback after being taken for 11 in his first.

    Salt b Taijul 12 (Eng 35-2)

England's Phil Salt is bowled out by Taijul IslamImage source, Reuters

Bowled 'im - and England are wobbling.

Slightly quicker delivery from Taijul Islam and the ball skids through. It was missing leg before the ball flicks off Phil Salt's pad and thudded into leg stump.

Pressure on England as James Vince walks to the crease.

  14. Eng 35-1published at 8 overs

    Dawid MalanImage source, Getty Images

Mehidy Hasan is into the attack and Malan cuts the off-spinner's first delivery away for four. Nicely played.

The bowler comes back well and entices Malan to drive at the next ball and the England man chips it just short of cover.

As for Jason Roy, you'd imagine he's got the rest of this series to show he is still the man for the World Cup.

The problem for England is that if they decide he isn't, they don't have much time to try out a replacement.

Mark Burt: That ton in SA aside, Roy hasn’t looked convincing for a long time now. The tentative, poorly conceived and executed nature of that dismissal sums up his game now. Time to move on and give new blood a chance.

  16. Eng 29-1published at 7 overs

Good over for England, 11 from it and just like that the away side are going along at the required rate.

It shows that scoring the runs in 50 overs won't be much of a problem - they just need to avoid losing wickets.

  17. 6 runs

    Eng 24-1published at 6.2 overs

    Target 210

Beautiful shot! Taijul Islam comes into the attack and Dawid Malan has a look at one then charges the next!

The England left-hander hits high and handsome back down the ground to clear the rope by a long way.

Jonathan France: Roy needs to come to terms with the fact that teams in the WC will open up with spin. He either needs to improve or step aside for someone else

  19. Eng 18-1published at 6 overs

Salt muscles Taskin between mid-on and mid-wicket with very little in the way of timing.

However, the outfield is such that what initially looked like a single becomes a boundary as the ball just keeps going. Useful for England.

  20. Eng 13-1published at 5 overs

    Target 210

Better from Malan and Salt, working the singles off Shakib rather than trying to send every ball to the boundary.

Salt nearly gets the ball to the fence with a strong drive but it is half stopped at cover and he has to settle for two.
