  1. Ban 38-3published at 9 overs

    Target 327

Outstanding work from Phil Salt to flick the ball back with his fingertips, while in mid-air to deny Shakib a boundary from a free hit. Two runs saved.

Six from Curran's over. Bangladesh are trying to up the ante a little and they have to, the required rate is already over seven-an-over.

  2. Ban 32-3published at 8 overs

Saqib Mahmood's bowling: 4% full, 63% good length and 33% short. 4 overs, 0 maidens, went for 18 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 4.50.Image source, BBC Sport

Bangladesh's two experienced left-handers are doing their best to dig the home side out of this hole.

They have got a lot of work to do and, having seen three wickets go down so early, it only takes one mistake and they're back where they started.

  3. Ban 31-3published at 7.3 overs

Top shot from Tamim. Too straight from Mahmood and the Bangladesh left-hander drills it through mid-wicket for four.

  4. Ban 26-3published at 7 overs

    Tamim 12, Shakib 9

Four from Curran's latest as Tamim tries to ease the pressure with a shot over the top.

It's not timed but there is enough on the shot to clear mid-off and brings him a couple of runs.

  5. Ban 22-3published at 6 overs

    Target 327

Good over from Saqib Mahmood, keeping Shakib tied down early in the over before angling the ball across Tamim to beat the edge.

Just a single and leg bye from the over.

  6. Ban 20-3published at 5 overs

    Target 327

No wickets this time for Sam Curran but it is a maiden over and he was a hair's breadth away from removing Tamim Iqbal.

The Bangladesh skipper pressed forward but was beaten by the late swing of Curran.

  7. Ban 14-3published at 3 overs

Sam Curran's bowling: 17% full, 83% good length and 0% short. 2 overs, 0 maidens, went for 9 runs, took 3 wickets with an economy of 4.50.Image source, BBC Sport

Shakib Al Hasan is the new batter for Bangladesh. He gets off the mark with a single off the inside half of the bat.

Tamim then ends the over with a boundary, flicked through the leg side.

Even that wasn't completely convincing, though, as it went at a catchable height but wide of the mid-wicket fielder.

No wonder Buttler was convinced, there's a clear spike on UltraEdge and Curran has a third!

It's the extra bounce that helps brings the wicket this time, Mushfiqur was just trying to steer the ball to third but played for swing that wasn't there.

Edge found and, after a good review from Buttler, the batter has to go.

  9. England reviewpublished at 2.2 overs

Jos Buttler reviews immediately after the umpire turns down another appeal for caught behind.

The England skipper is convinced Mushfiqur has feathered Curran behind.

    Let's see...

  10. Ban 9-2published at 2 overs

    Target 327

Tamim Iqbal manages to ease a few nerves as he dispatches a half-volley from Mahmood through the covers.

The England seamer is straight back at him, though, and squares him up next ball. Extremely close to another nick.

Saqib Mahmood doesn't have to wait long to get into the action on his international return.

The Lancashire seamer will bowl the second over.

  12. Ban 4-2published at 1 over

    Target 327

No hat-trick for Curran as his attempted yorker is slightly too full and Mushfiqur Rahim eases it through the covers for three.

Fantastic start for England, though. Bangladesh up against it already.

    Shanto c Buttler b Curran 0 (Ban 1-2)

Two in two balls for Sam Curran!

Just a little bit of shape away from the left-handed Najmul Hossain Shanto, a feather of an edge and a regulation catch for Jos Buttler.

What a start for England. Curran is on a hat-trick.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.4 overs

    Litton c Roy b Curran 0 (Ban 1-1)

Chipped to backward point! So soft from Litton Das but Sam Curran gets the early wicket for England.

Angled across the right-hander by Curran, Litton reaches for it and just lifts it generously into the hands of Jason Roy.

You can't keep Roy out of the game. A golden duck for Litton.

  15. Postpublished at 10:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Right. The players are back out in Bangladesh and Sam Curran will bowl the first over.

Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das are the opening pair for the hosts.

Back to Mirpur and as brilliantly as Jason Roy played, as entertaining as the knocks from Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran were, there was one moment that stood out above all others for me in that innings...

Taskin Ahmed demanding a review for lbw after his yorker found the middle of Adil Rashid's bat. One of the all-time great reviews.

    Thanks, Joe.

I'm not sure about in the bag but England have got to be clear favourites at the halfway stage.

Batting was very tricky early in the innings and got easier so if Bangladesh have the same conditions we saw late in England's for the entirety of their innings, it could be closer than we think... maybe?

  19. Postpublished at 10:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Sam Drury will be across Mahmood's return and the start of Bangladesh's innings.

Surely England have this one in the bag mate?
