    Quinn lbw b White 2

    Double Nelson for Kent.

Michael Hogan hit a nice four for Kent but fellow tail-ender Matt Quinn is pinned leg before by Jack White for the Northants paceman's fourth wicket of the day.

Chris Tremain's debut 5-44 just outdoes White's 4-57 in the bowling figures, while Zak Crawley was the standout man with the bat for Kent, his 91 helping them establish a 105 first-innings lead.

But no bonus batting point as they fall short of the 250 mark.

  2. wicket

Haynes out for 62 at Derbypublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Derbyshire 321, Worcestershire 254-5

After reaching his Worcestershire 50, Jack Haynes then takes hs side to 250 for a first batting bonus point - then he gets out.

The England Lions man becomes a third scalp for Sam Conners, which brings in wicket-keeper Gareth Roderick to join skipper Brett D'Oliveira.

  3. wicket

WICKET Bailey c Abbott b Roach 0published at 17:38 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 197-8 v Surrey 442

The duck should be walking across the screen now!!

Tom Bailey's first ball is sent into the hands of Sean Abbott - him again - at short midwicket for the tamest of dismissals.

From 182-4 to 197-8, this innings has crumpled in a heap.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Billings c McManus b Tremain 31published at 17:37 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 216-9 v Northants 117

A debut five-fer for Chris Tremain as the Aussie has Sam Billings caught behind - Lewis McManus' fifth snare of the day.

The end is nigh for the Kent innings - or can tail-enders Matt Quinn and Michael Hogan add a few to their near-100 lead?

  5. wicket

WICKET Wood c Worrall b Abbott 0published at 17:34 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 196-7 v Surrey 442

    Sean Abbott does it again!

Luke Wood falls into the trap fourth ball as he clips one to short midwicket where Dan Worrall had been placed.

Abbott has 4-31 and has ripped through Lancashire's batting.

  6. 6 runs

for Kent's Billingspublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 216-8 v Northants 117

Sam Billings is dropped and you know what happens next. Of course, he smashes a six.

Bowler Jack White is not happy.

  7. wicket

WICKET Bell c Foakes b Abbott 20published at 17:30 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 196-6 v Surrey 442

    Surrey are sensing blood now.

George Bell had battled hard but Sean Abbott gets him edging behind. It looks a tricky chance but Ben Foakes makes it look easy.

What a day the champions are having.

  8. 50 runs

for Middlesex's Higginspublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 102-5 v Essex 266

Essex have turned to the spin of Simon Harmer in an attempt to cure this dry, wicket-less spell they are experiencing.

But it's not worked yet and Ryan Higgins has reached his half-century off just 72 balls. It's been good steady scoring considering the position Middlesex find themselves.

He's not taken too many chances but has picked off the runs when they've been there to be picked off.

  9. wicket

    WICKET - Stewart c McManus b Tremain 0published at 17:25 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 209-8 v Northants 117

And another one falls at Canterbury.

Chris Tremain has his fourth wicket on his County Championship debut as Grant Stewart edges behind for a duck. A fourth catch for wicketkeeper Lewis McManus.

Kent's lead is not going to be as a big as they would have hoped when they were 197-5.

  10. Postpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 94-4

We have 22 overs left today.

If Hampshire grab a couple more wickets, they will be in pole position to take victory on day three.

Notts have lost all momentum since the fall of Ben Duckett.

  11. 50 runs

Half-century stand at Headingleypublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Yorkshire 517, Leicestershire 125-3

Two of Leicestershire's foreign contingent are helping the Foxes make more of a fight of it in Leeds.

South African Colin Ackermann and Aussie Peter Handscomb have now put on 61 for the fourth wicket.

They now trail by only 392, although the follow-on avoidance score of 368 in the main target.

  12. wicket

Northants knock another one off as wicketkeeper Lewis McManus takes his third catch behind this innings and Jack White his third wicket as Joey Evison departs for five.

Still 29 overs to be bowled in the day at Canterbury so plenty of time to see the start of a potential Northants second innings.

  13. wicket

WICKET Jennings b Clark 76published at 17:10 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Lancashire 182-5 v Surrey 442

    Bowled him!!!

This is the one Surrey wanted as they remove the Lancashire captain.

They had slowed up Keaton Jennings' scoring and now Jordan Clark has knocked his middle pole out of the ground.

Half the Lancashire wickets have gone and they trail by 260 runs.

  14. 50 runs

  15. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 86-4

Steven Mullaney has arrived in the middle for Notts.

He would not have been expecting that 15 minutes ago as his side has gone from effectively 40-1 to 40-4.

  16. wicket

WICKET James c Brown b Abbott 0published at 17:05 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 86-4

Two wickets in the over for Kyle Abbott!

A good ball, in the right area, and it's good enough to get a thin edge off Lyndon James' bat.

Hampshire have taken three for nought, all to Abbott.

  17. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Brown b Abbott 0published at 17:03 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Hampshire 231 v Nottinghamshire 185 & 86-3

Kyle Abbott makes it a double!

He induces a poor shot from Joe Clarke, who edges injudiciously to the wicketkeeper.

The lead is 40 and Hampshire are right back in it.

  18. 50 runs

partnership for Middlesexpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Middlesex 76-5 v Essex 266

A 50 stand for the sixth wicket is never to be sniffed at - especially when the batters came together at 20-5.

Credit to Ryan Higgins and John Simpson for steadying the Middlesex ship at Lord's because it appeared iceberg-bound a couple of hours back.

Albeit Higgins was a tad fortunate a few balls ago that an edge to slip did not carry. Middlesex need those bits of luck right now, and how.

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Overton b Barnard 1published at 16:56 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Somerset 136-7 v Warwickshire

Two wickets in the space of six deliveries for Warwickshire.

Craig Overton is also clean bowled.

Three scalps today for Ed Barnard - his 26th against Somerset.

  20. wicket

    WICKET - Crawley c Berg b Tremain 91published at 16:55 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    Kent 197-6 v Northants 117

And a couple of balls later, Crawley is gone, nine runs short of his century.

A fine innings from the England man but he is not happy with the manner of his departure, chuntering at himself as he trudges off after looping an easy catch up for Gareth Berg.

Big end of the day coming up here - Kent looking to build as big a lead as possible, Northants trying to limit their deficit.
