    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 41-0

    Shot!

Keaton Jennings has been very patient but he unfurls a lovely cover drive off Peter Siddle for his first boundary of the innings.

The Lancashire skipper creeps into double figures with that one.

    Sussex 357-9 v Yorks

Mickey Edwards bowls back of a length and Crocombe plays and misses outside off.

The next ball is speared down leg but Crocombe can't get a bat on it.

Another leg side ball and Yorkshire frustration continues.

Peter Siddle is now bowling for Somerset.

The 38-year-old doesn't quite bustle in the way he used to do playing for Australia, although his name was mentioned as a possible for the Ashes later on in the series if the Aussies need reinforcements and a bit of expertise in English conditions.

After playing in the last four series in England, surely they would be in a pretty bad spot if Siddle returned, having retired four years ago.

    Middlesex v Notts 276-5

Andersson is punished by Duckett with four whipped away behind square leg.

  6. Afternoon session begins at Hovepublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Sussex 357-9 v Yorks

A long first session in the field for Yorkshire after a delayed start today. The bowlers ripped through most of the tail but the last Sussex pair have put on 53 runs to date.

Jack Carson and Henry Crocombe will hope to add a few more runs.

We might have rain approaching but fair weather at the moment.

Ben Coad will bowl the first over of the session to Carson.

First change in the Somerset attack as Kasey Aldridge replaces Jack Brooks and his headband.

    Middlesex v Notts 264-5

Steady start from Notts under a threatening dark cloud.

Big shout for LBW by Ryan Higgins off the last ball of his over but it looks a tad high.

Andersson is pulled away towards the Tavern Stand by Duckett for four.

This is the highest Notts innings score in the Championship to date and the team will have plenty more to add if Duckett stays in for a bit longer.

    Northants v Hants 401-5

James Vince tucks spinner Rob Keogh away to mid-wicket for an easy single and the Hampshire total reaches 400 in the 114th over. With time lost in the game, how many does Vince want before making a declaration?

    Middlesex v Notts 255-5

Would you believe me if I said there were 21 pitches in various stages of evolution at Lord's?

Single to Duckett off the second ball and Mullaney defends.

Martin Andersson bowls a very full length round the wicket from the Nursery End. Middlesex have a defensive field with no slips in place. Two runs from the over.

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 26-0

Luke Wells with a glorious flick over midwicket for six off Lewis Gregory. That almost comes out of nowhere.

Wells hit 103 on his last match at Taunton, so he must like it at the County Ground.

  14. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

Keaton Jennings decides to leave one from Jack Brooks and it does not miss the batter's stumps by much.

The pair exchange a friendly word in the middle after with Brooks sporting a big grin.

Jennings would be a big wicket for the Somerset bowlers.

The umpires have taken a look and tea will be taken at 3.10pm - so hope lingers.

  17. Last-wicket pair frustrate Yorkshirepublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Sussex 357-9 v Yorkshire - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An entertaining session at Hove where play didn’t start until 12:10 because of rain.

Yorkshire took the new ball after one over, and then took 4-29 in quick time with Ben Coad claiming three of the wickets to fall

However, when it looked as if Yorkshire would be batting before lunch, Henry Crocombe and Jack Carson have added an unbroken 50 partnership for the last wicket much to the visible annoyance of the bowlers.

The overhead conditions are offering some help to the seamers and Ollie Robinson will be looking forward to his first County Championship bowl of the season at some stage after lunch

    Northants v Hants 386-5

    James VinceImage source, Getty Images

A single off Luke Procter and James Vince reaches 150 off 235 balls at Wantage Road.

It's been a quality innings by the Hampshire skipper who, if you recall, was dropped on 25 by Ben Sanderson during the opening day.

We have 110 overs completed, Hampshire earn three batting points.

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 12-0

The first really hittable ball in the Lancashire innings as Lewis Gregory drops short and Luke Wells punches it through the covers.

It's an afternoon of long sleeve sweaters on the field and coats on in the stands.

    But no rain, so far.

  20. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 21 April 2023

    Northants v Hants 381-5

A sliding save by Sam Whiteman keeps James Vince to a single and prevents him reaching 150.

Seven from, Chris Tremain's latest over and Hampshire need 19 runs from the 110th of the innings for an extra batting point. Vince is 148.
