    Middlesex 206-6 v Notts 364

    Kent 35-0 v Essex 451-5 dec

Jamie Porter is handing trouble with the Canterbury slope.

He is certainly helping Zak Crawley get his score moving. Two more legside half-volleys and Crawley is too good to miss out on those.

Crawley is already up to 30 with six boundaries, five off Porter.

  10. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Sussex 361 & 49-2 v Yorks 298

Advantage Sussex going into this session, but Yorkshire have limited their advantage with a precious last wicket stand of 59 between Ben Coad (45) and Mickey Edwards (19).

They had a bit of luck with the run out of Ali Orr at the non striker's end but it was skill alone that accounted for the wicket of Alsop, pinned lbw shortly before the break.

Sussex captain Cheteshwar Pujara (1 not out) is batting with Tom Haines, who has looked largely assured in his unbeaten knock of 22 to date.

Dom Bess will bowl to Pujara.

  11. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Kent 21-0 v Essex 451-5 dec

Zak Crawley is given the last helping of the lunchtime buffet with the first ball of the session.

Short and halfway down the track on the legside from Jamie Porter - that is four for any batter worth their salt.

The same for the fifth ball of the over, a leg-stump half-volley, which gets the treatment from the England opener.

  12. Afternoon session begins at Lord'spublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Middlesex 197-6 v Notts 364

This could be a pivotal session of play. Middlesex are a long way behind parity but with a pretty poor weather forecast expected for much of tomorrow, they can seriously impede the chances of a Notts win with a couple more sessions of batting today.

Ryan Higgins has 31 and resumes the batting with Luke Hollman - who is 13 not out.

Stuart Broad has the ball and will bowl to Higgins.

  13. Lancashire leadpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 456-4

Third ball of the middle session and a controlled edge from George Balderson puts Lancashire in front.

An outside edge off the next ball and it's four more for Balderson.

Three in a row for the all-rounder, but this time it's a more controlled shot through backward shot as Kasey Aldridge drops short outside off.

Make that four! The best shot of the lot with a lovely off-drive from Balderson.

16 off the over - Lancashire now lead by 15 and now have all five batting points from this innings.

    Glamorgan 50-2 v Durham 471-9 dec - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Durham continue to dominate in Cardiff but may have their work cut out to push for victory with rain forecast to shorten today’s play and interfere again tomorrow.

They started the day needing 68 runs off 14 overs to pick up maximum batting points and got there in the 110th over thanks to some aggressive strokeplay from Brydon Carse, in particular, in a career-best 91.

Liam Trevaskis comfortably steered Durham past 450 but the visitors strangely decided to stay in the middle for an extra three overs before Trevaskis, on 79, missed a slog at Labuschagne - whose variable efforts with his new off-spin brought him his best first-class bowling figures of 4-81.

Glamorgan lost Eddie Byrom lbw to Paul Coughlin's first delivery, while Ben Raine won a marginal leg-before verdict against Glamorgan skipper David Lloyd (31) on the stroke of lunch as the umpires continue to look favourably on the bowlers.

Coad hit 45 in 32 balls including five huge sixes, but was eventually dismissed by Jack Carson, who finished with career best figures of 5-79

In reply, Sussex lost Ali Orr run out backing up for the third time in five innings, and with Tom Alsop then out first ball, Sussex have some rebuilding to do after lunch with the lead 112.

Somerset haven't exactly come roaring back into this contest but they have picked up three wickets and stemmed the flow of runs.

A repeat of the 801 which Lancashire piled up here in 1895 remains a possibility on the flattest of flat pitches.

The enforced retirement of Keaton Jennings with a calf problem has made that much less likely, as has the two wickets - Vilas and de Grandhomme - which Lewis Gregory picked up with the new ball.

    But a run-fest this remains.

    Glamorgan 50-2 v Durham 471-9 dec

Glamorgan lose their second wicket to the final ball before lunch as David Lloyd falls lbw to Ben Raine for 31 as he tries to work the ball through the leg-side.

Marnus Labuschagne is still there, 15 not out, and the Welsh county are going to need plenty more from their Australian star after Durham declared earlier in the morning.

Brydon Carse made 91 before he fell to Michael Neser and Liam Trevaskis was last to go for 79.

  20. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Sussex 361 & 49-2 v Yorks 49-2 - lead by 112

This game is very closely fought as Yorkshire's 10th wicket stand was every bit as productive as the Sussex last pair vigil on Friday evening.

Ali Orr was desperately unlucky to be run out backing up and a crucial breakthrough by Ben Coad to get rid of Alsop after an entertaining and vital cameo with the bat.
