Although the physio has to come on and check if the Lancashire captain is OK.

First change of the morning at Wantage Road as James Fuller takes over from Kyle Abbott.

He bangs it hard into the surface and Josh Cobb is fortunate as he prods uncertainly at a short of a length ball which flies past the edge.

Nothing wrong with that, though, as he cracks the next one square for four runs and is now 35 not out.

Carson bowls a tad short and Jordan Thompson thumps the ball away just in front of square leg for four.

Out next ball! Carson has four wickets in the innings.

No doubt about this one as the batter plays all around a well-flighted ball and is stuck on the crease in front of all three stumps.

Yorkshire eight down and 138 behind.

Oh no, Tom Westley falls two short of his 150!

The Essex captain takes on a pull shot from Conor McKerr and he would reach the landmark if not for a superb piece of fielding.

Daniel Bell-Drummond takes the catch out in the deep, but knowing he's going to step over the ropes, manages to knock it back for Ben Compton to complete the job.

Still a great effort from Westley, coming off 185 balls with 25 fours.

Gareth Berg, you may be asking? He is at the crease because Lewis McManus is unable to resume his innings because of a hand injury.

    Somerset 441 v Lancashire 306-1

Keaton Jennings after scoring a career-best 318 v SomersetImage source, Rex Features

Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings resumes on 124 not out as he seeks to lead his side into a first innings lead.

He put on 154 with Luke Wells (82) and then an unbroken 148 with Josh Bohannon (73 not out) to set a fabulous platform for today.

Jennings must love batting against Somerset. Last July, he smashed a career-best 318 as Lancashire reached 624-9 dec at Southport.

In that match, Somerset had scored 446 in their first knock before Jennings put them to the sword.

    Will history repeat itself?

After blocking his first five balls, Kasey Aldridge drops short and Jennings sends it to the point boundary for his first runs of the morning.

It also brings up the 150 partnership between him and Bohannon.

The partnership between Browne and Tom Westley is now worth 258.

  19. Four!published at 11:02 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Kent v Essex 293-1
