    Bell-Drummond lbw b Harmer 23 (Kent 212-2 v Essex 451-5 dec)

    Famous last words!

Daniel Bell-Drummond pads up, offering no shot to one just outside off-stump from Simon Harmer and is given out LBW.

Both wickets to fall have now gone to the wily South African.

  4. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Middlesex 274 v Notts 364 & 28-1

Notts have their noses in front but victory looks a long way off.

A persistent attack and dodgy Sunday forecast stand in their way.

A long session awaits both sides this evening - with 43 overs remaining.

  5. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Glamorgan 143-5 v Durham 471-9 dec

Just a single from the latest Brydon Carse over and that is tea at Sophia Gardens, where we had a brief interruption for bad light during the afternoon session.

Kiran Carlson is 38 not out and Chris Cooke has 31 and these two have added 54 together since the donwfall of Billy Root.

Glamorgan are still 328 behind, though, so plenty of work to do to ensure they don't have to follow-on.

  6. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Middlesex 274 v Notts 364 & 28-1

Middlesex are doing a good holding job here as Bamber bowls just outside off and Hameed tries to get the ball through mid on.

    Maiden over.

Slater is off the mark with a push into mid off from the bowling of Roland-Jones for one.

Good running - and that will get the heart racing.

Four runs to Hameed with a steer behind gully. A bottom-edged pull to fine leg for one more.

  7. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Kent 212-1 v Essex 451-5 dec

Quick, whippy hands from Daniel Bell-Drummond gets him four off Jamie Porter.

Zak Crawley then sweeps one out for a single off Simon Harmer and that brings up the 50 stand between him and DBD.

Kent rolling along at more than five an over and under little pressure.

    Worcs 157 v Gloucs 231 & 96-1

James Bracey is looking more comfortable now and boundary off Ben Gibbon takes him to 26 not out. Chris Dent has 39 and Worcestershire need a couple of wickets to check Gloucestershire's progress.

    Sussex 361 & 137 v Yorkshire 298 - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An extraordinary session with Sussex losing eight wickets, and after an opening stand of 41 all 10 wickets for an additional 97 runs

The umpires gave seven lbws and only the decision against Tom Alsop looked questionable

The wickets were shared around the Yorkshire bowlers with Dom Bess the main contributor with 3-36

Yorkshire need 201 to win and with 42 overs to be bowled tonight a result either way is possible

  10. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Kent 202-1 v Essex 451-5 dec

Simon Harmer is a touch short but Daniel Bell-Drummond is quick to rock back and cut it for four.

Bell-Drummond is on to 17 with three nice boundaries.

Harmer has been expensive - going at seven runs an over. Not what Essex would have wanted.

  11. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Glamorgan 136-5 v Durham 471-9 dec

Good save in his follow-through by Brydon Carse as Kiran Carlson drills the ball back down the ground. Carlson is 37 not out and Chris Cooke has 25 - they need three more runs for a 50 stand.

Mike Bell: Brilliant entertainment here at Canterbury. 96-ball hundred from Zak Crawley, full of genuinely high class shots. #Zakball, external

A different view to the earlier one from Callum at 3.45pm. Zak Crawley's place in the England team divides opinions, but he's a classy player to watch on his game.

From Callum: "#bbccricket, external For me, it's the wrong Kent opener opening for England. Swap Crawley for Compton and see how Crawley performs in the championship for the summer and then re-evaluate."

Edwards is bowling full and fast - forcing Crocombe to square up and defend.

The last ball was a real toe cruncher that the batter has to dig out.

Maiden over. The lead is 200.

  18. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Kent 187-1 v Essex 451-5 dec

Simon Harmer finally induces a false shot from Zak Crawley as he goes to sweep but top edges it towards leg slip.

But it just has enough height on it to loop away from Nick Browne's reaches as the fielder gets both hands to it but can't hang on.

    Middlesex 274 v Notts 364 & 18-0

Another rather streaky four from Hameed, this time off the bowling of Bamber as he attempts to steer the ball and gets a thick edge just wide of second slip.

The runs are flowing - but not really out of the middle of the bat.

    Glamorgan 125-5 v Durham 471-9 dec

Following a single over earlier on, Australia spinner Matt Kuhnemann re-enters the attack for Durham as Ben Raine is given a break.

Kuhnemann took 12 wickets in Durham's first two games and Glamorgan may have to spend a couple of overs sussing him out.
