An absolute favourite of mine here as one of the best spells of cricket I've ever witnessed.

    Glamorgan 305 & 15-0 v Durham 471-9 dec

A positive start by Glamorgan to their second knock. David Lloyd takes back to back boundaries off Ben Raine's opening over, the second a stylish off drive.

Eddie Byrom is on a pair, but opens his account with four off Paul Coughlin who continues to bowl after picking up the final wicket of the home side's first innings.

Glamorgan's first innings comes to an end as Timm van der Gugten chips Paul Coughlin to mid-on where Scott Borthwick takes the catch.

    The follow-on has been enforced.

  5. Game in the balancepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Somerset 441 & 179-6 v Lancashire 554

This game remains right in the balance. Lancashire have picked up enough wickets to keep Somerset nervous.

Those runs from Tom Abell and James Rew and the three drops of Rew have kept the Red Rose on edge.

A nervy moment there for Lewis Gregory, as an edge flies wide of the slips and down to the boundary. Four welcome runs.

    Somerset 441 & 171-6 v Lancashire 554

It is now 17 balls since James Rew was dismissed as Lancashire have tightened the screw in terms of runs.

But Somerset have gone into safety mode.

Saqib Mahmood replaces Jimmy Anderson and his first ball is guided out into the deep by Lewis Gregory.

Kasey Aldridge gets off the mark with a single off the last ball as the lead inches up to 59.

  7. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Somerset 441 & 169-6 v Lancashire 554

Somerset's advantage is only 56 as Kasey Aldridge, the first of the non-batters, is at the wicket.

There are 48 overs remaining in the day's play. At what point will the home county feel that the match is safe?

    Middlesex 274 v Notts 364 & 158-6

If the weather is kind, this game will be back on at 3:30pm.

    Early Notts declaration, perhaps?

    Rew c Wells b Hartley 47 (Somerset 441 & 169-6 v Lancashire 554)

Tom Hartley does come to the party with the ball!

A good flighted delivery gets James Rew driving and this time he is caught by Luke Wells at slip.

Rew had been living dangerously since lunch - dropped three times - and now his luck runs out.

Still, 164 runs in the match for Rew - a top effort from the 19-year-old.

  10. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Somerset 441 & 164-5 v Lancashire 554

Tom Hartley is into his 13th over of this innings, the same number as he bowled in the first innings. He is yet to take a wicket in this match.

Would Lancashire be carrying more threat if they had the leg-breaks of Matt Parkinson to call upon?

It's a tough dilemma. Hartley made 34 batting at number eight and 73 last week at Chelmsford. He also fields in the slips or at gully.

Parky is the ultimate number 11 and usually fields out in the deep.

Another nomination for the most fiery spell of bowling you've seen.

  12. Play to resume shortly at Cardiffpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Glamorgan 301-9 v Durham 471-9 dec

We've lost eight overs in that rainy interlude.

    57 left as it stands.

Jimmy Anderson has his first crack at James Rew since his horror drop.

But Rew is very, very, watchful and he manages to get bat on all six deliveries.

Somerset's lead is 51 and there are 52 overs left in the day.

It's stopped raining, but it's the rain that has gone before that's the problem.

    Right, Jonathan?

"Umpires have said it's very wet, but there is plenty of time and they are prepared to wait and see if the ground staff can get the pitch fit."

  15. Jimmy back in the attackpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Somerset 441 & 161-5 v Lancashire 554

Lancashire sense an opening after the dismissal of Tom Abell, so Jimmy Anderson returns to the attack.

He will still be smarting from his horrific drop of James Rew not long ago.

Another nomination for the most fearsome spell of fast bowling ever seen. In this case, it's not one but a whole lot of them.

From MiloCat: "Marshall, Holding, Roberts. Garner - hostile spell throughout all of the late 70s early 80s #bbccricket, external."

A lovely drive through cover by Van der Gugten for four.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but a few brollies are coming up at the River Taff End.

Shot! A controlled pull to leg for four.

That's the Glamorgan 300 and a 93-ball half century for Van der Gugten.
