    Abell b Bailey 40 (Somerset 441 & 157-5 v Lancashire 554)

That's the solution to dropping chances!

Tom Bailey knocks back Tom Abell's off-pole with a cracker as the batter is caught on the drive.

The Somerset captain departs for 40 with his side leading by 44 and 57 overs still left in this match.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Carlson c&b Trevaskis 119 (Glamorgan 291-9 v Durham 471-9 dec)

    Wow! Who saw this coming?

Carlson is down the track, looking to hammer the ball down the ground and hits it like a tracer straight to Trevaskis at throat height.

Nine down and the follow on is still not saved.

And now James Rew plonks Tom Hartley over the midwicket fence for a maximum thanks to a big slop sweep.

He then goes for another slog sweep and gets four more.

And now Rew is dropped AGAIN! Another genuine edge, which is shelled by Luke Wells at slip. Not a hugely difficult one either.

And to rub salt into the wounds, he reverse-sweeps the last ball for four.

15 runs and a dropped chance in an eventful over.

    Glamorgan 291-8 v Durham 471-9 dec

Durham captain Scott Borthwick has tried pretty much everything to move the game along here - and Carse is bowling to a 7-2 off side field.

Van der Gugten gets a thick outside edge down to third man for four, much to the bowler's chagrin.

Liam Trevaskis replaces Ben Raine at the River End.

    Glamorgan 284-8 v Durham 471-9 dec

This ninth wicket stand is really hurting Durham's chances of victory - and the rear guard is in fact a record stand, as BBC Radio Newcastle's Martin Emmerson reports:

"Record 9th wicket stand for Glamorgan v Durham."

    Somerset 441 & 142-4 v Lancashire 554

James Rew has now had two massive let-offs and he greets the returning Tom Bailey with a clip off his legs for four.

The stand between him and Tom Abell is now worth 51.

The big question is whether those drops have cost Lancashire any chance of pushing for victory.

  8. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Somerset 441 & 137-4 v Lancashire 554

Ladies and gentlemen, close the vote, we have the worst drop of the season right here!!!

And of all people, it's Jimmy Anderson who is the guilty party!

James Rew goes to sweep Tom Hartley, but gets it all wrong, sending it miles in the air.

Anderson is at square leg and can amble to where the ball is coming down gently, but it somehow gets through his hands and drops to the floor.

I cannot stress enough how BAD a drop that is!

The new ball is due in seven overs - and that might be a last roll of the dice for Durham as they try to force a result.

Van der Gugten brings up the 100 partnership with a lovely back foot drive through point off Carse.

That came in 144 balls on what looks like quite a flat surface.

Van der Gugten looks pretty comfortable here, bar that thick outside edge in the last over.

He's well forward to defend against Ben Raine.

Then he tries to hook a short ball and misses. Oops.

What's the weather doing here? Thick grey clouds and a tiny patch of blue above the ground at the moment.

    Somerset 441 & 130-4 v Lancashire 554

James Rew guides one from George Balderson between second slip and gully for four. Lovely shot.

Rew now has 27 to go with his career-best 117 in the first innings.

If Glamorgan can bat for another hour or so that could be enough to seal the draw.

Carse drops short and Carlson is on his toes, hammering the ball through cover for four.

A single follows and Van der Gugten gets a thick outside edge off a drive wide of the slips for four more.

A quiet start post-lunch, which is definitely in Somerset's favour.

Tom Abell and James Rew are offering the sense of calm that they did in the first innings during that huge stand of 244.

George Balderson and Tom Hartley have opened the bowling since lunch- it has been tidy but not overly threatening.

  14. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Glamorgan 266-8 v Durham 471-9 dec

I'm sorry to report that it's overcast here with showers possible later this afternoon.

Raine has lost his radar a little bit and is spearing the ball down leg.

His second ball is nudged away for four down the leg side by Carlson.

Four byes follow and the fifth ball is hooked away to leg for a single.

Nine off the over - and Brydon Carse will bowl next.

  15. rain stops play

Re-start delayed at New Roadpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Worcs 51-4 (target 301)

Unfortunately, some wet stuff arrived during the lunch interval in Worcester and the covers have been brought out.

Gloucestershire need six more wickets to win - or possibly just five if Brett D'Oliveira is unable to bat again, having been struck by a ball from fast bowler Marchant de Lange.

Matthew Waite is five not out and Ben Cox has two.

  16. Play resumes at Cardiffpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Glamorgan 257-8 v Durham 471-9 dec

A likely draw here - but this game could be a very tense affair if Durham get the option to force the follow-on.

Still 65 needed to take that off that table.

Kiran Carson is the key for the hosts. He's 102 not out and he'll bat on with Timm van der Gugten on 30.

Ben Raine will bowl from the River End. He's been the pick of the bowlers, with 4-58 so far.

    Middlesex 274 v Notts 364 & 158-6

No updates on this yet, but it's very gloomy and the covers are firmly on.

We might have better conditions in an hour or two so don't write this one off just yet.

    Somerset 441 & 125-4 v Lancashire 554

We have cricket again in Taunton.

George Balderson has resumed his over to Somerset captain Tom Abell.

Plenty of life left in this game with the home side just eight runs ahead.

Make that 12 as Abell clips one nicely to the boundary at square leg.

Looks like it’s down to the two local boys, Tom Abell and James Rew, to save the day for Somerset for the second time in this match, after the home team’s new look top order batting crumbled yet again.

There still isn’t much in this pitch for the bowlers, but what there is, the Lancashire attack are extracting, thanks to their accuracy.

    A tense afternoon lies ahead.

  20. Further delays at Hovepublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2023

    Sussex 361 & 137 v Yorks 298 & 138-3 (Target 201)

No play till after lunch - and tough and go then.

The south of England has been hardest hit today.

Grey clouds are all around us at Hove, but there might be a patch of fair weather mid-afternoon.

Fingers crossed the pitch isn't too damp by that stage.
