    Yorkshire 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 1-0

A solid start to Glamorgan's second innings, with one run for no loss after four overs.

Ben Coad took the new ball for Yorkshire yesterday but, as mentioned earlier, he aggravated an injury while bowling in the first innings and he is not on the field for the home side.

Matt Fisher and Jordan Thompson have been entrusted with the new cherry today.

    Somerset v Northamptonshire 243-7

That's a third first-class half-century for the 20-year-old and he moves within 61 of his father, David.

Some gorgeous hitting along the way, perhaps predictably, given his stock, nine fours and 96 balls along the way.

Northants are closing on a batting bonus, Jordan Buckingham just edged Peter Siddle a foot short of first slip before racing away to the rope to help their cause. Somerset have been short of luck, it's fair to say.

  3. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Worcs 264 v Sussex 200-5

Oli Carter drives Josh Tongue square for four to post a 50 partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, then pushes a single to take the Sussex score to 200. He is 17 not out and Pujara has 61.

    WICKET - Broad c Bell b Williams 26published at 14:15 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancashire 214

Notts get a first-innings lead of 35 but end tantalisingly one run short of a batting bonus point as Stuart Broad is adjudged caught behind trying another heave over the leg side.

  5. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Yorkshire 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 0-0

We have play again at Headingley! Glamorgan's openers Andrew Salter and David Lloyd will look to build the visitors' lead of 139 after Michael Neser's heroics in the morning session.

Some ominous-looking dark clouds above, though, but no more rain for now.

  6. 50 runs

for Cheteshwar Pujarapublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Worcs 264 v Sussex 188-5

Ben Gibbon tries a short ball, but Cheteshwar Pujara has loads of time to swivel and pull it away powerfully for his ninth boundary.

It carries him to 50 from 92 balls faced and he celebrates with a square cut for four that Gordon Greenidge and Robin Smith would have been very proud of.

    Notts 243-9 v Lancashire 214

Stuart Broad carves Will Williams away through point and James Anderson, stationed on the boundary, can't prevent it crossing the rope. He responds by pounding the ground in frustration.

That's one they can perhaps have a little chuckle about when they meet up on England duty in a couple of weeks.

    Notts' lead is now 29.

We were expecting a 2:00pm at Chelmsford but in the words of Messrs Hodgson and Davies (for those of a Supertramp persuasion): "It's raining again." The waiting continues....

We asked you to tell us the name of the greatest overseas player to turn out for your county. It's clear from the reply below that Somerset have never struggled to attract the very best.

    Worcs 264 v Sussex 161-5

They are back out in the middle following luncheon at New Road, with Ben Gibbon to bowl to Cheteshwar Pujara.

The India batter holds the key to Sussex's hopes of a first-innings lead, having already hit two Championship hundreds this season.

He starts the scoreboard moving again with three runs off the Worcestershire left-armer.

  12. wicket

WICKET - Hameed lbw b Williams 97published at 13:51 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Notts 226-9 v Lancashire 214

Haseeb Hameed falls three runs short of a century against his former county.

Will Williams gets the Notts opener lbw - a deserved second wicket of the innings for him.

Hameed trudges off with his head back, but he gets a good round of applause from the home faithful and he can be well proud of his efforts because he's kept his side in this match.

  13. dropped catch

Broad dropped on 18published at 13:47 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Notts 221-8 v Lancashire 214

Stuart Broad gets a life, dropped at slip by Luke Wells off Tom Bailey.

We know Broad doesn't need long to take a game away from a team - how crucial might that be?

  14. rain stops play

Resumption delayed at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Essex 314 v Surrey 80-1

The latest rain interruption is proving stubbornly longer than the first two. Dom Sibley and Ollie Pope are the not out batters for Surrey, with the latter just settling into his innings, which began after the downfall of Rory Burns, who was caught off Sam Cook for 27.

There will be an inspection at 2:00pm.

  15. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Notts 218-8 v Lancashire 214

The players are back in the field at Trent Bridge, where Haseeb Hameed and Stuart Broad are looking to build Notts' lead over Lancashire. It currently stands at four runs.

  16. Postpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Hampshire 229 v Warwickshire 100-3

This feels like a key period at the Ageas. Sam Hain and Dan Mousley have been at the heart of many of Warwickshire's best moments in the young season, if they can linger then the hopes of batting points will grow.

If Hampshire can continue where they left off before lunch then it's all up for grabs.

Hain takes his side into three figures with a beautifully-timed clip through the leg side off Kyle Abbott for four.

  17. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Somerset v Northamptonshire 232-7

In the 31 overs and two balls of the morning session the visitors have added 95 runs for the loss of three wickets. If it was a boxing match it might be a split decision.

Fascinatingly poised for the afternoon session when they return in 40 minutes time. James Sales remains unbeaten on 44 with Jordan Buckingham on five.

  18. rain stops play

More rain in Leedspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 5 May 2023

    Yorkshire 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 0-0

It's been raining again at Headingley, where there was a delayed start to play on day two.

When they resume, it'll be interesting to see if Ben Coad has the ball in his hand at any stage in Glamorgan's second innings, having aggravated an injury while bowling yesterday.

We asked you to tell us who you think is the best overseas player to appear for your county. It was a tough choice for one Essex fan.

From Tommy: "Plenty of class overseas players to choose from @EssexCricket, external such as Mark Waugh, Stuart Law and Ryan ten Doeschate but for me Ken McEwan was instrumental in turning Essex into the most successful County side since Essex won their first trophy in 1979 #bbccricket, external."
