  1. wicket

    WICKET - Bohannon c Duckett b James 92published at 17:23 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Lancs 214 & 203-3, Notts 249

The rain break claims another one.

Lancashire did not want to come off when they were going so well this morning. But, after a four and a half hour delay, followed by another five-minute rain break, the restart has not brought them much luck.

With concentration complelely wrecked, Josh Bohannon follows George Balderson back to the pavilion.

And would you believe it, there might be another weather break coming.

  2. sun

And back on again in Nottinghampublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Lancs 214 & 203-2, Notts 249

The black cloud that took them off has passed over. And they are back on again!

  3. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 412 v Northamptonshire 255 & 8-0

Ricardo Vasconcelos cracks eight off the first three balls of the innings off Craig Overton, who replies by blasting one into his ribs which causes the opener visible discomfort.

Just like that the deficit is back under 150.

  4. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Lancs 214 & 203-2, Notts 249

    Well, that was short lived.

Just 21 bals possible following the resumption - and off they come again.

Time enough to get rid of the luckless George Balderson.

Josh Bohannon is still there on 92.

  5. wicket

    WICKET - Balderson c Duckett b Stone 91published at 17:13 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 203-2

Pain for George Balderson as he again misses out on a maiden first-class century.

The 22-year-old fell three short of a century in the final game of last season against Surrey at Old Trafford.

Olly Stone finds the edge. And he has gone for 91.

  6. 200 runs

Lancashire get the 200 up at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 200-1

Lancashire go past 200 - but there is already in the air at Trent Bridge. Following this five oclock restart, they might not be out there for too long, after all.

  7. Play abandoned at Derbypublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Derbyshire 350-7 dec v Leics 122

There won't be another ball bowled today at Derby.

After a final inspection at 5pm, umpires Paul Pollard and Billy Taylor have decided the pitch remains unplayable.

Derbyshire will be the keener of the sides to get out there tomorrow and try to force a result after racing to a bonus point and declaring early this morning with a lead of 228.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Siddle b White 0published at 17:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 412 all out v Northamptonshire 255

Five-fer for Jack White. He ends with 5-103 but after getting carted around by Tom Kohler-Cadmore for the first half of this innings it's been a great reply.

He gets his second in as many balls as Peter Siddle attempts an ambitious hoik, misses the ball and has his leg stump removed.

So 412 means a lead of 157. Could have been more, in truth, but they have 19 overs to try to get into the Northants top-order now. They are firmly in charge.

  9. Back underway at Trent Bridgepublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 196-1

Olly Stone bowls the first over after the restart - following a four and a half rain delay.

it is the first of 26 left in the day

And Lancashire lead Nottinghamshire by 161 runs with nine wickets remaining.

The George Balderson-Josh Bohannon stand is now worth 181.

  10. wicket

    WICKET - Overton c Whiteman b White 26published at 17:03 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 412-9 v Northamptonshire 255

Craig Overton tries to crack Jack White for a six over mid-on but Sam Whiteman races around to take a tidy catch just inside the rope.

  11. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 412-8 v Northamptonshire 255

Why stop at a bonus point... Jack Leach guided Jordan Buckingham away for a coupe and then cuts him through mid wicket for another four.

He makes it 14 off the over with a clip off his pads through square leg to the fence and then a jab at a bouncer which flies off the top edge and over the keeper to the boundary.

Leach has 21 from 18 balls, 19 off them off Buckingham.

  12. The 5.00 weather recappublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

Three games gone - at Worcester, Southampton and Chelmsford.

    Off at Headingley.

    Inspecting at Derby.

    Now back on at Nottingham.

And still going strong at Taunton.

  13. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 397-8 v Northamptonshire 255

Jackus Leachscothick, take a bow. A glorious slash through the covers at the County Ground will put a smile on the face of any Somerset faithful.

Craig Overton gets in on the act with a hook into the leg side for another four off Jordan Buckingham later in the over.

Another batting bonus is one lusty blow away.

  14. Play to resume at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 195-1

The mopping up operation at Trent Bridge appears to have worked! Play is due resume at 5pm, with Lancashire on 195-1 - provided the rain stays away.

If that happens, there are a scheduled 26.3 overs to be bowled tonight.

  15. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 386-8 v Northamptonshire 255

Race to 400, 450 if possible, and declare to give themselves a few overs at the visitors tonight. That's surely the Somerset gameplan here.

    The lead is already 131.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Aldridge b White 24published at 16:45 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 379-8 v Northamptonshire 255

I reckon the Somerset lot got online from the dressing room at tea to read our post (see 16:10 BST).

Kasey Aldridge and Craig Overton have been greedily tucking into this new ball offering. Jordan Buckingham and Jack White have both conceded more than 100 runs from their 20 overs.

White has however collected his third scalp, getting Aldridge to play inside the line and knocking out his off-stump.

Jack Leach, who is no slouch with the bat these days, is in next.

  17. Further 5.00 inspection at Derbypublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Leicestershire 122, Derbyshire 326-7 (97.2 overs)

No play so far today at Derby because of rain - but they have not given up all hope yet.

Umpires Paul Pollard and Billy Taylor plan to inspect again at 17:00 BST.

  18. Close of play at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 24-0 v Surrey 240

With rain returning, there'll be no more play between Essex and Surrey today.

Just 28 balls were bowled this morning, with Essex adding nine runs to their overnight 15-0 - an overall lead of 98.

  19. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 359-7 v Northamptonshire 255

Jack White and Jordan Buckingham take the new ball for Northants after tea but Craig Overton picks up a perfectly decent ball from White and clubs him over the ropes for his second four.

    The lead is 104.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 0-0 v Glamorgan (target 492)

With Yorkshire facing a mammoth target of 492, the home supporters may not be too disappointed that it's started raining at Headingley during the tea interval.

Glamorgan will have to wait for their chance to take those 10 wickets...
