  1. Lunch time in Worcesterpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Worcestershire 264 & 34-1, Sussex 373

    Dan Wheeler
BBC Hereford & Worcester at New Road

Although it's brightened up, the rain has never really stopped over the last four hours.

To illustrate just how wet the outfield is, a wagtail floated down to land, only to be immediately put off by the water splashing up over its feet.

The umpires have had a more measured walk around and decided that . . . lunch will be taken at the usual time.

We live in hope of some play later. But it's a slim one.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Marnus Labuschagnepublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 170-2

There's been a rare sighting of a spinner at Headingley!

Ten minutes before lunch on day three, we finally see the first instance of spin in the match, with Dom Bess asked to turn his arm over as Yorkshire search in vain for a wicket.

Marnus Labuschagne is pleased to see Bess, anyway - reverse sweeping the off-spinner for a boundary that takes him to his second half-century of the match from 104 balls.

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 153-2

That'll be a relief for Sam Northeast, who gets to his first half-century of the season after missing out by a single in the first innings.

Northeast has batted well this morning, slashing Jordan Thompson for six in the previous over and then steering Mickey Edwards to the third man boundary to reach 50 from 88 balls.

  4. Lunch in Nottingham, Chelmsford and Derbypublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

Lunch is now "officially" being taken in the Notts-Lancs, Essex-Surrey and Derbyshire-Leicestershire games.

Eveywhere else it is simply just raining!

    Except Headingley, obviously!!!

  5. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 142-2

Slightly surprising that Yorkshire have stuck stubbornly with seam all morning - Dom Bess hasn't bowled yet - and they've now gone back to Mickey Edwards for a second spell.

Edwards' first delivery climbs on Sam Northeast, but the edge flies over the slip cordon and away to the rope. Glamorgan's lead is now 281 and counting...

  6. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 125-2

George Hill is getting the odd ball to nip past the bat, but still no sign of a wicket for Yorkshire in this morning session.

Glamorgan continue accumulating runs, with Jonny Bairstow diving in vain behind the stumps to try and stop a ball that glanced off Marnus Labuschagne's pad and away for four leg-byes.

Labuschagne has moved on to 38, with Sam Northeast on 28 and the pair have added 68 so far.

  7. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 195-1

George Balderson and Josh Bohannon do NOT want to go off.

It doesn't seem to be coming down yet but it shouldn't be far away, if the radar is to be believed. The groundstaff are certainly hustling.

Bohannon has moved from 38 to 85 this morning while Balderson is unbeaten on 90 from 140 balls. The lead is 160 and the partnership is 145.

  8. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 111-2

Forget our rash suggestion that Glamorgan were gaining momentum! The batting side, whose lead is now up to 250, have slowed to a more sedate scoring rate of around one per over just lately.

It's encouraging for Yorkshire that Matt Fisher and George Hill have managed to gain an element of control, but they'd much rather have a wicket or two, you feel...

  9. Further pitch inspection at Tauntonpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Somerset 199-4 v Northamptonshire 255

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

Update from Taunton following the umpires' lengthy inspection - lunch will be taken early at 12.30pm with a further inspection at 1.10pm.

It hasn't rained here for a couple of hours, and with the groundstaff working hard on mopping-up operations everything possible is crossed for some cricket later this afternoon.

  10. Perfect morning for Lancashirepublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 190-1

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire commentator

George Balderson and Josh Bohannon have enjoyed an ideal morning.

Continuing where they left off last night, they have seen off Fletcher and Hutton and then Broad and Stone, both have surpassed half centuries and are now eyeing-up three figures.

Should he reach the landmark it'll be the first of Balderson's first-class career. Given the chance to open the batting in the absence of Keaton Jennings he's looked composed, showed great judgement and is developing into a very fine all rounder.

  11. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 176-1

Stuart Broad's face is darker than the sky.

George Balderson edges the first ball of his 11th over over second slip and away to the ropes and then two balls later bumps a drive past the dive of mid-off and to the fence.

Balderson is onto 88. Broad has 0-50 from 11. That's 32 for Lancs from the last four overs.

Glamorgan are starting to gather some pace at Headingley, with Marnus Labuschagne and Sam Northeast both belting Matt Fisher to the cover boundary to bring their second-innings total above three figures.

The forecast isn't that great later in the day, so the visitors will be keen to build up a big lead and get Yorkshire back out there and under pressure. Labuschagne is 27 not out, with Northeast on 22 and Glamorgan lead by 243.

Meanwhile, the ball is being changed. Plenty of close examinations of the cherry and furrowed brows among the fielding side before the umpires finally send for a new one.

  13. Postpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 150-1

George Balderson hits the deck as Olly Stone bangs in a bouncer which seems to target him like a heat-seeker, even as he drops away.

The lead is up to 115 with nine wickets in hand.

Whisper it quietly but these threatening skies are yet to show their hand...

  14. dropped catch

Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 82-2

No joy for Yorkshire's depleted bowling attack so far this morning, but now it's Matt Fisher's turn to have a go at achieving the breakthrough they need.

Just a single from Fisher's first over and Glamorgan have advanced to 82-2, with Marnus Labuschagne on 16 and Sam Northeast 11.

This pair put on 82 for the third wicket in the first innings - a similar kind of stand this time could take the game well out of Yorkshire's reach.

  15. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 139-1

It's never a good thing when you can hear the hover cover being fired up...

Let's make the most of this over from Stuart Broad. George Balderson has 66 and Josh Bohannon 53. Their partnership is 124.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Derbypublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

As expected, the Leicestershire second innings will be delayed. Possibly for some time.

  17. dropped catch

Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Yorks 106 v Glamorgan 245 & 74-2

Close call for Marnus Labuschagne, who cuts hard at Jordan Thompson - but Finlay Bean can't quite hang on at backward point. In fairness, it should go down as a good stop by Bean and denies the Australian a boundary.

Labuschagne has 12, with Sam Northeast on a rather scratchy seven and Glamorgan are 213 ahead of their hosts now.

  18. Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 134-1

Stuart Broad comes into the attack, having gone for 27 from six wicketless overs yesterday, and beats the edge of Josh Bohannon's bat with his first delivery.

The Lancashire lead is up to 99 as the skies darken above Nottingham. The floodlights are on. The lights are burning brightly, the flood hasn't arrived... yet.

  19. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Essex 314 & 24-0 v Surrey 240

Having started late and then tried to play on in late drizzle with a wet ball, the Surrey bowlers battled manfully.

But it was clearly not easy, wiping it down with a cloth between deliveries - and umpires Michael Burns and James Middlebrook have now agreed to the suggestion that they should come off.

Good news for the BBC commentary team - as the rain was starting to come into the box. And they can now close the window.

  20. 50 runs

50s for George Balderson and Josh Bohannonpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Notts 249 v Lancs 214 & 119-1

Lancashire are progressing nicely at Trent Bridge, where George Balderson and Josh Bohannon have both moved on to half-centuries and brought up the 100 partnership along the way.

Balderson reached the 50 mark first, with Bohannon close behind - his second half-century of the game - as he drilled Luke Fletcher through the covers for four.
