  1. wicket

MIDDLESEX ALL OUTpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 240 lead by 69

And in the next over Sean Abbott has polished Middlesex off by cleaning up Tim Murtagh for a five-ball duck.

Abbott 3-31, Jordan Clark 4-25 and six catches for Ben Foakes.

Surrey have just 70 to chase for victory to take them back to the top of the table.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Higgins c Roach b Clark 42 (Surrey v Middlesex 235-9 lead by 64)

Ryan Higgins was dropped this morning and has managed to keep Surrey waiting to finish this innings off.

But he's now gone and Middlesex's last major resistance has been removed.

  3. 150 runs

up for Kentpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 153-3 v Hampshire 373

A lovely way to bring up the 150 for Kent.

James Fuller is into the attack for the first time today for Hampshire - he was off the field earlier and was believed to be suffering with illness.

And he may not be feeling any better after Sam Billings unfurls a lovely drive through mid-on for his fourth boundary.

Kent have cut the deficit to 125.

  4. Somerset lead of 246 enough?published at 13:20 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 211-5 - lunch, day four

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Just 97 runs and two wickets in the morning session, so Somerset are still some way short being able to set Lancashire a risk-free target.

Will Willisms produced a beauty to bowl Tom Kohler-Cadmore and briefly raise Lancashire hopes, but James Rew has been making largely untroubled progress on what is still a batters' pitch, and although Tom Lammonby gave his wicket away, charging wantonly down the pitch to Tom Hartley, this game seems destined to be drawn.

  5. Durham beat Yorkshirepublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

We've already had one result today. And it was a classic...

Durham beat Yorkshire by one wicket in thriller

Durham hold their nerve on a nail-biting final morning to defeat Yorkshire by one wicket and stay top of County Championship Division Two.

  6. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 146-3 v Hampshire 373

A session of two halves as Kent arrive at lunch still needing 132 to avoid an innings defeat with seven wickets intact.

Ben Compton and Zak Crawley had made reasonably serene progress from their overnight 66-0, but both were out shortly after passing fifty as Kent slid from 122-0 to 126-3.

Liam Dawson took two wickets in an over to breathe new life into Hampshire’s victory charge, removing Crawley before a stupendous catch by Fletcha Middleton did for Tawanda Muyeye.

This one could go down to the wire.

  7. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Derbyshire 251-9 dec v Gloucestershire 303-8

Barring a mighty second-innings batting collapse from Derbyshire, this game is all about bonus points now.

Gloucestershire earned a second batting bonus point before lunch as they went past 300.

If they can get a lead of 100 and then give themselves a session and a half to bowl, who knows?!

  8. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Leics 91-4 f/o trail by 69 v Sussex

An excellent morning for Sussex who are on course for a big victory.

They enforced the follow-on last night and have taken four wickets this morning, one each for all four seamers.

Rishi Patel has got stuck in for the Foxes and takes lunch 49 not out but so far, no-one has gone with him.

  9. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 211-5

A draw looking likely at Old Trafford as Somerset reach lunch 246 runs ahead.

Somerset’s hopes of quick runs to set up an attacking declaration were checked by timely wickets of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and soon before lunch Tom Lammonby for a well-made 78.

James Rew has put the hammer down at times and the visitors have added 97 runs this morning.

A first win of the season for either side looks unlikely as it stands, but never say never.

  10. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 234-8 lead by 63

Middlesex have got through to lunch but they'll need something truly exceptional this afternoon to rescue this.

They were going down pretty quickly at 198-8 but Ryan Higgins has made an unbeaten 41, but has been dropped, and Ethan Bamber has clung around for 20 to help get their side to the break still with their heads just above water.

A frustrating half an hour for Surrey but the lead is only slender and they are big favourites to finish things off this afternoon.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lammonby st Bell b Hartley 78 (Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 206-5)

    Baffling!

Tom Lammonby survives a stumping chance off Tom Hartley when George Bell juggles the ball and allows the Somerset opener to dive back into his ground.

But the very next ball he fails to take advantage of the reprieve and again charges down the wicket to Hartley.

He's beaten again and this time Bell does the job.

    A lovely innings spoiled somewhat.

  12. 200 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 203-4

Somerset bring up the 200 and take their lead to 238.

Can they work their way to an attacking declaration?

  13. Postpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 139-3 v Hampshire 373

Kent's new batter Sam Billings decides attack is the best form of defence.

He takes Liam Dawson for three successive boundaries, but the third is less than convincing.

A thick outside edge which narrowly evades the hands of James Vince.

A mention for Dawson - the wicket of Muyeye was his 250th in first-class cricket. Chapeau!

    Kent 95 & 126-3 v Hampshire 373

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It was along time coming but finally Hampshire made a breakthrough (Crawley 56). And then in the same over Muyeye went too.

    And now Compton is gone!

As well as Crawley and Compton played for an hour and 20 minutes this morning, Abbas in particular got the ball passed the outside edge of Crawley’s bat several times.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Compton lbw b Barker 54 (Kent 95 & 126-3 v Hampshire 373)

That's three quick wickets for Hampshire.

After providing such fine resistance, both Kent openers are now back in the pavilion as Kent rapidly slide form 122-0 to 126-3.

Ben Compton looks to dead bat a straight ball from Keith Barker but is caught in betwixt and between and is hit on the knee roll.

He's not happy but it looked a decent shout and Hampshire need seven more wickets for a third win of the season.

  16. ouch!

Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 205-8 lead by 34

Ryan Higgins has taken a nasty whack on the left hand from Jordan Clark.

He's a tough cookie but this has hurt him.

He took a step or two down the pitch, Clark sent one into the pitch, Higgins tries to gets out of the way but it doesn't get up anywhere near enough and Higgins wears it.

But he's going to carry on.

  17. Postpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 194-4

Maybe Somerset haven't given this one up just yet.

James Rew has decided to up the pace and takes three fours off a George Balderson over and then another couple of boundaries off Tom Hartley in the next.

After a sticky start he's up to 32 off 48 balls and Somerset's lead goes to 229 with half-an-hour to lunch. Tom Lammonby is on 71 at the other end.

Daryl Mitchell comes in fir his first bowl of the day.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Handscomb b Currie 0 (Leics 65-4 f/o trail by 95 v Sussex)

Australian Peter Handscomb gone for a four-ball duck!

Brad Currie, left-arm over, slides one across the right-hander and he just gets his angles wrong, plays inside the line and loses his middle and off stumps.

    Foxes in a big hole.

Rishi Patel still there on 38.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Roland-Jones c Sibley b Clark 6 (Surrey v Middlesex 198-8 lead by 27)

This time Dom Sibley holds on a first slip!

Toby Roland-Jones feels for one just outside off after stepping down the pitch slightly to Jordan Clark.

Healthy edge and Sibbers makes no mistake to his great relief.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Muyeye c Middleton b Dawson 0 (Kent 95 & 122-2 v Hampshire 373)

    One brings two!

This is some catch by Fletcha Middleton to get rid of Tawanda Muyeye for a four-ball duck.

He looks to drive Liam Dawson but Middleton shows incredible reactions to somehow flick the ball up from point-blank range and pouch at the second attempt.

Hampshire have really opened this match up. Kent trail by 156.
