  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Ackermann lbw b Karvelas 6 (Leics 64-3 f/o trail by 96 v Sussex)

A third for Sussex with Leicestershire following-on.

Aristides Karvelas nips one in, catches Colin Ackermann on the back foot and he looks dead.

Leicestershire still a long way behind and haven't got stuck into this second dig yet.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Crawley c Brown b Dawson 56 (Kent 95 & 122-1 v Hampshire 373)

    Hope for Hampshire!

Liam Dawson holds one back and it fools England opener Zak Crawley who walks past the ball.

It looked like a stumping by Ben Brown, but it's down as a catch.

  3. 50 runs

for Ben Comptonpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 122-0 v Hampshire 373

And then it's Ben Compton's turn.

Having seen his fellow Kent opener Zak Crawley bring up his landmark in the previous over, Compton unleashes a lovely cover drive to bring up his 11th career first-class fifty, off 129 balls.

Compton is not the most vivacious of batsmen, but this is exactly what Kent need.

It's his fourth Championship fifty of the season - he's in some form.

  4. 50 runs

for Zak Crawleypublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 114-0 v Hampshire 373

Zak Crawley wins the race of the Kent openers to reach fifty.

It's his third half-century of the season and 30th first-class fifty of his career and is perhaps one of the slowest, arriving off 127 balls.

He then shows some attacking intent by driving Liam Dawson's next ball for four.

Ben Compton remains on 47, but there’s plenty of batting to be done today to earn Kent a draw.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 187-7 lead by 17

Back foot push from Ryan Higgins and a fast outside edge to first slip.

Dom Sibley can't cling on above his head.

It did go quickly too him but he got two big hands to it.

  6. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 108-0 v Hampshire 373

Zak Crawley goes for a wild loose drive off Keith Barker and almost pays the price.

Luckily for him he plays and misses as the ball finds the gloves of Ben Brown.

He resets and reverts to a textbook forward defensive next ball, then a single takes him to 48.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Hollman c Foakes b Clark 4 (Surrey v Middlesex 186-7 lead by 15)

Surrey are beginning to run away with this now.

Excellent delivery from Jordan Clark, full of length round the wicket, moves away just a fraction to take Luke Hollman's outside edge pressing forward.

Another catch for Ben Foakes but this one pretty straightforward to his left.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Malan c Patel b Atkinson 1 (Surrey v Middlesex 181-6 lead by 10)

Pieter Malan injured so coming in down the order with a runner.

But he pushes too hard at Gus Atkinson and chips a catch low to backward point.

Very good catch from Ryan Patel.

Atkinson strikes with his fourth ball.

  9. MIDDLESEX LEADpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Surrey v Middlesex 174-5 lead by 2

Ryan Higgins has been Middlesex's form batsman this season and he's trying to provide a counterpunch at a lovely sunny Oval.

He's got to 26 and taken his side into the lead.

Surrey have been good with the ball this morning and taken two wickets.

How hard can the visitors make this for Surrey today?

  10. 150 runs

up for Somersetpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 152-4

George Balderson replaces Saqib Mahmood as Lancashire make their first bowling change of the morning.

Tom Lammonby (64) brings up the 150 off his third ball, but it’s streaky and so close to a wicket.

His edge almost finds a diving Tom Hartley at third man, but beats the spinner and down to the boundary.

The Somerset lead is up to 187.

  11. Durham beat Yorkshire by one wicketpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Durham 227 & 246-9 v Yorks 254 & 218

    What an extraordinary game.

All four innings ebbed and flowed with the bowlers always just about on top.

The run chase looked easy at 147-3 but then dead at 173-8.

But up came Ben Raine to first get his side back into the game with Matty Potts last night and then to finish the job this morning.

Raine walks off to a hero's reception, 50 not out, Potts having made 25 before being dismissed with just two needed.

    Yorkshire's barren run continues.

They haven't won since April last season.

  12. DURHAM BEAT YORKSHIRE BY ONE WICKETpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 14 May 2023
    Breaking

    Durham 227 & 246-9 v Yorks 254 & 218

First ball rises into the gloves of Brydon Carse but he manages to keep it down.

Then two leaves outside off, a waste from George Hill.

Final ball of the over and Carse squeezes it wide of third man!

They come back for two and Durham have done it!

  13. 100 runs

up for Kentpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 103-0 v Hampshire 373

Largely serene progress for the Kent openers this morning.

Mohammed Abbas has looked the man most likely to prise one out, but so far so good for the hosts' bid to save the match.

Ben Compton and Zak Crawley both have 45 and the deficit is down to 175.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Potts lbw b Hill 25 (Durham 244-9 (Target: 246) v Yorks)

George Hill with the new ball to Matty Potts.

    AND GOT HIM !!!

Can you believe it! A lifeline for Yorkshire.

Second new ball slides in, catches Potts on the back pad, it looks good, finger goes up quickly.

The injured Brydon Carse will be needed here for Durham with just two to win! He comes out with Scott Borthwick as a runner.

  15. Durham need two to winpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Durham 244-8 (Target: 246) v Yorks

Three dots from Matt Fisher to Ben Raine and then they scamper a leg bye.

Matty Potts then works a single final ball.

The new ball is now due but surely too late for Yorkshire?

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Simpson c Foakes v Abbott 23 (Surrey v Middlesex 155-5 trail by 15)

What a catch from Ben Foakes!

Sean Abbott strays too straight from round the wicket.

The left-handed John Simpson flicks at it and gets a little touch.

Foakes takes off diving to his right and takes it brilliantly one-handed.

Surrey on course for victory again.

  17. Durham need four to winpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Durham 242-8 (Target: 246) v Yorks

Last roll of the dice from Yorkshire?

Dom Bess's off spin brought on - can he tempt a mistake?

A dab and go off side from Matty Potts brings a sharp single first ball.

Ben Raine content to block and then steals a single final ball.

    Brings up Raine's half-century in 110 balls.

    Just four to win.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Cohler-Cadmore b Williams 11 (Lancashire 326 v Somerset 361 & 139-4)

    Breakthrough at Old Trafford.

A good spell of pressure from Will Williams forces Tom Kohler-Cadmore into defensive mode.

Williams gets one to nip back which beats his forward prod and hits top of off-stump. Nice bowling.

That could end Somerset's chances of forcing a win. James Rew comes in.

  19. Durham need six to winpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Durham 240-8 (Target: 246) v Yorks

A maiden from Matt Fisher and half an appeal for a catch down the leg side.

Yorkshire just about still alive here but need something special.

  20. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 14 May 2023

    Kent 95 & 93-0 v Hampshire 373

Ben Compton takes back-to-back fours off Keith Barker.

The first came from a nice stroke, but the second less convincing as it squirms off the edge and finds the boundary rope.

Compton and opening partner Zak Crawley have soaked up 34 overs and are both closing in on fifties.
